Reinforced Records goes Digital in September
Current mood: working
before there was a genre called Jungle/Drum & Bass, over 200 12" record releases ago and more years than we care to remember we, Ian 'Da Rebel' Bardouille, Mark 'Marc Mac' Clair, Gus Lawrence & Dennis 'Dego' McFarlane...the original members of 4hero setup Reinforced Records, the blueprint label for things to come...it was a labour of love and still is to this day so we're kind of proud of this little achievement.
we're going Digital in September on all the usual download stores for the 1st time so over the coming months you'll be able to get the previously only available on eBay hard to find gems including at some point what some people regard as the 1st drum & bass long player by yours truly...press release here. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=52672620&blogID=424158501

a time to blog
Current mood: geeky
Category: Music
read: long time friend, associate, fellow hoarder of the black stuff(vinyl), & extended member of the cru Dez Parkes gets a well overdue interview with Fitzroy Da Buzzboy in Soul Survivors, if you want to know a little history of music, this guy is the one...sometimes we have to pinch ourselves with the stories Dez has to tell, but then we remember he's the guy that brought Roy Ayers to our studio in Dollis Hill for a truly unforgettable session & education class all rolled into one...it's a good read and we're working on getting him to pen a book...will keep you updated on that one...
from the interview: "The 1st album created samples for some of the biggest hip hop tunes, before those albums a lot of those tracks weren't known. They helped to resurrect the careers of artists like James Mason and Don Blackman, and inspired groups like Tribe Called Quest (used Weldon Irvine's "We Getting Down" For Award Tour). I've seen the albums in DJ's boxes it's fantastic. It's great that renowned dj's like Mark Mac from 4 Hero say those albums sparked him off. There was some controversy, however, as many that paid big money for the originals were vexed with me. (Dez laughs as he speaks)." download Issue 11 of the Soul Survivors in pdf format here.
listen: if you haven't tuned in yet then it's never too late to check out Marc Mac's Top Shelf selection, Volume 3 is on on Red Bull Music Academy Radio site now and contains as it says on the can, a selection of from the top shelf selected vinyl gems: http://www.rbmaradio.com/ARCHIVE.153.0.php?extID=0&showID=952
purchase: supporters of the black stuff, there is 4hero 12" pressure in the form of 'Look Inside', available at Juno and all good vinyl stockists with mixes from Izmabad, Daz-I-Kue & the 'taking up 1 whole side' Nu:Tone D&B remix...who said drum & bass was dead? it's been out a week and the orders are flying off the shelf...get in quick before they're all gone. buy here: http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/318600-01.htm digital release soon come...for now, support the black stuff!
lastly: Beijing Olympics 2008 on Xbox 360 & others.......1 question: who remembers Track & Field?

MySpace or Facebook?
update: finally, become a fan on the Facebook artist page...apparently Groups are for fans to congregate but ’pages’ are what artists need...we’re not making up these rules, we’re learning them! ;)

Monday February 5th 2007, it was a long time coming, the new album was released this week in the UK, the response so far has been flattering, still lots to do now it's out, glad to hear a lot of people feeling the record(not the vinyl of course, that's not with you for another 2 weeks or so)...the responses on MySpace alone have been great....thank you, thank you!!!

Current mood: awake
Category: Art and Photography
many have expressed an interest in the artwork for the new LP ,we searched long and hard for it and utilising modern technology we found the artist here on MySpace(who said the MySpace revolution was over-rated?), this is the blog that points you in the right direction, for a real spiritual uplift browse the artwork on his page:
©NaThAn JälaNi TaYloR - www.myspace.com/theartofja
if your feeling inspired by NaThAn's work, enter the competition currently being run by BBC 1xtra to come up with some original art for 4hero:
