Amerikaanse films en TV shows zijn de plekken waar je AM's muziek waarschijnlijk hebt gehoord. Elegant laat hij Americana, pop en folk-rock tezamen komen tot een eigen geluid, hand in hand met intelligente songteksten. Met niet minder dan 56 liedjes gebruikt voor film en televisie, komen AM's nummers voor bij de internationaal bekende hit shows, zoals: HBO's 'Big Love', MTV's ' The Real World', ABC's " Men in Trees' en MTV's 'The Hills'. AM zal optreden in Ottersum, Nederland op het Roepaen Festival * op 28 September 2008. AM heeft afgelopen lente door Duitsland getourd met Deense singer/songwriter Tina Dico (Universal records). AM's laatste EP 'Side by Side – Duets Vol.1', geheel geschreven en geproduceerd door hemzelf, gemixed door Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields), bevat duetten met andere muzikanten uit Los Angeles. Geboren in Tulsa, opgegroeid in New Orleans en momenteel woonachtig in Los Angeles, haalt AM inspiratie uit de nasleep van bijvoorbeeld de orkaan Katrina, verbroken (persoonlijke) relaties en het falen van de politiek. Benoemd tot 'beste Singer/songwriter van het jaar' op de LA Weekly Music Awards, heeft AM net een US-tour door 45 steden afgesloten als support act van Soul Variations. Tevens verzorgt hij zijn eerste score voor de film Man Maid, tezamen met composer Tom Hiel (Swimming with Sharks, The practice). For an artist whose career is just beginning its upward trajectory, singer-songwriter AM already has the whole myth-making thing down. He doesn't like revealing exact dates about certain events in his life, and don't even bother inquiring about his government name — he is not about to give it up. What we do know is that he was born in Tulsa, Okla., grew up a self-described "rock'n'roll kid," was working in a music store and playing bar gigs with cover bands by the time he was 15, was influenced to become a songwriter by the likes of Bob Dylan, Beck and Jeff Tweedy, left New Orleans for Los Angeles and fell in with the Hotel Café scene, released his first album, Troubled Times, in 2006, and with its spare, mostly acoustic arrangements and simple-but-cryptic lyrics, caught a buzz in the L.A. neo-folk community, which carried over to his second album, last year's Soul Variations. Oh, and one other thing: He is playing Zoey's on May 30.
