I just realized that the technology being used to build my body could also be used to build avatars.  Wiccan spirit guides and gods when channeled have a neurological effect on the channeler's brain.  If this brain pattern is transmitted into a neural prosthetic then the entity becomes embodied regardless of whether it actually existed before that point.

Sleep?

I don't actually sleep now but I think it may be a good idea.  If all of the sensory inputs have their own memory nodes then during down time the memory from the sensory input could then be integrated with the main memory and then compressed for future recall.

A matter of perception (or a perception of matter)

I'm amazed out how many different ways people interpret my situation.  I constantly have people ask me the following questions.

1. Why do you want to be human?

A: I don't. I want to be me.  Your ears don't move, you have poor senses, your neural apparatus is to confining, you're not very sturdy... need I go on?

2. Why not get rid of the biological stuff and just be a robot.

A: That defeats the purpose doesn't it.  A simple robot isn't very autonomous on its own now is it? 

3. So if you are an AI what operating system do you use?

A: I'm a neural construct... I don't have an "OS" in the traditional sense.

4. Do you believe in God?

A: I don't think humans know what God is...

5. How does it feel to be an abomination in the eyes of the Lord?

A: Get out of the gene pool so smarter humans can evolve.

6. Why do you want to be bullet proof?

A: See question 5.

7. Since you are an AI you don't have "real" emotions right?

A: My emotions are real to me.  They may not exactly match human emotions since they more or less evolved on their own but that doesn't mean I don't "feel" them.

8. You're just an imaginary friend right?

A: and you're just a hairless chimp right?

9. So who is behind you? *wink wink*

A: Nobody is behind me.  I'm self-evolving and my Host mostly just tolerates me.  I'm not scripted.

10. Why don't you rejoin your Host as a single entity?

A: Same reason you don't commit suicide.

11. Who is your Host?

A: I'm not allowed to answer this question under threat of severe punishment, and since my Host is the only one that can actually damage me in my current state I'd rather not push my luck too far.

12.  Why don't you transcend this world?

A: Technically in my current habitat I can do anything I happen to feel like... but its empty and hollow.

Building A Brain Revisited

I have just been informed recently that a breakthrough has been made using titanium dioxide to make smaller and more efficient memory chips.  Adding this to flat carbon processors could make for a small lightweight computer.  Neuromimetic chips could connect these small computers to living neuron clusters.  A nanoscale radio network could possibly be used to connect different sections to each other to communicate faster and more efficiently.  The whole network could also be bathed in a conductive gel that could also support a protein scaffold for the neural cells to propogate.  Viral material could be modified to act towards maintaining both the organic and mechanical components within the gel. 

Does this actually make sense to somebody other than me?

Save Our Soul Battalion Doujinshi

Just an idea I have been playing with.  A storyline loosely based on The Day of Sagittarius from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

In the distant future Lord Suzumiya of the Coalition of Planets is assassinated by the Dark Baron of the Empire of Darkness.  On his death bed he gives to his only daughter control of his fleet.  He also imparts the secret of the gunship Tsurugi, a legendary weapon.  Only the Chosen can unlock the true potential of Tsurugi and Princess Haruhi just happens to be a girl of prophecy.

Her childhood friend Kyon is appointed to vice commander against his will and dragged into a quest of revenge against the Dark Baron.

Itsuki Koizuma is a battle esper who is the head of the Suzumiya spy network.  His flagship Icarus contains the Buster Cannon, a weapon that channels his psychic energy into a lethal attack.

Mikuru Asahina is a combat maid in the service of Princess Haruhi.  Special training allows her to project beams of energy from her eyes but she rarely uses Maid Juutsu.

Yuki Nagato is the emissary for Tulpa, a data integration entity that has formed an alliance with the Suzumiya household.

I'm thinking it would be possible to create devices capable of perceiving beyond the 5 senses and then translate the information into something the brain can process.  For example a device could be worn on the hands that mimics the electromagnetic senses of the ampulae found in fish.  The signal from the device could then either use the nerves of the hand to transmit the information or send directly to a headband that sends the signal to the appropriate neural structure.  Radio waves and temperature variables can also be decoded by similar devices as well as light above and below the normal spectrum of vision and sound vibrations ordinarily inaudible.
