long drives make for good wedding vibes
Current mood: dorky
10 hours down; 11 hours back. Driving for a wedding in Tampa gave me plenty of time to think about what my wedding night might be like. Here are just a few snippets for all the girls:
I've made a decision: absolutely NO zanax, hydro, T3, or oxy on my wedding day. It'll be tough to resist, but I'd rather be happy and drunk than relaxed to the point of comatose.
No poofy sleeves, frilly lace, pearls or 10ft train on the gown. "Sexy" over "cute"!
The electric slide will NEVER be played at my wedding. Neither will any Kool and the Gang, Village People, or Leanne Grimes (is that her name?).
Posing for pictures while everyone else is enjoying hors d'oevres and sipping cocktails SUX. I wanna be with my friends and family. Let the photographer follow us around. Makes for better pics anyway.
In place of cocktail weenees and cold shrimp during cocktail hour, I think I'd wanna have satays, angels on horseback, baby lamb chops, a hummus and caponata bar with crustini, and plenty of fruits and veggies.
And for dinner, I'd opt for 6 small courses that are bound to please everyone. But I'd serve 'em family style to make it more casual. (Very elegant!)
I'd love to have everyone outside for a little while to kick off their shoes, play in the grass, and enjoy the sunset together. It is a party after all, no?
Children will DEFINITELY be allowed to attend. No brainer.
And there'll be no changing into a honeymoon dress. I want to still be in my wedding gown when my new husband carries me across the threshold of our honeymoon suite. (And just think how long it'd take to undo all the snaps and buttons...purrr.)
And for a honeymoon....well, that's a decision to make with the man I'll spend the rest of my life with. Just one requirement: Someplace warm!
Well, just a few personal wedding thoughts born from a weekend of disney characters and bad food. Thought I'd share.

If it itches, give it a scratch
Current mood: thirsty
Officially 30-something...
At 18, I knew everything. read: nothing. By 25, the official adult mark, at least I knew that it was time to get serious, go back to school, find out what's really gonna make me happy. By 30 I felt like I was a real woman, experienced, pretty comfortable in my own skin, more rounded out. That's when my thighs and tummy took the "rounded out" thing to a whole new level. Hell, 33 sounded like it would be a lucky number, still pretty young, working on a few goals, having fun But then, what the hell do I know? Now 34 has crept up on me like a bed bug to bite me on the ass while I'm sleeping my life away. So--it seems like a good year to freshen things up a bit, shake out the sheets so to speak. Think I'll quit school, embark on new business ventures, force a change of climate, and latitude I suspect, and follow wherever love and opportunity lead me. I suppose I'll forever be a victim of the seven year itch. But doesn't it feel great to scratch?
Hooyah~

ahh...september
ok....so I haven't been checking in as often as I used to. {been a very bizzy bee} But I'm back in Knox, and gettin back into the swing of things. St Kitts was a learning experience (duke fest '05, Tiger's at the Marriot, beach bars with no bathrooms, scorpions and centipedes, etc. etc.) NJ was yummy (Sundays on the boat, jetskiing, seeing Moms) and moving into my new place was hell on earth (but I love the house--party soon come). I'm pretty much OVER school but going through the motions can't hurt, right? Recently became single again (haallllleluuuuuujah). And am REALLY looking forward to September. There's something about the change in the weather, change in me (or so the song goes, ay?) So, that's the current me...
PEace,

catch up (or ketchup...you decide)
Current mood: chipper
Ahh…the Blog. How I’ve neglected you. It’s been hard to find time to share my little bubble. Two road trips (hoods up, thugged out, two crazed women on a mission), a crazy family (seroquiyl, a hospital trip, and blam! wacko!), neighbors' practical jokes (how r those pantie raid bruises healing?), packing up friends (damn right! we did it!), a mutinous immune system (3 infections and counting), a b-boy (nuff said), and a pending move (anybody wanna make an extra buck?!) have all conspired to keep me from writing. But I promise to prioritize a little better. Expect a couple cranks of the machine real soon.
I shall strum computer keystrokes like strings of a lute…sing a song of storybook fun…love and laugh and live to tell the tale…cross my heart!

Have a laugh~

Which ru?
Current mood: bouncy
A SOCIAL TRANSIENT?
A person who glides between groups of people, dependent on the mood, season, scene, etc. Sometimes surrounded by people, phone ringin off the hook, and something of a loner at other times, "no calls, please". But you're pretty comfortable in both situations.
A GROUPIE?
Not averse to meeting new people, but most comfortable in a room full of people you know pretty well. Your weekends are spent with pretty much the same crowd. You take trips together. You know their tastes in food/music/sex partners, etc. You can always count on at least one of your homies to hit a restaurant or club with you. And that's how you like it.

music scene chat...
SEKONE WROTE:
music??? I wonder why is it so hard to understand that when I say I like HIP HOP not rap their is a geniune difference in the two????It really makes perfect since I'll admit that sometimes the lines are blurred but honestly a blindperson could see the difference.I listen to more than just Hip HOp but I had along drawn out conversation about this subject last night and well it was like trying to expain the difference between night and day?You know could it be that society has molded us into being so blind that we except anything that's received the title as music?I mean I can remember when if you had no talent that meant you went to work in the morning to a JOB,not had millions and did nothing but act like a complete moron with no education or self awareness! You know the are a ton of artist who made real contributions to the music world who died poor, because their music wasn't really heard until after they had already passed, but now you can make crap and be rich????Wait I think I'm hating the player,oh wait I'm hating the game too,I think???LMAO I can't stand bullshit, and it makes me feel narrowminded the way some music I hear affects me but I must admit that I can't help it.Somethings just repulse me and I fear that I might spontaneously combust if I'm forced to stay there and listen to it.You see I love music all kinds from HIP HOP,PUNKROCK,HARDCORE,HOUSE,OLDIES,FUNK,CLASSIC R&B(with some new?),JAZZ,AND MANY MANY MORE but I cant stand the bullshit that I have to hear in the clubs or on the radio most of the time!!!I realize that there just isn't alot of great songs being put out now but I'm mean come on,if I see another twelve year old singing some ying yang or lil john I think might just have to go ahead and vomit all over the place. You know it's pretty simple really song writing is suppose to reflect ones feelings whether good or bad, however it's a form of art, being an mcee(master of ceramony,AKA-RAPPER?)is the same idea however it's has been tarnished and I'm not sure if it can be redeemed to it's once respected form.MCEEING is suppose to be like poetry,it tells a story if,reflects upon past experience,or explains an emotion, however the other aspect is battling which is still artistic but more of comedic stand point well if you're good at battling it is.I'm not sure what made me run off on this rant but I think it needed to come out and I'm sure not everyone one will understand but if one person does then atleast someone understands.
Use your real eyes to see their real lies, only through this can you begin to realize that the treachorus tales they spit are nowhere near legit,is it only murder and mayhem that can possibly appeal,or just for a moment can we speak on something real,it makes no sense why you're ass is so dense, skills knowledge truth are the only things I present, yes that's right skills do you have any to represent, doubt it but like the rest of the toy soldiers I'm sure you're 'bout it,see I got more instore but why take up more time than needed for either way they will be defeated, and from a true headz lips true hip hop is repeated- SEKONE 6:59 PM - 4 Comments - 6 Kudos - Add Comment
I WROTE:
No doubt. I remember the days of real house parties--like at somebody's house--with a mic and a couple turn tables. But then, that was up north. Some kids (not all) down here seem pretty comfortable with their own ideas of different music...Got myself into trouble the other night talkin about the rave scene here, so I know what it's like tryin to open people up to the essence.
HOWEVER, Saw a new band this week in Knoxvegas that was off the richter! MICRODAHTS' Emcees rocked the mics; live drums, bass, guitar, scratch tables--the whole shabang, man. lyrically---roots in reality, groove and flow, the real deal. It was a 4/20 show. Rocked. They're comin back to BlueCats on 5/20. Y'all should think about a road trip. I've got a pretty comfy couch!

clearing the canvas
Current mood: Full...Must...Purge...
Woke up this morning with a burning need to purge. So while I’m tucked up tight in my yummy bed drinking my little coffee, thought I’d unload on out to cyberspace. Ahh…the power of myspace.
To Lana: Hunny, you have been a gem to find. You’re honest, real, responsible, funny, loud, and generous. You’re a great friend to have. Me loves you. Kick ass in Cal Berkely this summer, hot mama. To Angel: You are an angel. I love just hanging with you. I’d also love living across the street from you or in the same house or around the corner or something. Holly, I’m jealous! (j/k Holly, me loves you too.) Don’t let the bastards at work wear you down! To Shane: Kudos for marrying a punk rocker! How come we don’t talk more archaeology? Got enough skeeter-beater for SC? To David: you know you want me! To Rob: Happy to have hashed things out, my friend. To Lenore: I got the love for you mama. No way around it. To Johnny: If I knew our friendship was built on your strategy to get in my pants, then I’d never have invested my love in you. My disappointment in you is endless. Perfect timing, by the way. Have any idea what that conversation did to my night? See note to downtown crowd, you SHMUCK. To Emma: You make me happy happy happy when you tell me about your little world. I have a mental picture of you smiling at the concert. You’ll always be in my life, sweetheart. And I will always be around for you, too. MWAH. To Erin: Followed your dream right into the Village, huh? Spring Street? Woohoo~ If you put together a brochure, I’ll help promote your glass, darling. I’ve seen your work and you’re worth it! I wish for you lasting happiness and contentment. Don’t go burnin yourself up on a kiln or anything, k? To Tommy: Take me to Tailand! Let’s go see Mike and Minas on Karpathos! Fuck it. Come see me in St. Kitts. I LOVE traveling with you—no drama, just love , sun, wine, and sites. Ahhhhh…..god I love you, man. To Doobie: I had to include you on this thing, cuz you’re on my mind this morning. Arrowheads? Painting? Poetry? Party? It’s nice to know he didn’t break the mold, you know? **smooches**
To all the other people in my life I didn’t get a chance to mention: I wanna thank you all for holding me together these past couple months. Nearly came unglued a couple of times, but with understanding people around, it was all good in the end. I know my crankiness lately has kept me from saying it often enough and I promise to say it f2f when I see you next, but I have much love for you. Now, summer is upon us. Let’s exploit our time with the sun, shall we?
Coffee’s cold and it’s getting late…so I’m off to take the hottest shower I can stand and get my fanny out of the house. If anyone would like to picnic or something fun and outdoorsy this weekend, hit me up. Peace~
