"Some day you will die and
Somehow something's gonna steal your carbon"

-from, Parting of the Sensory

we pour
      into this world
  treacle of molecules

we mold, & form

     though years, ahead
shapeless, massless, still
   urge we not settle

not yet

we pour
    into each other
  my angry curve submits
   her soft tissue
this culture
     of our malignant parts

we pour
       across tarmac
       into buildings
     feet, dragging
heads - it is the walk
that slants us, this slow
                  pull
    to ground

      pray
when we pour
into earth

we are worth

    our weight in corpses

the universe
in a pinch
of sage

toss the
in air - dance
below - so much
like confetti

rebuild
        that condo this
        world
from photons,
   your ground, electric
pulse the anchor, fix(ed)
      words

         in the flow and furnace
     of my melting
physics, my syrupy theory of body
               & murky theory of mind

drip, drop
Category: Writing and Poetry

"and i think it's gonna rain today"

this humid day
there is a stick to every fabric
and tension in each step

of these people, slowed
by the heat, and urged
by threat of storm

awkward and nervous
in their looping gait.
with the hunched shoulders
and drooping chin
of i.t. professionals

with the anxious whine
of breeding insects

with the dragging whir
and sweaty mess
of so many subdivision
push mowers

this city is adrone

and, though they'll deny it,
for roar of thunder and
torch of lightning,

this city is begging

the city that day
Category: Writing and Poetry

this city is in me
chemically. it clots,
in the gaps of rib
and hooks
my sternum, drags
me, surrendered, home.

it irritates my senses:
    dries tongue
    constricts throat
    fidgets fingers, shoots
    my eyes full of blood:

like a bad girl or
a good drug.

this city of thick necks
and wide shoulders
commands my posture.
    quickens pulse
    expands chest --

with the pace
of so much busy oxygen.

sulcus, the fissure
this matter that
separates

we, fitful lobules
pulsing our nervous
energy, urging:
surge electric

let us gather
our long vowels
our soft consonance
- make a bed, and rest
this pounding head.

in any form
Category: Writing and Poetry

there is a moraine
here, developers
bid for townhouses
the bluff
there is a resistance
there is a thought
of you

in bonnet and dress
and natural dyes riding
the cattlepath carriage
from cambridge, apologetic

to horse for every
direction, each slight
of whip

and the sun, that glisten
on your forehead, those happy cheeks
packed with adjectives

the push

this pull

     a way, (un) love

our possibility, two

poles, bright eyes

of pegasus, too

far

he, mirror, being
the change reflected

rare vintage aging
so well - son, wine

and water.  he,
learned metaphor

a man in broad brow
strong nose, born

of sharp lines precise
efficient curves, cut

of rib and jib, sliver of
slavic stone.

he, mirrored, seeing
the change unreflected

he, larval and unbloomed -
boy, almost. soon.

measures every step by
weight of posture, so proud

and the leaden, lonely
gut - the sick note

out of tune and shoulder
slump of back and blade and
thigh crying
never quite enough
