we just got back from LA today. thanks to everyone who came out to the gibson show and the el rey show with airborne. that was a ton of fun. we got some cool stuff coming up, check it!

-we're going to be recording at different fur next week for a special iTunes session. it should be a lot of fun. stay tuned for when that is coming out!

so glad everyone liked the bedroom covers, maybe we'll do another free album again some time? what do you think? yea, that's what i thought, you buncha freeloaders. just playing, we like free stuff too.

here's some stuff that's been happening that we haven't had a chance to post about until now:

-we are playing LA next week. at the el rey theatre. august 7th. airborne toxic event's cd release show. we play 2nd. doors at 8pm. it's sold out on the site, but i think there may be some tickets available at the venue. (**and if you can't get in to this show, we're playing another the night before, SCROLL DOWN**)

-live 105 homegrown weekend is running all this weekend (you guessed it). we were one of the few local bands selected to be a part of it. tune in to hear some songs off our album, and maybe if you're lucky, a little interview. oh yeah, call in and request us you chumps:

-we will also be playing the Accidental Rhythm CD Release party, which takes place on Wednesday August 6th at the Gibson Guitar Showroom in Beverly Hills. The showroom is located at 9350 Civic Center Drive, Suite 130. The evening begins at 8pm and we play at 9pm. this shit is FREE, and anyone can come, SO DO IT.

here's some notes about the recording process and thangs:

hey gang,
here are a few tracks, that we are calling the bedroom covers. as you may have guessed, all these songs are covers… and yes, we did them at home in my room! the songs that you hear here are just songs we really really like. we didn't deliberate over which songs to pick. we didn't try to stick to a certain time period or genre. we just recorded songs we were going to be playing around the house anyway...

these songs sound the way they do, because we recorded them with a laptop and one mic. we used mainly acoustic guitars and shakers because that's what we had lying around, and we couldn't make much noise in our apartment anyway. we didn't spend time arranging any of these either. we learned the chords and the lyrics (which was pretty easy because we've heard all these songs hundreds of times), and we played 'em. what you hear at the basis of the recording is generally a first take. sometimes we added some background vocals or another guitar part here or there, because the songs we were covering had a lot more going on than us, and we were feeling a bit inadequate…

but hey, you're always fighting a losing battle when you're recording covers, because 99.99% of the time the cover isn't going to be as good the original. well, for the record, let it be known that none of our covers are as good as the originals. that's part of why we wanted to give all these tracks away for free. if you haven't heard one of these songs before, you should go out and buy it from the original artist, RIGHT NOW. disclaimer aside: if you want to hear some kids having a lot of fun playing some of their favorite songs ever, check these out.

also, a big hearty thank you to everyone who bought our album from itunes this past week. and big ups to itunes for the editor's choice love. we can't believe it but we just got this info from them:

'talking through tin cans' was just selected last week as iTunes 'Editors Choice', which led to the album breaking the iTunes Top 20 album charts (18) and Top 10 alternative album charts (8) and put the band on Billboard's Heatseekers Chart (8) and Indie Album Chart (30). Pretty crazy stuff…

on another note, the tour is over, which is a bit of a bummer. we're all a bit tired, but it was so much fun playing for you all, we can't wait to get out again. that should be very soon (note: that's really very soon for you west coasters, check out the july we are scientists dates below). and, we're keeping pretty busy.

we're swinging by the Daytrotter Studios in Iowa and HearYa HQ's in Chicago this week on our drive back home to record some sweet sessions. then we'll be back for a performance and interview with Aaron Axelsen on Live105 'Soundcheck' on the evening of Sunday, June 22nd. then we're shooting a video for 'damnit anna' in SF on June 24th with the homies at nylon tv and will be doing a FREE acoustic show at the puma store in SF (free and all-ages) on friday, june 27th.
