Again I Think Of Brittany
Little Brittany
on my kitchen wall
with Little Carcinoid Tumors in 98'
Little Brittany when I was 18.
Little days
I check off one by one
Something about her face,
Something about her face.
I see it in her eyes
to be young and preparing to die
to have Carcinoid Tumors in 98'
when I was only 18.
I try to imagine her thoughts
knowing there is no hope
I see the casket and hear the crying
I try to imagine Brittany, died age 16.
Every now and then,
I'll sit in silence for you
and I'll keep you in my thoughts
though you never knew me,
I'd visit you with flowers
if I only knew where you rest....
I'll never forget you,
I'll never forget you.

(Brittany was a girl in a calendar, my mother had up on our fridge many years ago. It was a calendar of kids with cancer with a picture and little story about them. It was given to families that donated to finding a cure for cancer. All the children survived their cancer, thanks to donations. Brittany was the only one who died)

High Society
how do people
spend money
they don't have.
I work at most fifteen hours a week
and I have plenty
of money.... I could
pay a few rents
and still get a cigar from J. Whites
then I'd go on as usual
nothing would be different
except I'd have a fancy cigar
to show off to my friends.
I'd carry it around
for days as it
dangled
from the ends of my lips.
people would say,
'are you ever going to lite that thing?'
'of course I'm gonna lite it,
what kind of a moron doesn't lite a fine cigar like this'
I'd say,
as I held it out
into the air
and the only thing surrounding it
was a perfectly clear blue sky
