My video for the CNN-YouTube Presidential Debates...
Category: News and Politics
In a pretty historic (in my opinion) event, YouTube has partnered with CNN to allow its users to submit questions for the 2008 Presidential Debates. Anyone with a video camera and a YouTube account can upload a video in which they ask their question. If your question/video is selected by YouTube and CNN, it will air live on national television on Monday, July 23rd during the debate and your question will be answered by the Presidential hopefuls.
I've submitted the following question/video, in which I talk a little about media consolidation and deregulations:
I'd love to hear your opinion, but please, leave it as a comment on YouTube, so others can join in the discussion as well.
Huge thank you to Aaron Cynic for helping me voice my frustration in the form of a question...
PS. As you can probably hear in my voice, I'm still trying to get over my cold from the 4th. Ugh.
This is the second filmstrip in a series I hope to complete on the various printing techniques in use today. Blending education with ideology, the filmstrip presents a run down of the different parts and processes of setting your type and printing via the letterpress.
This installment is hosted by Philip Cheaney at the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC) and features music by Fugazi (I actually got a chance to talk to Ian MacKaye to get permission!!), the ever-lovely imadethismistake and Geoff Shilling.
first attempt at making a music video!

I created a music video for the band imadethismistake. It's for the song "Gravediggers on Their Deathbeds, Part 2" which appears on their upcoming release "tomorrow, we start new".
YouTube.com started sharing its ad revenue with users of the site and announced so in their public blog last Thursday. Only a handful of the most popular users were given "Partner" accounts as a way to test the new features and business model.
This isn't the first time users of a website are being paid for creating original, independent content – but it's one of the first times it's happening on such a popular site. According to Alexa.com, YouTube is the 4th most visited site on the web currently.
YouTube has posted a form that other interested users of the site can fill out to stay in the loop for possible future upgrades to "Partner" accounts.
I'm hoping YouTube won't restrict participation to only cute, "lonely" girls rambling into their web cams, but will allow access for more niche accounts into the program. I have an account there and use it for the short films and documentaries I work on. Regardless of view counts, wouldn't the 6,000 people who've watched my videos be just as likely as the 6,000,000 who've watched Bree's to click on an ad? I mean, at least my viewers have both hands free to work the mouse and keyboard.
my short film will air on the Independent Film Channel in May!

I finally got the email from the Independent Film Channel (IFC) late yesterday confirming the short film I made, "Five Stories," will air in May! They're going to air it four times actually, and I really couldn't be more excited about it. I received the email right before leaving the house for my evening shift yesterday. So I danced around for three minutes and then drove to work. =)
Show times: Mon 05/07/07 12:40AM Sat 05/12/07 07:45AM Tue 05/22/07 06:55PM Wed 05/30/07 12:50AM (all times are eastern)
(YouTube's compression really doesn't do it justice.)
"Five Stories" follows a dream in which two brothers collect artifacts representing their memories as they traverse the labyrinthine floors of a surreal five-story house. Fire rips through the house, incinerating the memories the boys were unable to save as they attempt to escape through the attic window, five stories above the ground.
