The Trouble with Monkeys

Yep, I had a giant inflatable monkey just outside my window at work all day today. He was starting to make me kinda paranoid. I mean if a 30 foot monkey was staring that blank stare at you all day, wouldn't you feel a bit on edge? But it's all good. It's MY monkey now, I claimed it! The cops were just doing their jobs I suppose, but the news cameras were kind of embarrassing. Especially after they had to resort to mace and tear gas. I was just defending my monkey dammit!

Patrick and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

OK! It's been 19 years since the Last Crusade and while Harrison Ford may have aged a bit, Indy didn't. Sure he's got gray hair and a few wrinkles but with movie magic he's punchin the crap outta the Reds like he was all those years ago. The movie starts off with a bang (quite literally) and just keeps pushing the envelope from there. You thought some of the stuff he got into, and out of before was outlandish? That was nothing compared to this movie. But that was my problem while watching it. It was too far fetched and then before too long I realized: This is Indiana Jones. It's SUPPOSED to be this way. That made all the difference. Was it the best movie? No, but it was still an Indiana Jones movie. It was FUN! And isn't that why we go to see these kinda movies? The acting was perfectly suited for this adventure, no Oscar nods here. The music was not John Williams' best but his use of music cues was great. If you've got an ear for that you'll see what I mean. And damn I'm glad Marion was the one chosen to come back. We were this close to having Willie Scott returning as the Love interest. No time for love Dr. Jones, indeed.

After it was all over and I added it up, would it have been as good if it were Harrison Ford in an old hat and leather jacket punching and swinging thru danger as another character? Or even a new young actor in a new role? No. It had to be Indy, and as such the movie can't be compared to just any other average movie, it's got to be compared with the other Indy movies. They really are in a category all by them selves. So do I recommend it? Hell yeah! It's fun no matter if you thought it was good or bad. I promise you'll be humming the 'Raiders March' all the way home.

No cartoon today! But I have this cat that someone in my building may or may not own. Judging from his size, he's eating pretty well though. I first noticed him due to his little Hitler mustache. But the combo of the Hitler 'stache and the EVIL GLOWING EYES kinda let me know, he's always watching.
And with a 'stache like that, he's plotting something too.
Something sinister.

Beerfest 2008

Apparently it's that time of year again. I was lucky and found out at the last minute (Thanks a lot Mark!) But I went and had many many beers and have the vaguest recollection of the night. It was great!

Or so they tell me.
