Rock City Review 'Sheffield's Actionier were first up and put together a great performance, made evern more impressive when it was announced that bass player Tom had been in hospital at 1 o'clock that afternoon having pins removed from a broken hand. In the words of Gav from Kill Chaos "He really is a soldier of Rock!"
With staccato machine gun rhythms and fantastic drumming shooting out from the stage, Actionier were a wonderful combination of classic riffs and modern sounds without ever appearing to be dated or dull'
"...Moving swiftly on we have a split single from Field Records. Actionier play "big, singalonga math rock" whatever that means but the track 'Freeview' is strong stuff. Pleasantly misleading the listener with its initial gentility, it arrives good and proper with the ferocity of approach that being dropped in freezing cold water will lend you, from that point onwards its breakneck all the way. It's earnest though and compelling enough to draw me away from my traditional listening habits for a while. Flipside duties are handled by Nottingham's Kill Chaos, they tread a more immediately familiar path. Its rock in one of its most familiar forms eschewing 'fake girls and ID's' with a thunderous backdrop of drums and dense meshes of guitar. Not bad though and as a single this really is worthy of your time."

We got this review a while ago, but here it is:
"Yet Another in a long line of soon-to-be-classic split 7″ singles from the unsparingly dedicated Field Records sees Kill Chaos and Actionier go head-to-head in one of the collections more visceral moments.
Kill Chaos's turf on the A-Side is defended by the nonsensically monickered 'OK On The O.K.'. A mighty slab of Helmet/Reuben/Verbena esque riffery which ascends to a brief moment of near orgasmic melodicism before falling in on itself. Its fair to say i was more than a little suprised by quite how good this side of the split is, having never lent more than a cursory ear to the various musicians involved's previous efforts. An absolutely cracking first offering.
On the rear of the slice of the black stuff is Actionier's 'Freeview'. It's a little gentler on the senses from the off, and is certainly a little more thoughtful, but explosions of Vitriolic rage like the shelling of some defenseless city mean it's by no means a lazy Susan.
There have been few more perfect bedfellows on the other field splits, and though there are a couple of rough edges, this really is some astonishing handywork. Bladdy marvelous. 4/5"
the february blog is rife with maybes, a few deffos, and the odd hope and dream, please bear with us while we assemble the list for your entertainment.
some (mostly) sheffield deffos:
we're supporting the amazing rolo tomassi at the glittering jewel of the north that is the fuzz club at sheffield union on the 13th march.
the sheffield single launch for our field records single split with kill chaos is at the shakespear (west bar, sheffield) on 12th april with both bands and a shit load more. a similar bill will be on the week before (3rd april) at nottingham rock city where, incidentally, i've never been before. so that'll be nice....
looking right far ahead to may, we'll be playing with the superb fightingwithwire (they're so hot right now) at the canteen of black magic that is sheffields corporation. if you've never heard them then you should click around for some of their songs. you'll be karate kicking and punching the air in no time. well if you're me you would.
we're featured in the april issue of sandman. god only knows how the couple of hours we spent in a room with a dictaphone will be distilled into 900 coherent words. on the funny side, it may just be one long dick joke. and there really are worst ways to be remembered.
some maybes:
we've been asked to provide some our songs for a smalltown america radio show and we were asked for our freeview video to be shown on ORGAN TV on a sky tv channel. both are great endorsements from good people and this kind of thing really does help keep the clock ticking along.
we've also been booked to play 10 gigs over 12 nights in china (late august to early september 2008). its pretty much a given that we're going but there is a few contract things to knock together. its a brown m'n'ms thing....
some hopes and dreams for ya:
keep listening to us, keep coming to our gigs, and tell your friends that there is this insanely uncool looking band alive and well and making a big old noise in big old south yorkshire. its been a couple of years for us and we still feel like we're a couple of months into the best band we'll ever be in with some of the best people we'll ever meet. come and join in the fun and kick out the jams motherfuckers!

This is the video we shot last May for our hit song 'Freeview'. We recorded the song as we shot the video, so 'mad props' (as they say) to Remedy Recording's Chris for his fine work, and of course to Steve Cape, the director. Full credits are at the end of the video...
ferris bueller once said "Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
well we stopped and looked around, and whilst we were ostensibly doing 'nothing' some good stuff came back to us.
a 65daysofstatic remix of our mathlete e.p. opener 'RACER' (its on the myspace page, checka checkit out).
some gigs in the south of france in november (punctuating long stretches of the open road with smoking in bars!).
being a featured unsigned band in the alternative press december issue (so remember to pop across the pond near christmas and get your copy, or ask your local newsagent to stock it for ya).
thanks for spending time reading our brag (or blog, whatever).... if you're not bored yet you can ponder about the split single coming out end of year with HINTERLAND on FIELD RECORDS, and our new video/experiment of our song FREEVIEW coming soon. the experiment being: put four band members in a giant room, face them away from each other and film them playing a song with no eye contact or sound monitoring, can they do it? the answer is..... depends who is mixing it afterwards seemingly. thank god for chris recs.
august and all that follows it.

yoza.
where do i start? well.....
we had loads of fun playing a gig booked for our favourite sheffield promotions collective TEAM TALL at the casbah the other week. they seemed to be stoked too and have crowbarred us into the bill for the TEAM TALL WEEKENDER, casbah, 8th and 9th SEPTEMBER. we`re on pretty late on the saturday night, but as with quality gigs, you should be sure to get there early to appreciate the whole bill. (you can link to TEAMTALL from our `bestest internet friends in the world` box).
we`re still stoked and raring to go at the gig at the grapes, sheffield on the 18thseptember with northern irelands brilliant FIGHTING WITH WIRE and LAFARO. it really is going to be our dream gig to watch, so we`ve probably spoilt it for ourselves by sneaking ourselves on the bill as the show-opener. ho hum, wadayagunnado?
what else? what else? let me think..... oh i know.....
we've been offered a split single release (roughly in novemberish) with HINTERLAND on the amazing FIELD RECORDS label. its a limited edition, collector friendly pressing. most essentially, its our first single, and it put some real wind in our sails when we were asked if we wanted to do it. it is, for us, a bit of a landmark moment, and we`re happy-as-larry that we`ve been given the opportunity.
i think we`re off to ireland in october for some gigs, but they are to confirm, and we`ll definately be off to france in november for some gigs. whatever happens, i can assure you that its been a pretty good year so far, and more exciting things are on the way. we hope your adventures are as exciting as ours. hell, lets intertwine them sometime, and make the most exciting knot this goddam worlds ever seen!
