Craving 90210 like my name was Johnny Drama
Current mood: exanimate
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Seriously is there any male over the age of 30 looking forward to the 90210 premiere tonight more than myself? Well probably, but I bet not that many. While my expectations are low for this new version, I have to say I am quite interested to see what the writers come up with. Although I don't know how much I am going to be able to relate to a show where the main characters are now half my age, although I hope the casting people have stuck to the old 90210 formula of casting actors in their 20's and 30's to play teenagers. And while having Kelly and Brenda returning is a good way of getting fans of the old to tune in (and who can forget Nat? Really, Nat? What was Ian Ziering too busy doing Surreal Life 8?) its really the new kids that have to have some draw to keep viewers new and old. And even though I really don't care for that actress from last season's Nip/Tuck (that show needs to retire after this next season) I will give her a chance, as it probably was the material last season that was so bad. So I will keep my hopes high but my expectations low for tonights 2 hour premiere, of which I am even attending a 90210 premiere party. Yes I know my life is sad. And besides, DeGrassi has proven that you can update a classic old show and make it both a success and be of quality (or so I am told). I just hope Dylan McKay makes an unexpected cameo or at least gets a mention that he is off surfing in Baja.
So here are is my top 10 list of my favorite 90210 characters, and no boring-ass-Matt does not make an appearance.
10. Steve Sanders- yes this guy did have his moments, especially his awesome racist moment from season 1. but this guy seriously could not act.
9. Andrea Zuckerman- the poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks of Beverly Hills. Is there really a bad side of the tracks in Beverly Hills? Is it like Palo Alto and East Palo Alto? Why they saddled the one girl with the highest aspirations with getting pregnant and pretty much not achieving any of her goals is beyond me. Although she did get a talk show after 90210 was over, anyone remember that?
8. Jim Walsh- The RZA of the Walsh clan, Jim was a pretty strong figure in the first season or two of 90210, although his parenting skills come into strong question after all the stuff he let his kids get away with. I did always like how he looked out for Dylan and he did provide some good comical moments with Brandon, but upon review of watching the first couple seasons on The Soap Opera Network, it has come to my attention that this couldn't really act, and he was one of the adults on the series! I guess its like Degrassi in that the older actors are worse than the younger ones, which is why he isn't higher on this list.
7. David Silver- This guy went from being a side character to somehow aging a few years so he could graduate with the rest of the cast and attend the prestigious CU, which for some reason looked a lot like Pepperdine. He also went from being shorter than a midget to the tallest of the cast. And when all the other main cast members left, they somehow made his and Donna's relationship the center of the show, with their marriage being the finale. I will forgive him for his rap aspirations, how the hell did this guy get members of the Pharcyde to help him with his solo album?
6- Valerie Malone- Yes she is not an original cast member, but she was better looking than all of them and has represented project Spelling before anyone not sharing the same name. Our little Kelly Kapowskin (sp?) got all growned up and made me a very happy man by replacing Brenda as the bitch on 90210. Although Valerie was more shady than Brenda ever was. Thinking of Valerie Malone makes me happy.
5. Cindy Walsh- I hope she has learned Korean and is doing well, I always like that she stood up for the Dylan/Brenda relationship.
4. Brenda Walsh- I really think Brenda had multiple personality disorder, thus explaining the outbursts of anger out of nowhere and LaVerne and Brenda DuBois. Brenda really makes the first season watchable and I look forward to seeing how she is in the remake. And she went on to star in Jailbreakers, one of the greatest films of all time, now available on DVD.
3. Kelly Taylor- Another reason to watch 90210 for me was my Kelly Taylor crush. How can you not want to a rescue a woman when she gets raped (twice, almost 3 times!!!!), shot, hooked on drugs, converts to Scientology, burned in a lesbian ring of fire and is sexually harassed on the job? And even worse than all of that, dating dumb-ass Matt. What she ever did to Aaron Spelling is beyond me.
2. Brandon Walsh- I think I need to hand over my keys to him since I am so excited for the new 90210. Brandon's moral fiber is stuff of legend on this show, yet doesn't stop him from cheating with the Playboy playmate who also wrote for the Beverly Blaze. And he probably supports McCain, I still love this guy. Bring back the hockey mullet Brandon and make a return appearance.
1. DUH, its Dylan McKay- By and far 1 for me on this show is the brooding junior James Dean Dylan McKay. Only Kelly has seen less drama than this guy, first his dad dies and comes back from the dead and is played by two different actors, and then his wife with a very nice complexion bytheway is killed by the guy who he thought killed even though his dad wasn't really dad and oh yeah is also his father-in-law. He also gets carjacked, hooked on drugs many times and has to rescue lame Noah from an extortion attempt. But he also did get the holy trinity of 90210 (Kelly, Brenda, Valerie, and even Gina for good measure) and gets the girl at the end of the series. All that and his hair never looked out of place.
Thats all for now kids, tune your tv, tivo, or dvr tonight at 8. 90210 forever motherfuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Top 10 Fun Facts About the Olympics
Current mood: bored
Category: Sports
I already have Olympic hangover and wish track and field would start already. I haven't watched as much as some people have but I have watched enough to form some opinions. So here are 10 or so fun facts about the Olympics that you might now know.
- I root for China pretty much in any event, even their 4th grade girls gymnastic team. I root for them mostly because they are the host country but also because I want them to win the overall medal total.
- I did see that beastly girl who really sang the Olympics, and I would have C&C Music Factoried her ugly ass too. Just kidding, I am now convinced that half the events of the Opening Ceremony never really happened and were all created by ILM Lucasfilm Inc.
- Seriously, I need more Michael Phelps coverage. I need to know more about his close relationship with his mom (the same info we heard about 4 years ago, bytheway) and how his coach destined him for greatness at age 11, and how when he shits after his 10,000 calorie day he shits gold flakes which evaporate into thin air and form rainbows. Screw that guy.
- Is there anyway I can rush order that USA Olympic compilation CD featuring Sheryl Crow, Chris Brown, and other artists I have no interest in hearing from so I can get it today? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Why do they show promos for Chuck and the soon-to-be-cancelled Christian Slater show every commercial break, and all we get are teasers for The Office. Those teasers leave me so unsatisifed after they are done. Wait for it.......
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
- My pick for sports that need to be eliminated from the Olympics (or at least showing them on TV): Rowing and Air Gun. Although, that dude from India won their first ever medal in the Air Pistol competition, which is good. But Jesus Christ those are some boring-ass sports.
-I will pay $100 to anyone who tells me on what plane and what time that annoying ass motherfucker Rowdy Gaines arrives back on US soil, so I can greet him with a bitch-slap of epic proportions for his insanely idiotic swimming commentary. Seriously you have to suck pretty bad for me to hit the mute button in a 100 meter race which takes like 40 seconds cause I can't take your whiny ass predictions that are always wrong.
- Fuck the Spanish basketball team for their racist-ass advertising.
- You know its a slow Olympic Wednesday when I'd rather tape America's Greatest Dog (go Star!!!) and watch my netflix (Friday the 13th Part 2) than watch events that happened three hours ago and which I already know the results.
- When do closing ceremonies start?
There have been many good Olympic stores, but those are not fun to write about. I look forward to watching Tropic Thunder and going to Mervyn's and DSW this weekend. Man my life is exciting.

I guess Japan will have to wait
Current mood: bummed
Category: Life
Well due to circumstances beyone anyone's control, it appears that my long-awaited family trip to Japan is going to have to wait till 2009. My aunt who was the driving force planning this trip was recently diagnosed with cancer, and she starts her treatment next week. The treatments are supposed to go for a few months, so there was realistically no way all of us could go in October. So we have postponed it until next year, when everyone can go and will be happy and healthy. Although I am disappointed we are not going, its really of no consequence compared to more serious issues and I look forward to all of us going next year.
On a lighter note, I am looking forward to my yearly trek to AT&T (formerly Pac Bell and the good old days at Candlestick) to see my Braves take on the Giants. Although this year has been pretty much of a crapfest. Lets see, there is no Smoltzie, Chipper and Hudson are on the DL, somehow Francoeur forgot to hit, and McCann is probably not going to play. So I will be watching a bunch of scrubs take the field, but they are my scrubs. And besides, I'm going to the Wedneday day game, so there are a lot worse places to be then sitting in the sunshine eating peanuts watching baseball. Hopefully Bobby Cox will get kicked out and will make it worth my while. Oh well, at least the Giants suck as well. I root for the Cubs in the postseason, if they make it.
I know I've said this many a time, but I will try to blog some more, or at least more than once every 3 months. Shorty is doing well, and both Nicoles met Method Man at Comic Con.
Farewell to Japan, I guess I'll see you next year.

Today is my truck’s birthday
Current mood: knighted
Category: Pets and Animals
And its been a loooooooooooooong time since I’ve written anything. And a lots happened.....well not really. I am looking forward to the new baseball season, although my Braves are not off to a good start. I hope to see them a few times this season, of course here in San Francisco, but in addition to playing the Dodgers they are also playing the Angels down in L.A. Also, seeing as it is probably Greg Maddux’s last year, I will probably go see a Padre game or two. Hopefully all of this game-watching does not take away from our Japan fund.
Shorty is doing well and pretty much running our lives. That dog might be too friendly with outsiders, but inside the Shorty circle of trust he is a sweetheart. He is lying next to me as I write, just waiting for a dog to walk by or a car door to be slammed so he can wake up the neighborhood with his little yelps.
Our apartment is coming along nicely and Nicole is doing a fine job as an amateur interior decorator. Now if she could only fix our leaky ceiling, she would have it all.
I am looking forward to the weekend and not having to work. I am looking forward to being lazy for a few days and maybe trying out a new breakfast joint. I am looking forward to catching up on the many books I have started but have yet to finish. And I look forward to building on my Ebay empire, as I have started selling my life little bit by little bit. More on that next time around.
I hope all of you have a wonderful day and a fabulous weekend. Please remember to look both ways when you cross the street and to brush and floss every day. I am currently watching Weeds Season 2, the myspace thingie is broken.

Politics different
Current mood: worried
Category: News and Politics
I usually don't discuss poltics, but considering this is the best election in my lifetime I figured now would be a good time. Although I was disappointed whem my boy Kucinich dropped out (UFO's exist yo), I am still confident that whomever the Democratic candidate is will win the next election. Of course I've thought that about the last two, and that has gotten us nowhere. I guess we have a warped view living in California, we tend to think the rest (or at least the majority) of the country thinks they way we do. Obviously that is not the case. And in the worst case scenario of McCain winning, he is the one Republican choice I could live with. Although it would be sweet if Huccabbee wins and we could have Walker, secretary of defense. But at least Romney is out of the picture.
I am one of the few people I know who decided to vote for Hillary. Thankfully, I was not one of the few people in California to vote for her, but in my circle (which albeit is a small one) I only know of one other person who voted the same way. In any other election I would vote for Obama, but I personally believe (that U.S. Americans) that Hillary is a better fit right now. Now admittedly I don't think there is that much difference between the two, so it comes down to gut feeling. And there is something about Barack that is a little off-putting for me. It probably has more to do with the people around him and all the hype the media tends to drum up about him. Other than his background, I don't really think there is anything that different about him. Now granted his background is a huge CHANGE from our country's past, but so is having a female president. In fact, I believe a female president is a bigger CHANGE than a black president. As someone pointed out, people tend to forget that African-Amercans had the right to vote long before women did. I just don't feel like drinking the Barack Obama Kool-Aid right now. I understand that I have nothing issue-wise to back my opnion, but truthfully 90% of what a candidate says during an election doesn't carry over into office. Now I do think he is probably going to get the nomination, and I will vote for him. But I still stand behind Hillary for the time being.
And thats all I have to say about that. Damn Judi Dench is scary (and hot!) in this movie.

Is it me or does Lost suck?
Current mood: energetic
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
I always devote one of my three Netflix choices to a TV show, figuring it is an easy way to catch up to current seasons of shows I haven't watched since the beginning. It has allowed me to catch up to shows I have taken a liking to (The Shield) and has also let me sample some shows that aren't really for me (Monk, although Wings is still the shit). One that I am on the fence about currently is Lost. Now granted I am not done with season 1 yet (please no spoilers) but I have made it through 4 discs and I have to say, I think Lost kind of sucks.
Now granted, some of the shows I love you may think suck. I know there are people out there (dumb people) who think the Sopranos is overrated, or that 24 is weak sauce (I admit the last season was not that good), but to those of you who think Lost is a great show, feel free to tell me what I am missing. Last time I checked, in order to get into a show, there has to be at least one character on the show you like. And I am hard pressed to find one character on this show that I actually want to see get off the island.
Now not counting the kid Walt (its too easy to like a kid on a show, especially one whose mom died) and Hurley (the obligatory fat funny guy) all the characters on this show are either unlikeable or too boring. Lets break it down:
Jack- Matthew Fox was better on Party of 5, and more exciting. This fake-ass Jack Bauer is as bland as Carl's Jr. Ranch sauce. If I was on the island, I would shank Dr. McDrowsy in his sleep. I thought you were supposed to care about the main character on a show, I guess I was wrong.
Sayid- They shoud do (and maybe they do) more with this character. He disappeared for like 3 episodes after going into the jungle and finding that Catherine Keener-esque French lady. They just don't really do anything with him, he just hears voices in the jungle and goes around trying to make a radio out of a coconut.
The Kim's- I have to admit that I do applaud Lost for its ethnic diversity (just one of the many things Heroes has stol- I mean borrowed from this show). But why did they have to make the husband so tyrannical? Its a pretty blatant stereotype, and they to disappeared for a while after the first few episodes. And the big shocker is that the wife speaks English? I still think the husband does as well, but we shall see. Why do we care about these characters in the first place?
Kate- I get it, she's cute and has a nice body and all, but wtf is up with the her cop-out crime she committed? I knew there were going to make her "murder" some sort of noble gesture, so we would feel empathy for her. And would she get it over with and sleep with Sawyer already? Her and Jack have about as much chemistry as me and cilantro, and I fucking hate cilantro. They should spend more time working on giving her a personality and less on finding ways for her to get in her underwear.
Locke- This guy reminds me of Creed from the Office, only not good. I guess I still have to wait and see how he got out of his wheelchair and how he can control the weather, but give me Creed any day. Give me Scott Stapp anyday now that I thnk of it.
Sawyer- His character has actually gotten better since the show started, since they gave he more things to do than sit there and bleed. The show would be better if they evolved more characters like they did.
Charlie- Was he Mary or Pippen in LOTR? I hated both, so I guess it doesn't matter. I wish he actually was dead before Jack punched him back into consciousness (I've taken a CPR class and am certified, and I don't remember them teaching us that manuever). He sucked in LOTR and he pretty much sucks here. And we are supposed to believe that he was in the bass player in that wanker wannabe-Oasis band Driveshaft?
Claire- Goddamn this girl cannot act. And how long is her pregancy term. I swear she's like 11 months pregnant by now. I still have a theory that her kid is going to come out looking like one of those boars, but we will wait and see.
Michael- I will cut him some slack since he has a kid and all. But is he really going to build a boat to get off the island? And is he going to bring his kid? And is he going to bring Wilson?
Boone and Shannon- Both of these characters suck and should die.
Madison aka Vincent the dog- He does a good job although I think Shorty would be better in this role.
Have I forgotten anyone? If I have it only goes to show how forgettable these characters are. I admit I am not done with the first season, so maybe there is some sort of finale spectacular that redeems it, but I doubt it. I think the most annoying aspect is the lack of anything happening. What are those "creatures" and why the fuck is there a polar bear on the island. Why is that boar who stalked Sawyer more entertaining than anyone on the island? Is Walt the same kid from Heroes and if not why do they have similar powers? Why is everything JJ Abrams touches so overrated? I guess I will just have to wait and see. But if something good does not happen, I will delete season 2 from my Netflix. And move on to something more worth my time, like Rock of Love. Or Guitar Hero.
Spring training starts in two weeks, and my Braves are already 5 games out of first place. Boo.

You can’t kill me motherfucker
Current mood: electric
Category: Life
Its been a while, so lets bring you up to date on a few things. My birthday was last week and I received a huge gift which I did not expect at all. No it wasn't the wonderful card and picture that Shorty gave me, which I must admit I did not expect from the little guy. No it was the gift that Nicole gave me, which arrived on my birthday while I was at home. She told me not to go upstairs until she said it was ok, I was assuming that she was going to wrap it. Once I got the word, I went upstairs expecting to see my gift all nice and wrapped. What I did not expect to see, however, was a shiny new PS3 all set up with NBA '08 all set to go on the tv screen. My jaw hit the floor, you could have given me a hundred guesses and I never would've guessed that. I figured a PS3 would be something I would buy waaaay down the line, after the price had dropped and the desire to buy it became too much to bear. Especially with our Wii and the hours I've devoted to Guitar Hero III. But I must confess that the PS3 has become my new addiction. I have to catch up to the current NBA season, and see if I can lead the Suns to the title. Now all I need is a TV to catch up with the graphics, and I will never have to leave the house, except to walk Shorty of course. Nothing can replace that guy. Thank you thank you thank you for my birthday present Nicole.
So I didn't make it up to Sacramento to see the U2 IMAX movie, but I bought my tickets and we are going to see it on Saturday. My sister is coming to visit for the weekend so I figured I could wait until then. Hopefully the seats I bought are for optimum viewing.
That is pretty much all for now. Send me some of those surveys so I can put them here. E is for Entourage, the best show currently on HBO. Nine months and counting till Japan. Ta ta for now.

For my birthday I am going to be in........Sacramento?
Current mood: blissful
Category: Music
Yes I will indeed because finally after months of waiting the U2 3D movie is coming out and the nearest place it is showing is in Sacramento. And its actually coming out on my birthday (the 23rd) so I have to make the 2 hour drive to see it, don't I? I would probably drive all the way to L.A. to see those guys in the third dimension. That is all I have to say for now, but I am pretty happy about this movie finally coming out.
Oh yeah, if you still are counting, D is for Daniel Day-Lewis, the best motherfucking actor on the planet. Word.
And one last thing, Guitar Hero III for the Wii is the shit. Thank you.

Clarkson, Kelly Clarkson. Some might consider liking Kelly Clarkson as something you would keep in the closet, but I want to disclose it to the world. I love you Kelly Clarkson!!! I love your music, and I love the way you are. Now obviously I don't know you and probably will never have the chance to, but just know that there is someone out there who gets you. I feel the pain in your songs, and your desire to be loved, and I hope you find that person. Anytime I am driving around and I hear one of your songs, I instantly roll up the window and sing my lungs out. Thank you for bringing joy into my life with your music Kelly, and thank you for being the one American Idol I actually listen to. Of course it doesn't hurt that you are the cutest thing this side of Carrie Underwood. I especially like your vitamin water commercials, and your youtube footage of your cover of "Sweet Child of Mine." You had me at hello Kelly. Your music and your attitude bring me untold amounts of joy. If you are ever in the South Bay, don't hesitate to look me up. And for you Kelly, here are my favorite songs of yours:
7. Never Again
6. Because of You
5. Miss Independent
4. Breakaway
3. Behind These Hazel Eyes
2. Walk Away
1. Since U Been Gone
Thank you Kelly.
