New Album is fast approaching

It should be ready by the time we hit the road with Nachtmahr and SAM. We've set our sights pretty high with it and have been kicking our own asses writing music that will hopefully kick yours. So far we're very pleased with the direction and sounds generated. There will be some more info soon and an opportunity for fans to be a part of the album as well.

Tour Diary Part 14: Denver

Obviously the tour has ended but we’ve been getting requests for the rest of the blogs so they will be trickling in when I find the time to piece them together. It also doesn’t help that there are 12 hours of tour video to edit as well. That’s going to be an amazing video too, mostly because only about 5 minutes of it is live footage. ANYHOW, here’s the 14th entry limping in.

---

This update comes a bit late. We’ve been driving long distances and sleeping every hour we’re able to. The last few days have been pretty hectic and we’re all feeling the stress of the tour but we still remain primarily positive. This sounds like the last entry from a journal kept by a guy who eventually went nuts and started eating people or something. Unfortunately we’re not that interesting so you’ll be stuck with our less amusing adventures that veer nowhere near the territory of cannibalism.

Denver was a great time. We all slept a lot in the hotel and absorbed the much needed rest. Around 9 in the morning Tour Manager Jim called and because i was sleeping on the floor it was decided upon by the Gods of Denver that I was the one to pay the physical toll of sleeping in their city. Upon hearing the phone ring I shot upwards and smashed my head into the corner of the metal TV stand located on the table next to me. The sound from the impact was so loud it woke everyone up which was great because that’s a joy that shouldn’t be wasted on just one person. I had about a three and a half inch gash on my forehead and a bump that swelled underneath it. The pain made me want to vomit but that wouldn’t be cool for Jordan so i sucked it up and posted about our upcoming shows. I would have gone back to bed but feared a concussion so opted out of sleep.

Eventually we all got moving and went of to Vendetta Music and chatted with Dave and picked up some road music. We also got pizza and iced tea drinks and all that really lame stuff we like to do when not driving or playing. It’s become blatantly obvious that we don’t really have any fantastic adventures, just a lot of lists of food items we’ve introduced into our stomachs.

Around four we went to the venue which was a swanky little bar called Kazmo’s Lounge. We got there about 3 hours too early and to compensate for our over-abundance of free time and bar proximity we all started drinking. We chatted with the bartender who was really cool and DJed electro. They also had a fantastic juke-box that was put to use annoying the other patrons who clearly were not fans of the genre. Here’s what I remember us playing:

Numb
The Faint
Propeller Heads
Left Field
She Wants Revenge
Haujobb
Ladytron

and so on and so ..noon became night and drunk became sober and then we set up. Dillon our promoter arrived and was very cool. Actually everyone we met that night was very nice and treated us all exceptionally well. Jordan opened the night doing an Embodi set which went over very well. We are all positive he’ll be signed this year, we’ve become promo-whores for him, obviously. But we wouldn’t do so if we didn’t think it deserved it.

W.A.S.T.E. went on next then we hit the stage. Our equipment went a little nuts on us just to give us a break from the norm. Now, I’m not a very angry person, but this set pushed me in some very wrong directions and I played quite possibly the angriest show I’ve ever played. According to Jordan and Shane I looked like I was ready to kill someone. The crowd responded well and really liked the set so in the long run playing with some emotion goes a long way. I don’t mean to sound like we’re mannequins behind gear or anything, we just usually have a fun-frantic party vibe, not the presence of a 4 year old who had his bag of Skittles taken away. Anyhow...

Tour Diary part 13

3/20/08

Sorry for the delayed updates. We’ve been staying in some pretty snazzy places that have been to cool for internet connections. Regardless, we ate at Casa Bonita today. It was amazingly lame and awesome just as South Park depicted. Shane put it perfectly when the bill came back and he said "We basically just wiped our ass with $80.00".

BUT WE DID see many skits involving cowboys and pirates, damsels in distress and flame juggling cliff divers. We took a hike through Black Bart’s cave and I’m pretty sure Jordan actually got scared at one point. The food was pretty whatever and we’re sure there was half a brick of melted Velveeta cheese on each plate. Then Mike J. threw up twice afterwards because the food was too good to keep in his stomach.

Tour Diary part 12

3/19/08

We left Jacob’s grandparent’s house around 1:30 this afternoon. When we got up at 8:30 there was a big breakfast waiting for us and we gorged ourselves on breakfast foods our lazy bodies aren’t continentally inclined to dine upon at the hotels we stay at. We got up early to hit the laundromat because we were growing kind of ripe in our attire. We’ve come to know that when mold is afraid to grow on our clothes that it’s time to introduce them to soap and hot water.

We drove for about nine hours which put us into Nebraska. Our aim for tomorrow is to hit Denver the day before our show and eat at Casa Bonita to engage in all the glory South Park promised us.

Tour Diary part 11

3/18/08

There was a cat at Bahb’s named Six.The cat was enormous and reminded us a lot of Mike J.’s cat Mervyn, so much so that when Jordan saw it that’s what he started calling it even when he was corrected by Bahb. I also agreed that the cat, which was female, did remind me of Mervyn, but I chose to call it Peter instead. Jacob liked that as well and so it became known as Peter to us. Peter initially liked Jordan but shortly after their introduction it turned on him. This all happened right around the time Jordan quoted The Office and stated "Animals don’t feel pain". Peter disagreed and urinated on his jacket which left Jordan relatively unamused. That night Peter and another cat slept with Mike and Shane all night, on their heads, on their legs and in between them like breathing pillows.

We left Bahb’s around 1:30 today and hit the Mall of America on our way out of town. That mall is indeed huge, and had a Sbarro so I didn’t care. Shane and I ate pizza while the other’s indulged in the finer things, that being Long John Silver’s. Mike also picked up a pair of jeans that I think look fine, while the others think are pretty funny due to their constrictor like qualities. Come see us on tour and you can decide for yourself.

After the mall we went to Rochester to stay the night with Jacob’s grandparents. They were very kind and took us to dinner and housed us for the night which was very generous. We all slept pretty well that night in our own beds in a warm and friendly home. We also sorted out all our merch and consolidated our bags enough so that we aren’t driving around in what looks, feels and sometimes smells similar to a landfill.

Tour Diary part 10

3/17/08

The drive to Minneapolis went by very fast. Probably because I slept a lot. Jacob has been a driving machine the last few days leaving me ample time to run a snooze factory. We did stop off amidst the snowy drive at a truckstop frequented by some very polite truckers. We were in the bathroom engaging in bathrooming when one particular Charles Mansony looking trucker opened a stall door on an emptying Jordan. He promptly shut the door and apologized to Jordan right before two more tuckers entered the bathroom and greeted Shane and me as if we were old time friends. We were really in some pleasant company so decided to celebrate by filling our freshly empty insides with the gas stations worst food.

Shane grabbed a cherry pie and jalapeño kettle chips which seemed gross enough, but one upping him I settled on two taquitos and chocolate milk. Anyhow, soon we were back on the road and my snooze factory was operational once again. We rolled up to the venue called The Saloon around 4ish in the afternoon. The club was huge and catered to a primarily gay crowd but did have its own industrial night which we won the honor of playing on. We were the first bands to play there in a few years so that was pretty cool.

Shane’s old roommate Bahb brought us there and took care of us above and beyond anything we’d ever expected. From a great venue to sound and lighting everything was covered. A few hours before show time an angel named Regina flew in and brought us some of the finest food we’ve ever consumed. She made everything herself and it was so tasty that we’re sad we can eat her food anymore. She introduced us to Cuban sandwiches and we are all fans now. THANKS SO MUCH REGINA!

Also Mike J. decided to rock the venue before we even played. He tucked himself away in the bathroom and the only reason we knew he was in there was because of the gargantuan aroma cloud that permeated the area. It hung around for a while until it realized we didn’t want to be friends with it and then it left. An awkward half hour later.

Jordan opened the night as Embodi and got the crowd going pretty well. When Embodi’s album comes out it is going to be amazing, it’s such great music and needs to find a home soon!

We went on around 11:30 and got off to a good start. The crowd hung around for the first couple of song. Someone told Mike after our set that they thought we’d sound like the Shiny Toy Guns due to how we were dressed. That person was pleasantly surprised as our set unfolded and luckily so was the crowd. By the time we hit "Relax and Ride It" we had the crowd moving pretty well. People started calling out song titles and were dancing pretty hard and by the time we got off the stage we’d made a lot of people pretty happy. Regina danced a lot which according to her and multiple others, was something SHE DOES NOT DO. We’re happy her sandwiches moved us enough to move her.

W.A.S.T.E. jumped up next and put on another stellar set. It was cut short because it infringed on a DJs time but the crowd loved what they had heard and hit the merch table hard. We chatted with so many new and old fans! The response was amazing and has to have been one of the best if not thee best night we’ve played so far. Also Jordan got pretty drunk and was screaming quotes from NIN and Back to the Future. That was pretty sweet.

Afterwards we retreated back to Bahb’s house for extreme sleeping.

Tour Diary part 9

3/16/08

We got to Chicago right on schedule. The three of us were pretty tired but we managed to grab our bags and find the van in a timely manner then hustle off to pick up Shane and Jordan at the hotel. At this point Mike, Jacob and myself had slept about 2 hours in the last 36 so we were all pretty tired but the W.A.S.T.E. boys were ready and waiting right as we pulled up so it was only a brief stop-off.

Soon after we were back on the road and headed to meet Mr. Caustic in his hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. The drive went by fast and we eventually found ourselves in a new snowy town. Matt (Mr. Caustic) met us at the venue and directed us to a nice hotel and was kind enough to bring us by his house to show off his studio (VERY IMPRESSIVE) and his pooches. He has two of the cutest dogs we’ve seen, Morbo and Zilla. At one point we were hanging out on the deck watching the dogs be dogs and were lucky enough to witness Zilla spare the lawn some of Morbo’s urine by delicately catching it on her head. Despite this action being slightly unconventional and a mere bit nonsensical, the pups remained insanely adorable and in the end they could crap all over each other and we’d still find them precious. I also write this as if I were an old woman regarding a collection of hummels.

Later on Matt took us to Tex Tubbs so we could indulge in margaritas and Mexican food. We slurped down some salsa and chips and chased that with burritos and managed to have discussions far worse sounding than the descriptions I just provided. Shortly after we were back at the venue and swinging around on the stripper pole the bar had next to the stage. It was a pretty cool dive kind of place called The Klinik. Shortly into setup it was realized that in our smooth traveling earlier in the day that our 2 tier stand was left behind in the hotel room Shane and Jordan were in. Apparently there was some kind of Three Stooges routine that transpired that resulted in a broken toe and the stand being shoved underneath a mattress to avoid further accidents. Out of sight and out of mind it was forgotten until it was needed, unfortunately we didn’t have 4 hours to go down and retrieve it.

Matt lent us one of his stands and we were able to rock out pretty well anyhow. My glasses were off so I couldn’t tell how much the crowd liked us but we did move a lot of merch and talk to a lot of people afterwards so that was great. Then Caustic took the stage...

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. SEE CAUSTIC LIVE IF YOU EVER CAN. They put on such an awesome show. I had the songs "Hocus Pocus" and "Mutilate" in my head for so long after the show ended and I still laugh when thinking about it. AND THERE WAS A THEREMIN! They seriously bring the party when they play and it made the night a lot of fun.

W.A.S.T.E. closed out the show and people really seemed to wrap their heads around the noise. Shane was still recovering from whatever was ailing him and took to the stage with a migrane. It seemed pretty evident that he was in pain but aside from that their set was pretty swell.

Afterwards we gathered gear and posed for pictures with Matt to prove he does exist and that he in fact has an amazing beard. Then it was onto the hotel where we crammed ourselves into bed and snoozed until we had to leave the next day. We have a lot of thanks to Matt and Madison for such a fun time. We arrived burned out but thanks to them we kept going way past our breaking point and had a really great time and can’t wait to get back.
