Why Palin scares me...
Category: News and Politics

This is a post from a Chicago Improv forum I participate in and I thought I would re-post to my blog. This woman Palin is pretty worrisome to me.

1. She's Pro-Life. Roe vs. Wade will take a beating again. (Before you start calling me a baby killer, I'm not for abortion (Anyone that says they are is an idiot.) but I am for a woman's right to make that choice.

2. She's an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the NRA.

3. She has two on going ethics investigations about how she tried to get her Ex-Brother in law fired as he was going through a nasty custody battle with her sister.

4. She has less experience than Obama (Something McCain's camp is constantly on about.)

5. If McCain kick's the bucket 1-4 of the above notes would be our President. THAT SCARES ME.

But most of all I wanted to share this post where someone had stated that no matter what we are getting change because whoever wins we will either have our first black president or or first female VP and I say that's not enough. -- (BTW, I am voting Obama. )

I am hearing the word change bantered so much that I feel we are buying into something just because everyone is talking about it.

But, saying that we are changing because a person is a different sex or color is not an overall change. And (imho) not the change we need. It's like only buying Buick's your whole life then going to get a Nissan. You're still driving a car! The change we need is more along the lines of not buying a car and getting on a bus. And being more than just "OK" with that. We need to be honestly excited about it.

We are 30 years late in the "its change because the candidate is a different color or sex" that needed to happen in the 1970's. I personally don't care about the sex or race issue in these choices. I care about our foreign policy, I care about getting our soldiers out of the Middle East without causing a complete collapse of their government (we already left Afghanistan hanging once and that opened a huge door for the Taliban we need to get out, but not cut support.) we need the kind of changes that will stop the downward spiral of our economy and raise job rates. We need the kind of changes that will stop a wall being built between California and Mexico (at a expected budget in the multi-millions) that will be worse than worthless when its done. Our world image has crumbled, our recession is bringing the world economy down around everyone's ears and our war is raising our debt by the second.

We need change that comes from someone saying "This has been Fcked since 1979 and it needs to stop" We need the old school of thought tossed and start to bring in some ideas that will make a difference. I want to see change that affects that mass of trash floating in between California and Hawaii that is so polluted with chemicals it wont even let the water oxygenate so fish can swim in it (I watched a special where an F'n Marlin swam into that dead zone and turned tail so fast you would have thought it had warp engines not fins!)
-----

Now some have brought up her baby who has Downs, I want to call BULLSHIT on that -

As many of you know, my brother is Downs, and my Mother managed to raise him and myself all by herself and hold down a job while she did it. And that new baby has four brothers and sisters to help out. Is the White House the same? No. But I do not think there will be a single problem this woman can't handle with that baby that will prevent her from doing the job of VP. If she did get in that baby will be the luckiest Downs baby in the world.

I'm not a fan of this woman, but she should not be judged nor should her kid because of Downs Syndrome. Dear God! Why don't we just turn back the hands of time to 1959?

I think McCain made a bad call, its good for Obama as no Clinton supporter is going to love this woman like they love Hillery. And it feels like McCain is saying "What? You want a Chick in the White House??? Here! This is a Chick like you Chicks! I'll make her... Uh.. My VP!! Yeah! There you go Hillery supporters!"

boooo....

Little bit of an update...
Category: Life

Went and put money down on my Birthday tattoo, The Tao Of Pooh won out.

Got me an Illinois drivers license and only missed one on the test.

Learning Adobe After Effects and loving it. I'm at a slow point in my book so my eyes hurt tonight. I have a project to get done this week.

Comedy Sportz classes are going well and I am having a good time. Glad to be playing again.

Amanda went dress shopping at Davids and since she signed up with them for something the Men's Warehouse started bugging us to come over and set up our tuxes. So finally we did, we walk in.. Tell the guy the date of the wedding and he goes "Well, that's over a year from now! What are you doing here?" I swear the look on our face must have been great because I think I actually saw him take a step back. "We're here, becuase you people will not stop calling us!" he chuckled and said "Oh, yeah.. I heard they are getting agressive on the phone calls.." He showed us some tuxes and then told us he would put a note that we stopped by and not to call for at least six months. So far so good.

This weekend we are going canoeing down the river with a bunch of folks and going to a party.

Not much after that. But! If you have not all ready checked out my
Twitter then please take a look, I installed an app that will update on my MySpace and Facebook. I am basically just snapping a shot (at least) a day of whatever interests me in Chicago.

Cheers everyone!

Guiness = AWESOME! (Video and life update)

one more

--------------------------------

Had my second Comedy Sportz class last night am having a blast. I never would have expected this class to kick my ass as hard as it has and that's making me happy. We also had more than three people which is nice.

Afterward I met up with a pal from the show Twisty and slammed a few Guiness's and just shot the shit got home at 1am and fell asleep like it was my job.

This last weekend Amanda's parents, sister and cousin were in town shopping for wedding dresses while her dad and I went to a "Architectural Artifacts" shop / museum which was a real hoot. If you have never been to one of these places I would highly suggest it. Its like a antique shop but its stock is all stuff from old houses and such.

Sunday we went down to Navy Pier and watched the Blue Angels fly around. JESUS WAS THAT AMAZING!!

Wednesday its my turn to try on wedding clothing.

Dead BIGFOOT found??? We find out Friday!
Category: News and Politics

'Bigfoot' Trackers Claim They've Found Their Prey

It's more than 7-feet tall. Weighs over 500 pounds and walked upright -- three "Bigfoot" seekers, including a Redwood City man, Wednesday claimed they have proof that they have found the body of the elusive creature in the wilds of Georgia. And on Friday, at a news conference in Palo Alto, they say they will present DNA evidence to prove the carcass of "Rickmat" is that of a bigfoot.

Read all of it here >>

Friday should be interesting. I hope its not something stupid like a dead bear carcass with its face crushed or something. Some people are saying that Montauk Monster is a dead dog (Which is what it does look like) I also remember a story some years ago about a sea monster that looked like a dragon had washed up on a beach. Turns out that was a whale... People just to conclusions WAY to fast.

Need some input. Tattoo’s I am thinking of...
Category: Life

For my 38th birthday Amanda is going to buy me a tattoo. Now as with many people I want something that I will love and enjoy. It should also feel like me when you see it.. Here are some of my thoughts so far, I will post the pic and the where I would get it. Most are upper right hand shoulder.

First one -

The Hopi Badger Paw. The Hopi Indians are from my home state of New Mexico and Arizona. They believe that the Badger is a healing symbol and hold them in high regard. If I got this it would be the first of a pair on each shoulder. (Also I would have the tattoo artist make a nicer one. I made this on the fly)

Soviet Propaganda -

As an art style I have always loved it and even though I would probably not get it all in reds I think this would make a cool tattoo. I would get it RH shoulder or RH leg.

The Tao of Pooh -

I saw this as a tattoo once and LOVED it! I would get it on my RH leg and extend the string so the kite was under the knee

Steampunk -

As you may know I love the style. It would be different than what you see here. One of those deals that makes it look like I have a steam powered leg or arm. Could be REALLY cool if done right.

The Redwall Badger Lord Brocktree -

I love the art for this guy. But its a Eurasian Badger not a North American Badger and while I think I should have a Badger tattoo somewhere I just not 100 percent on this one

Ok my readers! What are your thoughts? Like any of these? Have a suggestion you think might be cool? Let me know!!

Well, the air sirens have stopped... So thats good. *UPDATE8
Category: Travel and Places

I guess a tornado touched down about 18 miles east of here.

Chicago tornado warning sounded; Wrigley cleared

So last night got EVEN funner after I posted this...

Chicago got one of the worst thunderstorms it has had since they started tracking the weather in the early 1900's. And let me tell you it was a doozy! Meili was up in our faces and refused to sleep and by that I could not sleep. And just as I did start to get some sleep our ceiling fan started leaking WATER onto out bed!

Ok, two problems with this...

1. Ceiling fans usually don't leak water.
2. WE LIVE ON THE SECOND OF THREE FLOORS!!!

After sliding the bed against the wall and setting up a pan to catch the water I could not sleep thinking "Is there a fucking lake in the bedroom above us? Is the ceiling going to come crashing down?"

Yeah, that was fun... There were also reports of a tornado touching down in the city. That didn't happen BUT they did see the clouds swirling as if there would be one. Wrigley Field was evacuated and the game stopped.

Speaking of Wrigley Field! Jesus H. Tap-Dancing Christ!!

When there is a game going on in Wrigleyville you can just forget traveling ANYWHERE near there. We wanted to get some Taco Bell Sunday and I said "I know where one is! Its on Addison and Clark.." I should have said "I know where a closed Taco Bell is that is now a parking lot. Its on the corner of Fucked Up St. and Eat Ass Ave.!"

Never ever again.. And I hope to NEVER live any closer to Wrigley Field than I do now.

There’s gold in dem dar hills! But at what cost?

While reading the cc2k weekly round up this morning I found myself feeling smug and happy with the knowledge that there would be a Venom movie being made. My Uber-Geek mind running with ideas of a combination between the first Crow movie and the Second Spider-Man flick. But Hollywood's new romance with Geekdom has me worried as every new superhero film is made we risk our favorite heroes and villains suddenly being translated horribly wrong by a machine only interested in what little money I have in my wallet in these times of financial woe.  I remember when the Spawn movie was released back in 1997 I was disappointed to say the least. But what also happened is I lost my interest in the comic all together. I could not get that sad rubber suit out of my head. What was beautiful art and a great idea was boiled down to a bad B-Movie with horrid CGI effects. One casualty of the comic translation to the screen. There are more I am sure but that's not the reason I have opened my word doc and started typing. No, I am writing because I feel that the next three summers are going to be filled with fodder for hungry geeks that want nothing more than to have their oversized brains blown out of the backs of their heads in the movie theaters. But for every Iron Man and new Batman movie we get we pay for it in the blood of other good heroes. Speed Racer anyone? HULK just barley made it out of the dismal Hell that the last movie left it in but since it was not a block buster we may or may not see a franchise rise out of it.

Marvel is doing their best to take a tried and unfortunately true method of getting people in the seats for their films and that is to have cross-overs. The idea is simple in comics the story line starts in one of your favorite books and has a special guest then your hero at the end of that book jumps to the special guest spot in a book that you don't read. I stopped buying comics because of this ploy. I found myself going from a simple comic addiction to spending $100.00 a week to stay up on my favorite characters as they hopped from one title to the next week after week. I don't want my movies to do the same thing. Especially since I know that not every movie is going to be a success. The odds are against us. Plus I think the Alien vs. Predator franchise was the first attempt at this idea and COULD have been brilliant but instead comes off as cheap sci-fi horror. Sad…

Now I say this as we say goodbye to an amazing summer. Iron Man, Hellboy II and Batman are all some of the best comic flicks we have ever had all in the same summer. But there were failures too. Speed Racer had a stunning look but everything else was as flaccid as a New York senator faced with only being able to make love to his wife from here on out. HULK and WANTED are good movies in their own right but neither really had the feel of a comic movie. HULK fed more off of the television series (Which I personally thought was brilliant.) and wanted felt more like a Vin Diesel flick without Vin Diesel and not really a "Superhero" movie. More of a standard action flick. I would rather see these movies pop up as winter releases where they would have more breathing space than have them compete with Indiana Jones or Batman.

I just wished I believed that Hollywood wanted to make these movies because they think the stories are as awesome as I do. Not because they see dollar signs in their eyeballs. I want this new generation of superhero movie to be made with the passion for the visuals and story that The 300 had. I want to know that the Wolverine movie will feel more like Apocalypse Now and not at all like Electra. I want Hollywood to listen to the people that made these books successful and not think about how it is easier to put superheroes in black leather jumpsuits because it will make more sense to non-comic readers. I do see positive things on the horizon. I think Watchmen will be awesome. I know Jon Favreau will guard the Iron Man movies with a lead pipe in one hand and a repulsor glove on the other. I think the Batman franchise is in good hands and will (hopefully) keep to the track of casting villains that fit the roll and do well in it, not cast then because it would "Be SO COOL to see Robin Williams as the Penguin!" at that point you might as well slap the nipples back on the bat suit and admit that you make movies by committee and not someone's personal vision. The jury is out for me on The Spirit and G.I. Joe flicks. Both of which look cheesy to me.

I put it to you Hollywood. I will pledge my hard earned dollars if you let go and produce more Hellboy and Iron Man movies.

But if I see more X-Men 3 type films then I'm going to switch to hard core porn 24/7 at least my expectations are lower for the storyline.

My dog is afraid of the BOOM-BOOM’s
Category: Pets and Animals

Last night we had a short but powerful thunderstorm (during which we discovered that my instalation or our bedroom AC window unit was not well done and not at all water tight!) So as we are trying to yank the thing out of the window to stop the flooding of said bedroom I almost trip over Meili.

"Jesus Christ dog!!!"

I yell, then I look at her face... It was if her ears were tied around her neck they were so low and her eyes were that pleading "Dad, I'm afriad of the BOOM-BOOM's."

So I hoist her up to Amanda (While calling her a Sissy-Dog) and continue to clean up our small night time flood. I read today that dogs have a thunder storm phobia and can sometimes get so worked up that they jump out of closed windows and run away. Now I dont have to worry about that with my old dog but I guess I just thought Meili was new to the whole thunder thing and would get used to it. I guess not...

Poor dog... Chicago is not always going to be fun for you.
