So, where the heck...
Current mood: amused
have we been?
I know, it's been a while since I've checked in...my bad. But we've been busy...
Sean has been all nose-to-the-brimstone lately, working with Manson on the new Marilyn Manson record... it's cool, real cool... And Sean's having a lot of fun, so that's all good stuff...
He did take a quick break for us to play the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation "Diamond Ball" in Miami. We had a great time, and we played an arena! Beyonce was there receiving an award for her contributions (she does a lot of work with children's charities). She looked lovely...classy. We didn't meet her but it was funny being backstage and hearing the walkie-talkies going off with "Beyonce's on the move!" Imagine any scene in a movie where the secret service in moving the president...it sounded like that... so keep that in mind as I relate the next little bit:
It turned out that we and Beyonce were going to be leaving the venue around the same time and from the same exit (a giant loading dock in back). Sean and I are there with our driver (yeah, they got us a limo...it was nice.) waiting for the van to come to pick up our rack and take it to the hotel.... While we're waiting, the huge loading door rolls open and two black SUVs back into the backstage area (there's plenty of room for this...the place was huge)...they park and the loading door rolls shut again. Holding pattern, awaiting they're cargo and cue... Our van shows up. Rack gets loaded in, Sean goes with the gear (cuz he's responsible like that)... I go with the limo...because our driver insisted, and why not enjoy the glam of it? It's raining and warm and humid out. Sean and the gear pull away immediately and are off to the hotel. I get in our limo and think about packing for the plane tomorrow and how much I love and this miss tropical rain... really. At the same moment, Orlando (our driver) begins to make what would be a 57-point turn around in the loading area....no worries. I'm not in a hurry and he's a really nice guy, so I don't care... In the second point of this turn around, just as we're effectively blocking the loading doors, they fly open. I see the lights of the SUVs flash into life, and the vehicles make an urgent surge with all the intention to fly like great big, shiny bats outta hell... and then they stop short. They moved three feet. They sat idling while we finished our 57-point turn (which we were about 2 or 3 moves into).. I, I am nearly in tears holding back laughter because all I can think is of what I imagine the walkie chatter must have been: "Beyonce is on the move!" "She's in the car!" "Beyonce is a go!" "GO! GO! GO!" "Uh, what the fuck?"
I did manage to get my phone out to twitter, "blocking Beyonce's limos with our limo" ;P
Ah, oh... it made me and Sean laugh so I thought I share.
love, Juliette

couple two-three things...
I'll have more updates tomorrow, but a couple quick notes on the store right now:
The "On a Silent Night" limited edition eps are sold out. They won't be anymore in print. However, look for the holiday songs on iTunes this season, with a few new ones as well.
There are about 3 Opener EPs left. We will probably not be printing hard copies of the debut ep again, so grab one now if you don't already have it. ;) All of the "Opener" songs are available digitally on iTunes, Rhapsody, etc... so don't worry they're not lost. But if you want something to hold in your hot little hands... order now.
Ok, that's about it for the moment...more soon. If you're in San Diego, we'll see you tonight! :) And if you're in LA, we'll announce an ALL AGES show very soon!
Love, 8mm
p.s. here's a link to our merch, we're independent so your support really counts. :) www.shop8mm.com

last night...
Ok, first for Cathy & Tina (btw, Tina, the picture with the Silon is AWESOME...don't listen to your stupid brother...in the immortal words, er, or text message, of Andrew Gerold, "BSG bitches!!!")
...and 8mm has gotta play ComicCon one year...I mean, seriously, could somebody make a call?
Next, as promised (for Cathy)..."what my brain does while I'm driving around" (especially if I've got NPR on the radio) OR what Sean and I lovingly refer to as "Juliette's bullsh*t theories"...
so here's a couple:
1) Huey Lewis is responsible for our prescription drug culture. I know, you're torn between "Huey would never hurt us!" and "who is Huey Lewis??". (and to be acurate, I thought of this one in the shower)... but hear me out. I don't think he meant to do it. Listen to the lyrics of "I Wanna New Drug"...then imagine a 14 year old kid in the 1980s, be-speckled and pocket-protected and coincidentally, an aspiring chemist...anyway, he's rockin' out to his all time favorite band, Huey Lewis and the News when he hears, "I Wanna New Drug". Upon listening to his idol's lament for a panacea...our intrepid teen make a solemn promise within his heart and cries out, "Huey!!! I'll do it for you!!!!" ...that kid works at Pfizer now... but that's just a theory. ..did I mention, I like to make crap up? But always with a hint of truth... I mean, that could have happened... ;)
Alright....so maybe just one for tonight. I should be sleeping anyhow... I'll post the other later and subsequently any new musings. (they are not conspiracies, Tina!)
OH, and why should I be sleeping? This is the actual news, I'm doing some modeling for Stop Staring! Clothing tomorrow... Whoohoo! I love their dresses. They're an independent company, the clothing is not made in sweat shops and the designer and her peeps are just way cool. (the new red polka dot one that everyone's commenting on is by Stop Staring!..btw) I'll post pictures from the shoot when I get them (both the official ones and behind the scenes)
Ok, I'll write more soon... Love, Juliette
