Video Treatment Sneak Peak for Teenage Love Affair. As she sings to Dap we cut to the first they met. A title card comes up on the screen - "two weeks ago" ... It's a bright day on campus. Students criss-cross the quad as we catch a real slice of college life. Dap passionately shouts into a megaphone, preaching his latest political cause. We see Alicia and her girls moving through the crowd, and she stops to listen. As Dap talks, she is immediately smitten. He looks back at her from the on-stage, and there is instant chemistry. He actually stops talking into the megaphone and smiles at her. The whole crowd turns to get a look at what has distracted their campus leader. Alicia beams. Dap quickly regains his composure, and Alicia and crew turn and walk back through the crowd... As she walks across campus, we witness a performance with elements of choreography that give us our musical feeling. Alicia is walking on air... She's filled with excitement, and this new feeling is illustrated through the dance steps. The images crescendo with the song, and the we -- Cut To: "I love our secret meetins in the 5th floor staircase" A dimly lit dorm-room. We find Alicia and Dap lost in each other. It's just the two of them. Her back is to the wall as he leans in whispering sweet nothings in her ear. They tug at each other, laugh, kiss. As he runs his hands through her hair she sings. Suddenly the door flies open, and light floods in. It's his roommates coming back from a pick-up basketball game, a bunch of messy dudes, who react with surpriese -- "whoa!" Dap has respect for this newfound love, and kisses her on the forehead, promising to see her later. As she walks out, she pulls a letter of her back pocket and hands it to him. We see the note, which sas "come to the show at the Student Union tonight -- I have something special for you... XOXO, Alicia" Cut to: A dark stage. it's the campus talent show later that night. This is a reminiscent of the scene in School Daze with Tisha Campbell and her group. The lights go up and reveal four slim silhouettes. The spotlight hits the girl in the center as she comes forward. It's Alicia, clad in a stunnin silver and black dress, it fits her body flawlessly, catching the light as she moves. This scene is pure glamour. The dress, the hair, the makeup and the choreography... we soak in the moment. As she performs on stage with her backup dancers behind her, we capture Alicia in a very over-the-top performance moment. Graudually, she starts to search the audience for Dap, but she only see the empty seat where he is supposed to be. We register the disappointment on her face. The camera whip=pans, and we find Dap at a "different" campus function - it's a co-ed pajama party. We cut to the stage and see the band -- it would be great to get a cameo from the band EU, from the original film, or even the Roots to update it a bit. Everyone int he crowd is "Doin Da Buttt". The old-school dance takes us right back in time. The camera makes its way through the mass of students to find Laurence. He dances, surround by his crew and different girls, in the center of the room. We cut to Alicia and her girls busting through the door on a mission to find him. They wear long trench coats that contrast to the skimpy attire of their peers. She looks dead serious as she cuts through the revelers, making her way straight towards her man. As soon as he spots her, he knows he's in trouble. She squares off with him, looking dead in his eye. We hold there as the tension builds. Then... She drops the trench coat to reveal pajamas and big furry slippers underneath. A smile creeps across her face and she starts to dance with her man. As she as she does, the whole party ignites into pure celebration. The teenagers dance, loving the music, and having fun. This is what it means to be young and carefree. The camera pulls back as Alicia and her crew dance the night away with Laurence and his boys.... We have witnessed a beautiful teenage love affair. Fade to: We end the video as we started it - Alicia in her room again, on the phone with her man. It's the kind of conversation that lasts for hours, even if you're not saying anything to each other. She sings the last line of the song into the receiver. "It's a matter of extreme importance - my first teenage love affair." She turns towards camera and gives us one last smile, as we cut to black... With this clip, we want to match the feeling of the song/ "Teenage Love Affair" gives you a lighthearted, fun vibe, and I want to match that feeling visually. Part drama, part music, school daze had emotion, playfulness, dancing and glamour. I think all of these are the perfect combonation for a teenage love affair Our look will have a sweeping cinematic quality similar to the the original film School Daze. I will shoot in 35mm for the best possible picture quality -- crisp clear images.
