LIP SERVICE

Save it for your dog.

Speak the truth.

That doesn't, though, mean that you have to be rude.  It is good to learn when not to say anything.

HARLOT VICTIM

Born in innocence
In truths full potency
Created by one breath
A host of Angels awaited thee.

The pages of your adolescence
I see no ink has touched
So I know not of your joys and struggles
Nor what has molded you to be as such.

Your innermost wounds
I see in your eyes
So raw and unattended to
No act of merriment could disguise

I know of hands that will heal you
In contrast to all who gave gifts to deceive.
These hands offer you no earthly payments
But the gifts…oh my friend, if only you'll believe!

Oh lost soul, there is a Divine Lover
That your heart he desires to enmesh
He does not seek, nor would not love you
For the sake of your flesh.

My soul bleeds with compassion
Aches for you to be free
Oh Mighty Lover, seize the girl!
I pray thee!

Talents, gifts...

It is indeed a tragedy not to share our gifts with others.  It is a greater tragedy to abuse our gifts.

thought for the day...

He who seeks truth shall find beauty
He who seeks beauty shall find vanity
He who seeks order shall find gratification
He who seeks gratification shall be disappointed
He who considers himself the servant of his fellow beings
shall find the joy of self-expression
He who seeks self-expression shall fall into the pit of arrogance
Arrogance is incompatible with nature
Through nature, the nature of the universe and the nature of man, we shall seek truth
If we seek truth, we shall find beauty.

From a poem 'Form and Purpose,' Edited by John Kettle

2 years!!

Today is my 2 year sobriety birthday...WOO HOO!

Thanks be to God!  And to my family, especially my mom who introduced me to a certain 12 step program of recovery.  And to everyone in that program who has shown genuine concern for me.  And even to the ones who have not been the greatest example, from them, I have still learned something. And to all those who have  merely been present in a mtg I attended.  Every person counts.  Every person is a sign that there are thousands of us out there. That we are not alone.  That we need eachother.  And most of all, that we need GOD to help us.

So THANKS!!!!!!!  to all of my "friends of Bill" out there. Thanks to Bill, Bob, Sister Ignatia (1889-1966) and all of the first ones to help eachother, under the guidance of God to create the 12 step program.

And I thank my "higher power's'" Holy children...St. Padre Pio, St. Dymphna, St. Therese', St. Anthony, St. John the apostle, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael.  And last but most certainly not least...His Mother, Our lady of perpetual help.

I SEEK YOU

I seek you my love, who art love itself.
I seek you in a masculine face.
You must be here in one them.
Amongst the peoples of this treacherous place.

Breathe yourself into one of them
This favor on me won’t you bestow?
That I may run my hand along the features
Of one who sees in me
The entity that makes his own blood flow.

Oppressing, the desert souls I find
As I travel through my days.
Absent of the rivers of life
That quench, renew and strengthen
In all of your mysterious ways.

To hold the hand of another
That keeps you in his heart
On his lips and on his mind.
This I long for. This I seek.
And shall till earth I depart.

Echoes from the 5th century

The Easter Resurrection Homily

St. John Chrysostom

Early Church Father & Doctor of the Church

Easter Resurrection, St. John Chrysostom, Early Church Father, Doctor of the Church

This classic Paschal Sermon of Saint John Chrysostom, fifth century early church father and one of the greatest preachers of all time.  This homily for Holy Pascha exhorts all, even those who have not kept the Lenten fast, to rejoice and enter into the Easter feast of the resurrection.

Let all Pious men and all lovers of God rejoice in the splendor of this feast; let the wise servants blissfully enter into the joy of their Lord; let those who have borne the burden of Lent now receive their pay, and those who have toiled since the first hour, let them now receive their due reward; let any who came after the third hour be grateful to join in the feast, and those who may have come after the sixth, let them not be afraid of being too late, for the Lord is gracious and He receives the last even as the first.  He gives rest to him who comes on the eleventh hour as well as to him who has toiled since the first: yes, He has pity on the last and He serves the first; He rewards the one and is generous to the other; he repays the deed and praises the effort.

Come you all: enter into the joy of your Lord.  You the first and you the last, receive alike your reward; you rich and you poor, dance together; you sober and you weaklings, celebrate the day; you who have kept the fast and you who have not, rejoice today.  The table is richly loaded: enjoy its royal banquet.  The calf is a fatted one: let no one go away hungry.  All of you enjoy the banquet of faith; all of you receive the riches of his goodness.

Let no one grieve over his poverty, for the universal kingdom has been revealed; let no one weep over his sins, for pardon has shone from the grave; let no one fear death, for the death of our Savior has set us free: He has destroyed it by enduring it, He has despoiled Hades by going down into its kingdom, He has angered it by allowing it to taste of his flesh

Saint John CrysostomWhen Isaiah foresaw all this, he cried out: "O Hades, you have been angered by encourntering Him in the nether world."  Hades is angered because frustrated, it is angered because it has been mocked, it is angered because it has been destroyed, it is angered because it has been reduced to naught, it is angered because it is now captive.  It seized a body, and lo! it discovered God; it seized earth, and, behold! it encountered heaven; it seized the visible, and was overcome by the invisible.

O death, where is your sting?  O Hades, where is your victory?  Christ is risen and life is freed, Christ is risen and the tomb is emptied of the dead: for Christ, being risen from the dead, has become the Leader and Reviver of those who had fallen asleep.  To Him be glory and power for ever and ever.  Amen.

ACCEPTANCE

I believe it is the key to this world.  Everything that we come across is a gift.  Wether it seems like something negative or not, it is a gift. -A learning tool.  We just need to open our eyes, see it, and pay attention and we’ll realize this.

Things won’t always come when we want them, but they’ll come when we need them.

Accept what comes your way.

Everytime you see a quote, or someone tells you a story, or you read an article, or you hear a song, or you meet a person...there is a message there.  -Especially for you.

Just listen.

 It is a gift.

Accept it.

twisted.

Truth -twisted,

diluted.

Wrapped up in lies-

In pretty packages with matching bows.

Many look.  Many admire-

Are drawn in by the beauty.

Deceived by the bit of truth they see and know.

Yet fail to see it as the bait.

Yes, even "he" uses Truth.

As a trap.

Like the little mouse who see's a simple piece of cheese.

Isn't cheese good?  Wouldn't it be tasty to eat?

And be filling to the appetite?

Of course, thats why it's there.

But what happens when the mouse goes and eats the cheese?

The mouse fails to see the trap which holds it.

Only see's what looks appetizing-

What looks good- what would feel good.

So it eats.

And the fate of the poor ignorent mouse is known.

What of you?  Do you see the trap?  Or only the bait?

And what of your fate, if you choose to take a bite?

All at once

Artist: The Fray
Album: How To Save A Life
Year: 2005
Title: All At Once

There are certain people you just keep coming back to
She is right in front of you
You begin to wonder could you find a better one
Compared to her now she's in question

And all at once the crowd begins to sing
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

Maybe you want her maybe you need her
Maybe you started to compare to someone not there

Looking for the right one you line up the world to find
Where no questions cross your mind
But she won't keep on waiting for you without a doubt
Much longer for you to sort it out

And all at once the crowd begins to sing
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

Maybe you want her maybe you need her
Maybe you started to compare to someone not there
Maybe you want it maybe you need it,
Maybe it's all you're running from,
Perfection will not come

And all at once the crowd begins to sing
Sometimes
We'd never know what's wrong without the pain
Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

Maybe you want her maybe you need her
Maybe you've started to compare to someone not there
Maybe you want it maybe you need it
Maybe it's all you're running from
Perfection will not come

Maybe you want her maybe you need her
Maybe you had her maybe you lost her to another
To another

EMPTY SPOOL

Is this true? Is there room-
In this heart I own?
I finally found, a day had past-
No thought of you was sown.

Still- was the needle
That stitched your image
Endlessly on my tender heart.
At last- a day- without scrimmage
Of my dreams against reality.

Is this true? Has the thread run out?
No more shall you torment my mentality?
Is the needle threading another color-
Is another picture being sown?

An empty spool, in my heart I see-
No longer holding the color green.
It seems time has run its course-
Only fading images of you shall be seen.

I pray my soul holds a thimble
If another color is in fact being thread.
For I can not handle the tireless needle
Piercing, for years, an image that is dead.

May this one still day- turn into two
And three and four and more...
May at last my hopes let go of you-
And other colors may I explore.
