I’m soon to be moved...
New Place! So, I'm moving to Sunnyvale. Not the right part of Sunnyvale, but it's close to work and if Cattleman's was still open, I'd be living right across the street.
Place is small, but I can afford it and it's right next to a hotel and the place has had just about everything replaced over the last couple of weeks. New stove. New Fridge. New carpets. New tile. Not a lot of closet space, but I'll make it work. Chris

Must FInd Place
It's not easy being broke in Silicon Valley. I've gotta find a new place to move into by February 1st (thought January 15th would be better) and it's gotta cost less than 750 a month (800 at the absolute most) Does such a thing exist in the SV without being in neighborhoods with gunplay and rats the size of tanks? Apparently yes as I've seen ads for a few and while none of them will compete with the Ritz, none are that bad. So, the next month will be rough, but I'll find something, I'm sure. Chris

Can't Sleep, pain unbearable
So, most folks know that I've got a bad flipper. It's my left foot and often it acts up, like it did at Westercon. SOmetimes when you have a bad something, the other something has to take more pressure and that breaks down.
My right foot is doing that right now and it's murder.
It started hurting during BASFA, and more at the Kwik-E-Mart, but when I was in teh car driving home, my eyes were full of tears and I had to drive left-legged.
Basically, it's firey pokers into my right foot at three points: one that hurts when I flex up, one when I flex down and one that just sort of throbs when any pressure is placed on it. RICE actually caused it to hurt more, particularly the compression portion of the event.
No sleep, foot will kill me.
If my foot doesn't improve before Saturday, all things may be cancelled for weekend. I will make my plans known and will BEG someone to buy me a bottle of St. George's Single Malt that I'll pay them for with interest.
I can't think of a worst pain that I've ever experienced in my life. Well, physical pain. I was a wreck when they cancelled Family TIes. CHris

I am Ghod Here!!!!!
I'm a Double Nominee for the Hugo Award.
The Hugos are the Science Fiction Oscars and I've managed to get on the final ballot for Best Fan Writer and Best Fanzine.
I'm freakin' amazed. I've never been nominated for anythign as important as teh Hugo, and though I won't win, it's pretty incredible that my name will always be on the list of the folks who were nominated. Chris

Monster Camp
If you play WOW, or you LARP, or you're a SciFi Geek, or a Gamer or anyone, really, you must see Monster Camp. It's at Cinequest if you're local, if not, go to their MySpace page and find them. It's the story of Nero Seattle and the story of the lives of those of us who have that fannish tendancy. Remarkably well-done CHris

Good eMail this morning...
A buddy of mine who used to promote wrestling about ten years ago (and who booked me for one of my very few matches ever) is starting to put together a show for next year (Looking like Memorial Day 2008) to do for Women's wrestling what the APW Cup did for the little guys (ie. gave Ring of Honor the idea that small guys having great matches could draw big crowds) He's planning the U.S. Woman's Wrestling Tourney, as he's calling it, for San Jose, CA. Not sure of other details, but it sounds like he's going all out. If you're a wrestler of the woman variety, send an email and I'll forward info to ya. Chris

I totally forgot to mention...
So, when I went back to the Hollywood Rooseveldt, my favourite hotel in teh whole wide world, I noticed something: they'd removed the Charlie Chaplin statue bench. It was a bench where they had a bronze Chaplin on one end and you could sit next to him and have a picture taken. He was gone, sadly. They'd redone the entire lobby in dark wood and leathers with a few Christmas touches, but I miss the Chaplin. The bathrooms were also much nicer Chris

Jon Chapman's funeral
There's a church in San Jose called Crossroads. I had no idea what it was, only a vague idea of qwhere it was located. Jon's funeral was there adn that's all that mattered.
It turned out that Crossroads was a formed movie theatre and that I'd seen a couple of movies there in the 1980s. It made things so much easier.
As much as I'd like to say that I'm really a spiritual person, the closest I get to church is the movie theater. There's a sort of reverence I have for them and walking into this theatre where I saw The Boy Who Could Fly and The Gods Must Be Crazy, the more comfortable I felt and the more I realised that this was the most appropriate place Jon could be memorialized.
After the service, we went to the Branham Lounge and had a few drinks. There was a lot of talking about him and a lot of good memories. I wish we could have shared them with Jon there. He would have loved it.

New ABC Sitcoms
ABC hasn't done great sitcoms in ages. They pretty much reinvented the hour long dramedy, but sitcoms haven't been great. They tried with Big Day and it's an OK show that just didn't connect with an audience. On the other hand, there's a great new show called The Knights of Prosperity. Donal Logue is great leading his team to rob Mick Jagger's house, especially when he's convincing folks to rob the place. The big guy, Jefferson, is hilarious. He's funny and understated and reminded me of Billy Gardell in Lucky. In fact, the whole show reminded me of Lucky in a bunch of ways. It was well-written and I got a bunch of big laughs.
The following show, In Case of Emergency, wasn't nearly as good, though there were some moments, especially those featuring my man Jonathan Silverman. It wasn't super funny, but it was better than Big Day.
I still wish they'd bring back SportsNight and it's like you know... Chris

Happy New Year Ever'body!
Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful New Year and manages to keep to their resolutions at least three months!
In other news, I was almost run over by Iggy Pop in LA. True story, he was turnign off of Hollywood Blvd. and screeched to a halt only a couple of feet away from killing me. He looks old and leathery!
My resolutions? Write 3 screenplays and make at least 1 short. Chris

That's right, screw Ortiz
I've always thought that Tito Ortiz was a one-dimensional fighter. That's nto to say he's not a good fighter, but he's not the star that everyone seems to think he is. Hell, Diego Sanchez is a much stronger fighter than Tito. I'm so glad he got himself pounded by Liddell tonight. It was a good night for me because Liddell, the best fighter in the world pound for pound, won and Chris Leben lost too, which made me happy. I admit it: I love Koscheck and hate Leben.
I gotta say that the Ortiz-Liddell fight was a good fuight and TIto gave him more of a battle, but at the end, Chuck jsut ran over Tito. Chris

First off...
Merry Christmas and all those other holidays that I can't spell to everyone. I'm planning on doing very much nothing for Christmas, perhaps seeing a movie or two (Night at the Museum looks fun) and I'm planning on eating like a mad man. Plus, in addition to all of that, since we did Christmas yesterday morning, I've got Greg The Bunny: The IFC episodes and The Devil Wears Prada. I think I'm gonna buy the WWE's AWA Dvd, mostly because of the matches since the doc is probably only OK. CHris

Jerry Lynn vs. Christopher Daniels
I can't wait to see this match. Lynn's so hurt that he doesn't have many matches left, so putting him in with Daniels is a very good thing. I watched a few ECW matches last night and Lynn was so amazing. He could have been huge is ECW had stuck around (and if he hadn't made the terrible choice to go to WCW as Mr. JL a fe years before) In addition, I thought that Angle vs. Samoa Joe was "HOLY MOTHER OF GHOD! Awesome. I love Kurt and I love Joe and I am starting to really love TNA. CHris

Dude...Rad
So, I've gone to three movies lately, which were the first ones I've been to since Pirates and Nacho Libre. I thought that Tenacious D and The Pick of Destiny was a funny fuckin' film that is also among the filthiest, non-sdexual films of all time. It could have gotten an NC-17 for langauge. Even better was Casino Royale. Hyper-violent and cinematically stunning, it had only a couple of chunky bits in the middle. Still, Danny Craig is brilliant and Eva Green is hot and I'm very excited for the second one in his reign. Not nearly as good as those two was For Your Consideration. I liked the cast, and Richard Kind from Spin CIty was great, but overall, it landed a little flat. Chris
