Well here we are starting our second week in Costa Rica. We moved out of the hotel and into beautiful condos. The Office should be ready for up in a few weeks. and is very high tech. Thing are going well. Work is insane. The people down here are very helpful. The language barrier has been a nuisance at the worst.

I miss all you guys & gals. Mi Amigos e Familia.

CostaRica 0.0.1 alpha

For those of you who don't know what alpha denotes here is a brief example from my little technical world. An "alpha" release generally is a piece of software, program or some sort computer code that has not yet been tested, is buggy and is not ready for the public.

That being said, lets visit Costa Rica 0.0.1 alpha.

We arrived at Newark 2.5 hours before take-off. Both Joe's and and my luggage were over weight causing us to both remove stuff and give to James and Sera, who accompanied us to the airport, thus making us deal a bit. I also had to send home a road case with James. All in all it went smooth with no hassle and the staff at Continental was very helpful and pleasant. Our flight was five and a half hours and was deal free until my sandwich arrived. The sandwich wash almost too hot to hold. but the center of it was frozen solid, a piece about the size of a pack of TUMS, which is what was needed after it was eaten. LOL We landed in Costa Rica at 8:30PM with no other troubles, waited about 15 min for our ride and we were of to see our abode for the next 3 months or so we thought.

The Hovel.
The ride from the airport to the house was about 10 -15 min. we pull into this gated community which at night looked a little seedy but not too bad. I was wrong in this thought. and we pull up to the house to find out that the house is under construction and internet is not in place yet and we just have to deal until morning. The only beds in the house were children's beds lent to us by the maid our boss hired. The place was completely run down. I was furious, my programmer was ready to jump on a plane back to the states. As for Joe, well he just went with the flow. There were spaces in the walls where you could see outside. Mold on the walls in the corners around the windows, one broken window with about a 2 foot opening. It was a deal and a half. and we dealt.

The Night.
We tossed back a brew or two played a game of Rummy 500 and shot the shit discussing how disappointed we all were. Joe took one of the kiddy beds and went to sleep. My programmer refused to sleep in the kiddy beds. She was a little grossed out. I grabbed a bed and a towel for a blanket and crashed.

This place was just not ready for us.

Met up with the boss the next day checked out our office. All was top notch. then I gave him the deal. and he got to deal. he apologized profusely and moved the four of us into a sweet hotel for the duration of our trip. We were very happy.

Side notes.
The people here are very nice, very helpful and everything is really cheap. The views are absolutely beautiful. And the food so far here has been very good.

Stay tuned for more updates. :D

Ciao.

my rant
Current mood: tired

Well it won't be long now until I say goodbye to the neighborhood I call home, I have chosen to give up this concrete world for something different, and from what I hear lately someplace that shakes. But all in all I feel good about this. A new leaf if you would. Ha! If you know me that is funny.

I've been spending a lot of time up late in the recent past. Its not because of work... With the exception of this past week, I actually think I work the late nights because I can't sleep. It occupies my mind and keeps me from staring at the walls. Before I go off on a tangent I will return to my thought. I was out for a walk the other night around 4:15 or so, I would say 4:20 but its so cliché, ha!, You know the sun starts to rise around 5 or so, so it was right at the point where the horizon starts to glow and the streets are empty, kind of purple out, a calm soothing mist in the air you can feel the dew settling. Its been a long time since I felt like that. I don't know if that exists any place but here. I will miss you Brooklyn.

Last week James and I took a 16 hour road trip to Tennessee to the Bonnaroo Music Festival. The trip seemed to start off like a National Lampoons Movie. Started with my work schedule being busy as hell up until we left. We were supposed to take my car which conveniently broke down 2 hours before we supposed to leave. Then we finally leave an hour later than expected in James' van... this I thought was pretty good. Next stop... Virginia. "The Deal" We arrive in VA in the morning and decide to get some chow. Here is where the deal starts to reveal its ugly head. James in "rare" form forgot his ticket on his bed. D'OH! Hence causing a road trip to find a Kinkos buy another ticket and print it out. Lets just say the Maria is a wonderful person... Now the drive though Tennessee was a trek beautiful country side and mountains, and wide spread hillbilly redneck trailers that seamed out of the Dukes of Hazard, we finally arrive... Bonnaroo "The Seizure" - Well upon entering the event we were patted down and searched by the local police. The van was also searched... this we believe was not legal but... we didn't get arrested, we did however loose our stash. And the officers took 3 of Next Tribes CDs... Go figure. Now we get in the event... and You name it, it was for sale.. Why we brought anything with us was completely "ridiculous". We met up with Ellen (Group Friend) very quickly which was nice because she didn't deal with "The Seizure" It was 4:20 again.... We partied for a bit then I went to see Dave. one word WOW. The man is incredible Live. I will never buy an album but most definitely go see him play again. Warren Haynes was incredible and Robert Randolph was mind blowing. At this point I need sleep. I head back to camp. The next morn the shit starts early. RAIN RAIN RAIN RAIN... MUD MUD MUD... We hook up with some sweet Cali Kind Budz. We toke a little... then the effects start and yes it was my fault but I lost the bag. dropped it in the rush to see Kings of Leon. Damn. We hook up again and that was the worst of the trip. Oh yeah forgot about that There was the raspberry chocolate shrooms. They were responsible for the remainder of the experience. We brave the down pour to see the Black Crows. Now I have to discredit James' Blog here, I Came mainly to see The Crows, Jack Johnson, The Allmans, Mars Volta and Kings of Leon. So I was just as caught in the middle of the horrible scheduling of Jack Johnson and the crows at the same time. LOL If you ever get a chance to see the Crows. Go you will not be disappointed.

The rain stopped on Sunday and we drove home.

peace
