Artist Spotlight: VadimVon (Downfall Records)
VadimVon is proud to announce that the upcoming full-length album "RiseKhaosInfernal" will be released in January of 2008 through Downfall Records, a company based in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is an honor for this American act to work with a label hailing from the birthplace of some of the most significant and influential names in the metal genre such as Dissection, Entombed, Grave, and Dismember. The album will be distributed in Scandinavia (Border Music), UK and Eire (ProSonic/PHD), Germany, France (Konklav), and Italy (Soundcave/Avantgarde Music). Downfall Records is also home to a number of great bands worldwide, including Nefarium(Ita), Misericordia(Swe), Nomenmortis(Svk), as well as Nocturn, Demonlord, Phantasma, Fatal Portrait, Handful Of Hate, and Immersed In Blood. With the production of the album in its final stages, this powerful release will prove that indeed can an underground entity from the southeastern American biblebelt cast a brooding shadow upon the European extreme metal comminity. 666 www.downfall-records.tk

An extreme new act coming from Austria, they combine the brutality and speed of the Black/Death Metal with the abysmal atmosphere of the Industrial. The new face of brutality, Apocalyptic Metal, a soundtrack for the end of the world!
Tristwood was formed in 1996 by Deimon and Neru under the name 'December'. In the early beginnings the band's style was rather traditional in the vein of e.g. Khold, Dimmu Borgir and Mayhem. Their first demo "Torment" was recorded in January 1997. They were temporarily quiet until 2001 when Neru and Jegger reformed with the name into Tristwood. In summer 2003, they recorded a 5-track MCD entitled "Fragments of the Mechanical Unbecoming". By adding programming, synthesizers and sampling, the music style that they had reached at this time could be described as a brutal, psychedelic, avant-garde and cold sort of Industrial Black Metal based on the ideas of some futuristic and technocratic dark End time-Stories (e.g. by Eric van Lustbader, Christoph Ransmayr).
In December 2003 they started their work on "Amygdala", a gripping journey through human illusions and the blackest depths of man's soul. With this album the band reached a new dimension of maturity, mainly by finding the professional singer Axumis that definitely redefined Tristwood's path of destruction. In 2005, they re-recorded some early songs written in the "Fragments…" Era so, "Svarta Daudi" EP was done.
Middle of 2005 they started to work on their new material at studio. This time the Tristwood´s sound got an approach more Death Metal with a technical invention. Some advance-songs from this recording were sent to Sound Riot Records, if even no vocals recorded, Sound Riot Records got very impressed with the improvement of the band on this new material, both musically and the playing. In September 2005 Tristwood came to sign with Sound Riot Records. The band finished the mixing and mastering process of their new album entitled "The Delphic Doctrine" in December 2005, which is a furious onslaught in 42 minutes!
Two US States Restrict Used CD Sales
Posted by kdawson on Monday May 07, @09:17PM from the papers-please dept.
DrBenway sends us to Ars Technica for a report that Florida and Utah have placed draconian restrictions on the sale of used music CDs; Wisconsin and Rhode Island may soon follow suit. In Florida, stores have to hold on to CDs for 30 days before they can sell them — for store credit only, not cash. Quoting: "No, you won't spend any time in jail, but you'll certainly feel like a criminal once the local record shop makes copies of all of your identifying information and even collects your fingerprints. Such is the state of affairs in Florida, which now has the dubious distinction of being so anal about the sale of used music CDs that record shops there are starting to get out of the business of dealing with used content because they don't want to pay a $10,000 bond for the 'right' to treat their customers like criminals."

OZZY OSBOURNE HAS 'NO AXES TO GRIND' WITH HEAVEN AND HELL
By: Don Kaye
Ozzy Osbourne has nothing but good wishes for Heaven And Hell, the Black Sabbath offshoot featuring founding members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, along with the man who replaced Osbourne in Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio. Osbourne, who's toured in recent years with the original Sabbath, says he's long past holding any grudges: "I have no axes to grind with 'em anymore. I mean, people keep saying, 'We all know they're really Black Sabbath but they're going out as Heaven And Hell.'Hey, if they're having fun, who am I to say no? I don't hate anyone. I mean, Ronnie James Dio is a great singer. I mean, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't pissed off when I got fired from Black Sabbath. I thought my career was over. In actual fact it was the best thing that ever happened to me, you know."
Osbourne recently said that the original Black Sabbath will record a new album next year, but recording plans for the legendary band have been announced and abandoned before.
Heaven And Hell is currently touring the U.S. and plays on Saturday (May 5th) in the Chicago area.
Osbourne will release his new solo album, Black Rain, on May 22nd. The singer will perform on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live the evening of the album's release.
Osbourne is headlining this summer's "free" Ozzfest, which will start on July 12th in Seattle.
