My new eyes
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Life
For everyone that does not know---I have new eyes. Gone are the glasses that I have been wearing 4-EVER. Thanks to Lasiks Plus, I now see 20/18 out of both of my eyes, w/o glasses. My left eye is set for near sightedness and my right eye for farsightedness. Trust me when I say, it is the greatest thing ever. Anyone thinking about getting it done, should stop thinking about it, and JUST DO IT!!!!. It is the best thing ever. My oldest son, who took me to have it done, was able to watch the entire procedure, and he says that it was pretty interesting, all I can say is, it was the best 10 minutes of my life. I wish I had done it sooner, then I would not have lost the ability to focus, and thus would not necessarily have needed to have monovision replacement. (That is the ability to see both near and far.) But I am still grateful, because they didn't think they could get it so close to 20/20, but I was blessed enough to be able to not only see well, but to see almost 20/20 in both eyes WITH the monovision. They say this is rare. However, I must give God some glory and praise here, because not only did He allow my procedure to be a success, Hallelujah, but it was even more of a success than even the people that did the procedure thought it would be. You see my eyes were pretty bad, even with the glasses--I was wearing tri-focals, and still I had to take them off to see things up close. Now I am seeing everything and I am shouting it from the roof tops. Again, anyone that is thinking about it, JUST DO IT, you will be so happy you did. The best part about it, they work with you to finance the procedure--Same as cash. You just can't beat that, pay on time, and you never have to wear glasses again. GREAT!!!!!! I'll keep you posted--because this is guaranteed for a lifetime--you just can't beat it. So, again, if you are thinking about having it done--the people at Lasiks Plus, will help you and they are a great group of people to work with. Everyone I came in contact with there, has had the procedure done, and they are living, breathing, walking advertisements, and you can't beat that, PLUS, they were extremely nice--even when I went and did soemthing so crazy as get something in my eye, doing something I wasn't supposed to be doing, they were nice enough to stay late to assist me and get it cleared out. Needless to say, I am playing this thing by the book from now on, it is not good when you can't clear something out of your eye, when you have just had surgery on it. They were great though, and got me squared away, and out the door in less than 20 minutes, and were nice about it, I guess this sometimes happens. Anyway, anyone wearing glasses, trust me, it is more than worth getting this done. AND might I recommend--LASIKS PLUS in Kenwood. They are the greatest. Be blessed and I pray you were blessed by reading this. Because I am blessed to share it. So, to Dr. Marino and his team at LASIKS PLUS, many, many KUDOS!!!!

CAKES
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Life
Hey everyone, I finally figured out how to add some pictures of some of the cakes I have done. I don't have them all, because I didn't take a picture of all of them, but for the ones I did, I figured out how to put them on my space. Tell me what you think. Also, I am in the process of doing a Barbie cake, and can't wait to see what it will look like, as well as a very special cake for my son's birthday. You can see, he and my new daughter let me make their wedding cake, and I had a blast doing it. I had help from some really nice people, one of whom is becoming quite special in his own right with the family, and might I add he was able to throw down on some roses, and he is a quick learner. My girl wasn't so bad either, but as I said I had some help with all those roses, there were over 400 needed for the cakes. Hope you liked the Superman. That was my son's idea for his Groom's cake. Hope you like the cakes, and have as much fun looking them over as I had decorating them.

Nice people
Current mood: content
Category: Friends
Just some thoughts: Don't you just love it when you are around nice people. I was sitting here reflecting on just life in general, and happy that for the most part I surround myself with nice people. Occasionally someone that is negative slips in, but I will quickly attempt to deflect the situation, or remove myself from it. I have learned, that if you can't change the people around you, YOU change the people around you. So, in an effort to remain, Complaint free, (I'm on my 5th day) I am prayerfully doing much better at keeping people that are positive around more often, and those that are not, less often. It is hard to change old habits, and easy to complain about it, but I am learning to pray more and complain less. Gives you a different prespective on life and living.
What is great is that my kids, (they are adults) attempt to do the same. My oldest son is about to get married, to a wonderful young lady I might add; my middle son, his young lady is nice also, and even my daughter has finally met her match in a young man. Life is finally settling in, but not so much at getting comfortable, as getting settled, for now. I always know that something else is always on the horizon, so comfortable is a position I never really get in, in any situation, just content. There is a difference.
One thing is for sure, in everything I give thanks, for the good and the bad, whether happy or sad, because if I can't praise God when I am down, there is no need to praise Him when I am up. He wants our total praise, and it does not matter to me what the world thinks, but how I present myself to the Lord. Prayerfully, both are received well.
So, everyone that has a mind to read this today or perhaps another day, be blessed and know that I am praying for you.
Just some thoughts!

Are you just absolutely tired of the snow???????
Current mood: anxious
Category: Life
Okay, so I know there is nothing I can do about the snow and ice, but, I AM TIRED OF IT!!!!!!
So I leave out of my house this morning, trying to be as careful as possible, because several weeks ago, while walking my dog at 6:30 a.m., I fall, but good and hit my head. I had a headache for several days, and am still experiencing a headache, I beleive from the fall, every now and then. Now, I am too old to keep falling, but the week before, that very same dog pull me to the ground, because he did not want to walk across the street and away from someone coming towards us. That day, thankfully, I fell in the snow. But, several weeks ago, I was not so lucky. I didn't even know what happened, I was up one minute, and down the next, and I think I passed out, because when I woke up, I was freezing, it was zero degrees out there, but before that, I was bundled up enough not to feel it. However, after the fall, and being out for, I don't know, possibly only a few minutes, I woke to freezing and praying that God would help me get home, and that crazy dog, licking my face, as if to say, "WAKE UP, I am getting snowed on." You see, I failed to mention it started snowing like crazy while I was out there. It wasn't even looking like it was going to snow when I started out, but, after I got out there about a mile and a half, it started coming down like there was no tomorrow. Anyway, I digress, I say all this to say, I am getting too old to keep falling. This is the 4th time I have fallen this winter. I am tired of the snow and ice. Each time I have fallen, there has been snow and/or ice involved in the fall. The first time I fell, my small dog made me fall. The next two times it was the larger dog, and this last time, it was my own fault. I call myself clearing off the snow from my drive way, but what I didn't know was that during the night, the ice would melt and refreeze, and in the morning, it would look clean, but IT WAS NOT! Needless to say, I fell yet again, and this time, I jammed my right arm, because I attempted to break my fall, but went down anyway. My files went everywhere, my coffee spilled, and there I was, on the ground, yet again. I now have the biggest bruise on my tush, a sore shoulder and arm, and my head hurts again. I just can't win with this snow and ice.
Now, everyone that knows me, already knows, I usually stay put in the snow, I am not the least bit anxious to get out there and wreck my gift from God, (my car) nor harm myself in any way, so I find this extremely ironic that I, the lady that stays in the house when it so much as drops one piece of snow or ice, has fallen 4 times in the past 2 months.
Can anyone, join in with me and say--I AM TIRED OF THE SNOW AND ICE....... and ready for Spring to begin.
Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for whatever each day brings, but as for the snow and ice. I think I have had just about all I can take for this season.
So if it is alright with God, I think it is time to move on to another season now.
Just wanted to share. That's all I got.
Thanks for listening.

Current mood: satisfied
Category: Life
| I just thought of a replacement for the one that says that I love my animals. Bridget said that one was wack. So, here it is, I sing in my sleep. Sometimes really loud, and I also laugh out loud in my sleep and wake myself up, but can't remember the dream, but can remember the song, for the moment. Usually I am still sleep, or in a dreamlike state, and will go directly back to sleep. |

I'VE BEEN TAGGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UGGHHHHHHHHHH
So apparently I have been tagged and its my turn to share 6 weird things/habits about myself - this is going to be a little difficult.
Here goes... 1) I love my afro, (you know, easy to take care of.)
2) I love my animals (I have 3 dogs, 1 cat, and a lot of fish)
3) I am very organized with my paperwork, but have a very messy area that I work at when completing the paperwork.
4) I will not eat anything that does not look right or smell right, and "right" is relative only to me.
5) I love to listen to classical music, jazz, and other music, but really don't like to hear people sing.
6) I hate to hear someone reading to me.
Well, maybe they are not too weird, but this is the way I am. I am now tagging anyone that wants to be tagged. Hey, all of my friends have already been tagged. |

Daily Devotional
Current mood: peaceful
Category: Life
I've got the perfect blog for today. It is a Devotional thought, but something we can all use, anytime.
It is titled:
Excuses or Results
W. Page Pitt should have failed, but instead he succeeded. After losing 97% of his eyesight at age 5, he refused to attend a school for the blind. He was accepted into public school where he played baseball and football. Remarkably, he went on to complete college and become a top-notch journalism professor with a reputation for demanding excellence. A student once asked Pitt which he thought would be worse; blindness, deafness, or not having arms and legs. He replied, "None of those things! Lethargy, irresponsibility, lack of ambition or desire: they're the real handicaps. If I don't teach you anything but to want to do something with your lives, this course will be a magnificent success." Often he told his journalism students, "You are not here to learn mediocrity, you're here to learn to excel. If I send you on a story and you don't get it because you've a broken leg, call me from the ambulance and I'll forgive you. But don't give me excuses! They wound me, and your explanations pour salt in the wound."
Your biggest enemy is not the challenges you face; it's complacency, negativity, self- imposed limitations and self-pity. We have all kinds of excuses for not doing more with our lives. If only we had better eyesight or were thinner or taller or came from a more privileged background. Excuses! Two millenniums ago Paul wrote, "I can do everything through Him who gives me strength" (Phil 4:13 NIV). That means with God's help you can rise above any circumstances that might otherwise spell failure.
So, excuses or results. What's it going to be for you?
SO..............................what's it going to be?
