Midnighters: The Secret Hour
Midnighters: The Secret Hour By: Scott Westerfeld
I'm not done with this one yet...for a small book it's taking me forever to read.
Summing up what I know thus far. In the middle of Bixby, Oklahoma something wierd happens every night. There's a "blue-time" where the entire world freezes and only a choosen few may wander around. Evil creatures stalk the blue-time and for some reason they are drawn to Bixby's newest Midnighter, Jessica Day.
Jessica has to deal with a new school, a bratty sister during the day and man eating snake-tigers at night.

The Books of Magic: Girl in the Box
The Books of Magic: Girl in the Box By: John Ney Rieber
I started reading these because of the tie-ins with Sandman. I absolutly love that series so what's better than more stories with Neil Gainman helping out.
'Books of Magic' is about Tim, a dorky kind of kid who finds out he is destine to be the most powerful magician in the universe. In every book Tim in introduced to a different time-aspect of the universe (in the second book Tim is shown around by John Constantine) . It's a really weird, artsy version of Dicken's A Christmas Carol ghosts.
Now in 'Girl in the Box' Tim decides the only way to cope with his responsiblities is to runaway to the US. Of course, he's bound to meet some weird characters over here.

Bootcamp
So I just finished this book called Bootcamp by Todd Strasser. Scary. This kids parents send him to a $4,000 boot camp becuase he is dating an older woman. Since he is under 18 he can't leave without his parents permission and of course, they sent him there so they're not going to sign him out.
This camp is really abusive, the kids are practically starved and beat a lot. At the end the of book the author says this stuff really exist, I googled it and it's a whole industry. Here are a compilation of articles collected by the Rick Ross Institute: "A database of information about cults, destructive cults, controversial groups and movements."

Harmless
Harmless by Dana Reinhardt
Three freshman girls make up a story about being attacked to get out of trouble for being at a party. Probably not a good idea...the lie keeps getting bigger and bigger and after awhile they can't stop it.
Good story, you have to wonder why all three of them thought their parents would just let the whole thing about being attacked go...but apparently it didn't occur to them that it was a big deal.
