A FAR CRY FROM HOME

Alan Rowe Kelly's (ILL BURY YOU TOMORROW, THE BLOOD SHED) controversial horror tale, A FAR CRY FROM HOME, is about a young urban gay couple (Kelly & Don Money) traveling through the NJ/Pennsylvania wilderness and stop at a rural antique hex store. What they don't realize, is that the backwoods storeowners (Katherine O'Sullivan, Jerry Murdock & Benzy) are a religious sect of homophobic, crazed killers who - under the local rule of the Preacher Man (Terry West) - have 'extended' plans for our vacationing couple by doing the 'Lord's Work'.

A horror film in every sense by using HATE as the ultimate killer.

The rest of the cast includes Robb Leigh Davis and Susan Adriensen in a cameo appearance. Once again, Tom Burns scores the film and Special Make Up FX Features were created by Michael Todd Schneider, Benzy and Brian Spears !

When it comes to "remake news" horror fans should have their gag reflexes pretty well trained by now, but when I heard they were remaking one of my favorite cult classics, Don't Look in the Basement, I had to fight down a little vomit myself. That is until I heard director, Alan Rowe Kelly talking about his version of the film with film partner Anthony Sumner on HMF Radio the other night.

Hearing directors, actors and producers talking about any new film normally puts me to sleep. I have been caught napping at many convention panels and dinner meetings, and I also need a jug of whiskey just to make it through any Podcast interview — Kelly is one of the few to get my attention and hold it.

If his version of Don't Look will be any good is left to be seen, but he definitely has some fire and personality in him, something drastically lacking in the horror industry and in a lot of horror fans.

Don't Look in the Basement (2009) begins filming early 2009 in Southern Indiana, and stars; Jeff Dylan Graham, Debbie Rochon, Raine Brown, Marv Blauvelt, Zoe Daelman Chlanda, Andrew Roth and Alan Rowe Kelly, himself as Lola Mason.

Alan Rowe Kelly's DOWN THE DRAIN is officially wrapped with principal photography and off to post production. DOWN THE DRAIN stars Jerry Murdock, Raine Brown, Mike Lane, Miguel Lopez, Tom Lanier, Jessie May Laumann, Henry Borriello, Keith Fraser, Robert Norman and Shane Kuhlman.

DOWN THE DRAIN will join Kelly's A FAR CRY FROM HOME and Anthony G. Sumner's BY HER HAND, SHE DRAWS YOU DOWN on the GALLERY OF FEAR DVD to be released in 2009.

GALLERY OF FEAR includes dramatic cinematography by Bart Mastronardi, Anthony Sumner and Dominick Sivilli, editing by Stolis Hadjicharalambous, Special FX by Benzy, Michael Todd Schneider and Henry Boriello, and exciting music by Tom Burns.
