Bonnaroo adventures
Current mood: rockin

Bonnaroo; life changing? Probably not, even though the smells will forever be burned into my nose. It did change some ways of thinking for me. Number one, just being in such a large group of people is emoitionaly intense. Seas of people would be an accurate description. As uncomfortable as being completly surrounded by other people is, it was a little cool to know that NO ONE was paying attention to you. We layed in the sun listening to awesome live music, grilled yummy foods and hung out under the stars with friends. It was a fun time. I would suggest it to anyone who can stand hot sun, stinky hippies and lots of walking.

Here's a quick summary of my weekend. This is also a way for me to remember who/what we saw. If that sounds silly then you have obviously never expirenced anything like Bonnaroo, because it's a total blur!

Thursday we get to the campground and set up our tent. We scored ab awesome spot and had tons of room.  We went into Centeroo and saw Janeane Garofalo & Mike Birbiglia featuring Leo Allen we were actually the first crowd at that tent for the night. While we were standing outside the comedy tent, a bearded lad walked quickly by looking super familiar. It was Zak Galifankis! Becky yelled 'Hey Zak' and he turned around and waved! Very cool. We looked at some vendors and walked around but didn't see any other shows that night, even though now I wished we had at least stopped by Lez Zepplin...

Friday was a more eventful day. We saw Les Claypool, Willie Nelson, Chris Rock and Metallica. We didn't stay for all the Metallica but I thought they put on a good show. They had a lot of negative feedback, that I thought was unfair. If they're not your thing fine, but they did a good job. Anyway, it started raining so we went back to camp, gathered up some warmer clothes and went back for My Morning Jacket. This would have been a great show, unfortunatly it rained too hard and we had to leave after the 3rd or 4th song.

If ever was a perfect Bonnaroo day, Saturday was that day. It rained in the morning (no shows anyway) and we hung out at camp. When the rain cleared up it left a perfectly cloudy, breezy tolerable day. The air wasn't too hot and the sun wasn't too bright (Sat is the day I took my default pic). We saw Gogol Bordello,

Ben Folds, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam, and went back to camp with the intentions of coming back out for Phil Lesh, but fell asleep. No matter how late you think you can stay up, it's so hard after spending all day in the sun!

Sunday was unfreakingbelivably hot. We packed up camp beforewe left for concerts so we could make a quick getaway. We watched The Lee Boys, and Yonder Mountain String Band but couldn't make it to Robert Plant and Alison Krause because it was just too dern hot.

I have some pictures I took with my digital already on here. I took my disposable into Centeroo so I hope I took some good ones. I was in culture shock for the first day or so. There are some freaky people out there!

The Cat Whisperer
Current mood: artistic

Kyle woke me up this moring, definatly the most excited I’ve ever seen him. Somewhere in his high pitch of a squeal, I made out that the cat had had kittens under his bed. While lots of people would be put off by a cat in labor (and the sounds and fluids that come with it). My little animal lover, took it as a grand gesture of love. He informed me that he was ’Cat Man’ and that she had her kittens near him because she knew he would take care of her. Which he did! He brought her food and water to his room, and contatined himself enough to just peek, when I know he’s dying to manhandle the kittens. I, on the other hand, grabbed them up as soon as they were clean and momma cat was relaxed. (Do as I say, not as I do...lol) I just wanted to see what she had. A black and white female (Kyle has laid claim to her already, she’s his fave) and 2 white (soon to be siamese) a male and a female. I’ll take pictures as soon as their eyes open and they don’t look so much like rats..

Oh and not to ’one up’ my own child. But my childhood cat had kittens in my drawer. Who’s Cat Man now?

My skin is crawling.
Current mood: determined

Living in a place that had previously been uninhibited, sometimes puts me a little too close to nature. Like the time, a giant black snake was hanging out by the backdoor. Or the occasional field mouse that has yet to meet my cat. My current gripe (be prepared it’s a BIG one), is the yellow jackets that have made my yard their breeding grounds. Last week, I noticed what I thought to be ant hills all over our side yard. Then I heard buzzing, and after further inspection confirmed YELLOW JACKETS. But I had always assumed that yellow jackets made hives or nests like a wasp. A few unnerving days later and the yellow jackets were worse, so I googled it and sure enough they will nest in the ground, and in people’s lawns! My problem now is, no one will listen to me. Josh has seen the hills and the bees (the google images too for that matter) but by the time he gets home from work the bees are back in their nests. Today I realized they have gotten aggresive. I first, noticed them swarming around our garbage. Now if summer camp has taught me anything, it’s not to mess with bee’s near a garbage can. Kyle hasn’t been able to play outside in days and I haven’t been able to do my daily jogging (oh darn!). I thought that was safe enough, right? Avoid outdoors through the day, hound Josh to do something about it at night. No, the dern things took it up a notch. While I was strapping Ri in his carseat, Kyle said ’Look at all the bees!’ Un freaking belivable, their little dirt nests were EVERYWHERE, I’m talking like 5 or 6 inches apart. I cussed around for a while, closed the door, got into the drivers seat only to find a yellow jacket on my window. In the time it took me to put the baby in his seat, a bee had flown in! If something is not done tonight, I’m dousing the yard with gas and lighting it. I’m not even kidding, it was Josh’s idea and if he won’t do it, I will!
