Silver Clef Awards

Hellooooo

I haven't written in a long time i know, sorry about that but so many wonderful and exciting things have been happening to me.

First of all i've been on holiday for the last couple of weeks and it was amazing. It was absolutely perfect. First of all we went to Grenada in the Caribbean. It was gorgeous. We had a little private suite with our own pool and we were right on the beach. The weather was lovely until the last day when it rained a bit, so we pulled out early and went to New York for a few days and saw all the sights and then finished off in Las Vegas. i really needed it. It was great being lazy. My boyfriend and i lazed around reading books all day. I'm still not used to being back yet, i think i'm still in holiday mode :-)

So i went back to work this week. I started off slowly but surely with some filming at the Barrowlands for a show on BBC3. It was tough, 2 weeks of lazing around in the sun makes the simplest things seem sooo hard.
On Tuesday the guys and i went off to Belgium where my single 'This is the life' is at number 1 with the album at 3. Its so strange because everything has went mad in sooo many countries. The album is doing so well in so many different places and this week we've had some great news about American radio. Mr rock and roll was the most added song on American 'AAA' radio, even more adds than Coldplay!! So fingers crossed.
It's funny to think that in a few weeks the album will have been out for a year and is still going from strength to strength! It's still in the UK top 40 after a year!!! Sarah was joking that i'll never have time to do anything else, in years my Best of album will be called 'The best of amy macdonald's first album' :-) Lesley who works with me on all international stuff was saying this is the longest she has ever worked on one album :-) We might not even be half way thru!

So moving on, not only is today independence day, it was also the day of the annual Silver Clef Awards. It was held in The Park Lane Hilton in London. Not only are the silver Clef's a great awards ceremony, they are also for a great cause which is very close to my heart. They support the Nordoff Robbins charity which is based around music therapy. I was lucky enough to visit Craigintinny Primary school last year and sit in on a session. It was wonderful and i have to say when i played some songs to the kids, they were by far the best audience i have ever had. They were singing, dancing, clapping even throwing some air guitar shapes :-)

Today was also very special because i was presented with the Best Newcomer Award. It's a huge honour for me to even be there supporting a wonderful cause, not to mention getting an award :-)

I felt priviledged that Russell Brand was presenting my award. He is absolutely hilarious. The run up to him giving me it went a bit like, 'It's great that i get to present my award to such a beautiful young lady. I've met her before but i haven't had the chance to impregnate her yet. She is very talented and has sold over a million records. It's Amy Macdonald' what an absolute charmer! hahahaha He had everyone in absolute stitches. I definitely had the best person presenting my award.

I understand i'm completely waffling and my spelling is absolutely terrible today but i dont care.
I can't be bothered to check it back so i apologise for all the mistakes.

As soon as i got back from awards i ditched my posh shoes and frock and got straight into my joggies, what a slob. Pete's currently starting up the BBQ and he's just informed me he bought 2 types of relish :-)

So i am off to have some hamburgers and BURNT sausages!! yum yum yum.

Lots of love.
(A very happy) Amy xxx

1 MILLION!!!

Good evening/ morning?
it's quarter past midnight.

I shouldn't be up but i'm fixing my ipod. decided i needed some new tunes to listen to, so i'm scouring itunes right now :-)

I am very happy indeed.
I was informed earlier on today that i have now sold 1 Million albums......and counting of course :-)
I can't quite believe it. It seems in the past month everywhere in europe has just kicked off and it's going sooo well. What's even more exciting is the album is out on the 19th of August in America and i'm going to give it my all :-)

I've had such a great few weeks, and tonight i've been doing all my washing in preparation for my Holiday!!yay! I haven't been on holiday in about 3 years and on Sunday we jet off to the Caribbean!
First of all i'll be playing my first UK festival this year at the Isle of Wight! I can't wait. I've watched it on TV before and it looks like a good laugh!

Well i better get to my bed but before i go thankyou so much to everyone who's supported me and my music. It is greatly appreciated and i am honoured to be in this position.

Thankyou

Number 1 singles and amazing homecomings.

Hello from a very wet, windy and pretty miserable Dublin.

It's been such lovely weather over the past few days, always makes me happy. However now it's a bit minging, i'm feeling that i'm ready to go on holiday!
The tour is nearing an end, and everyone is feeling pretty exhausted. My throat is just knackered and i'm finding some notes quite hard to reach. Everyone else just feels like they need to go home.

Anyway less of my moaning. Time for some more positive news.
So I have had my first massive hit single! This is the life has reached number 1 in the dutch single charts, and the label over there predict that this week the album will be number 1 too. It's such a strange feeling to know that in Holland my single must constantly be on the radio. I'm so excited to go over there now, luckily i'm playing at the Pinkpop Festival in Amsterdam on Saturday. It'll be mad! Playing a gig where you are the number 1 artist in the country at that time. Exciting!

So this weekend seen the tour roll into Glasgow and it was bloody brilliant!
Both gigs were completely sold out! 2500 people each night! It was such an amazing moment for me to play infront of an amazing home crowd! Everyone was dancing, singing and generally going nuts. The band and i decided pretty soon after that Friday and Saturday at the Academy were the best gigs we've ever had!Thankyou to everyone who came down!

On Sunday we had a small acoustic gig for the Burns Festival in Deans Castle, Kilmarnock.
It was pretty strange going from 2500 people all screaming and going nuts, to 300 in a old castle.
However we had such a fun day. The castle grounds were gorgeous and we had a game of football on the grass. After the initial debate of which of us would have Stevie on our team, we started playing(if you could call it that) We're all absolute crap but that makes it all the more fun.
I even scored a hat-trick! One of them did hit off my back, the other one was gifted to me by Stevie, and one of them was perfectly legit even if i was constantly offside!

I've had such a nice weekend but i'm bloody exhausted. I couldn't open my eyes today!
I'm so excited to go on holiday now!

New tour

Good afternoon,

I'm currently sitting doing nothing, well watching the Cup final with one eye, not really that interested tho :-)

I'm just back from filming a show called The Nokia Green room. It should be on T4 next sunday.
It was a very weird experience to say the least.
The show consisted of a performance side which was great. Me and the guys whizzed through Poison Prince and Lets start a band, however one element of the show features a fake green room, which was filled with cameras, and each act had to go in there for a period of time. It was like big brother.
Strange Strange Strange. Luckily enough i made Jamie come in with me, so it was a bit easier than being on my own, he proceeded to wreck the place by driving the remote controlled R8 into everything, including two full cups of coffee :-(

So on wednesday night we started the May tour. Edinburgh was the first night and so far we have reached Leicester and Leeds with Oxford coming 2moro.
It's been good fun already although our bus isn't as flash as it was last time, and there are so many of us, so it's a bit cramped. I have to share a bus with 13 other men! Not good!
But if i'm honest i'd always choose to be with all the guys, i'd hate to be on a bus on my own.

I'm desperately trying to think of what else to say, but i appear to be very boring so i will love you and leave you, but before you go make sure you download the track that i'm listening to.

Stuttering, by Bens Brother.
I heard it in topshop and thought, wow i like the sound of this, so i quickly wrote down some of the words i could hear and googled it when i got home!
The joys of the internet :-)

Have Fun!

The city that never sleeps

Good day :-)
How are we all?

I am over in the fabulous city of New York!
This is my 3rd time here and i love it more each time i come.
There is just something so exciting about this place. As soon as we arrived myself and the bands moods just lifted. We were all smiling ear to ear.

As soon as we got here i had a few hours to get out so i done the typical run to all the tourist tat shops, got the obligatory i heart NY t shirts :-)
I also took a wee trip to Abercrombie and Fitch...why don't we have this in the UK?

Anyway Last night we had our New York showcase in the Mercury Lounge and it was bloody brilliant! The place was packed, and there were even people who knew all the words?!?!? This is just mad!
Afterwards the label were all buzzing, saying they have never seen a new york crowd react like that. It is so exciting.
Checking over my myspace messages today, there is a girl saying she has never seen a crowd respond like that in the Mercury Lounge....Ever.
Incredible.

I am completely buzzing. I love it over here.

There is an amazing toy shop over here called FAO Schwartz, i go in it every time i come and i did again this morning.
You all know about my complete adoration for the Audi R8. Well my boyfriend has the same adoration, if not more so! And as i was browsing the aisles of FAO Schwartz i spotted a remote controlled one! It's amazing! I said to Stevie that i wasn't telling him what it was but after two texts saying tell me, i told him.

I can't wait to get home and get it out. I'm such a big kid!

Anyway i'm just about to do a soundcheck for my next gig.

See ya later.

2 Number 1’s!

Good evening.

What a gorgeous day it is :-)
I'm staying with my boyfriend up in Aberdeen and it has been glorious today. Clear blue skies, sun, 13 degrees! Roasting ;-)

It's amazing how the sun always lifts my mood :-)
I suppose it's not just the sun though. I'm happy as larry right now. Everything is great.
To make things better i just got a text from Sarah telling me, that my album is Number 1 in Denmark, Number 1 In switzerland and Number 6 in Holland! It's bloody amazing how well things are going. Next stop America...eh?

Well that's if i ever get a visa!
The whole process has been a bloody nightmare! The band and i have our interviews on Wednesday but this is only IF the paperwork arrives. We are cutting it fine! They say that once you have your interviews they will get the visa to you in 3-5 days but we are meant to leaving on Sunday, so we will need to move heaven and earth to make this happen!
I've been told to work on my tears ;-) Maybe if i cry they'll take pity on me and sort our visas out quickly :-) I'm not sure this approach will work.

Anyway I'm not sure i have much more to say might go play mario kart and get beat...AGAIN!

xxx

PS.
Check out the new Poison Prince Video! I know alot of people were upset we were making a new video, they wanted to keep the first one. I think everyone will feel differently after seeing this.
It's the best video i've ever done!

Birthdays!

well today i'm sat in Glasgow airport, waiting to fly to Heathrow.
I've got a couple of things to do in London today and Thursday and then the guys and i fly to Austria on Friday for the Austrian Music awards...how posh :-)

I was lucky enough to have the whole of last week off! It was amazing!
The first few days i didn't even change out of my jammies! I just lazed about at my boyfriends flat up in Aberdeen, watched crap on the Telly and occasionally let the dog out :-)

One of the rare occasions when i did venture out(still in jammies, might i add) i got asked for my autograph by a builder working outside! Hilarious. You should have seen the nick i was in aswell How he knew it was me, i dont know!

After my week of lazing, i came back to Glasgow, went to the Scottish cup semi final, Very exciting!
And then played Mario Kart for a few hours each day! Everyone needs to buy this game. It's sooo funny. I get very competitive, even though i'm absolutely rubbish! I always end up last, although there were a few times when i did actually win but not very often.

The reason for my weird title is that it's my bud Kelly's 21st Birthday today!
Out of all my friends she's the first to turn 21 so it's a big occasion. We're gonna have a wee night out on Saturday to celebrate! I predict carnage.

Anyway my flight has just been called.
Got to go

Right, decided to add a wee bit at the bottom cos i wasn't finished!

So today i was playing a little showcase for the people at Sky Tv, it was great. They seemed to really enjoy it, and hopefully they'll want to use some of my music on their shows :-)
Had a really cool day, some great news coming through.
The album has now went gold in Switzerland and in the Danish midweek charts the album is number 1, incredible!

So the next few weeks are gonna be pretty exciting!
Everyone asks about America so i'll fill you in.
I have done absolutely nothing in America yet, the album hasn't been released, i've had no interviews, nothing but hopefully that will change in the coming weeks.
We are heading to America and Canada at the end of next week to start things over there.
I'm doing 3 gigs, one in Boston and 2 in New York.
I really can't wait it'll be so exciting.

Hopefully the album will be released in the summer time and fingers crossed it goes well!

Anyway i'm gonna go watch the last 20 mins of the Old firm game :-)

DELAYED

Good evening.

what a lovely evening it is. The sun is shining outside, it’s friday night and lucky for me i am stuck in the BA lounge at Glasgow airport.
How i love to spend my evenings waiting on flights.

The delay is nothing to do with Glasgow airport but infact the lovely people down at the ’high-tec’ terminal 5 at Heathrow airport! The bad part is that we’re meant to be flying out from terminal 5 early 2moro morning. I’ll be quite happy if the flight gets cancelled as it’s my friends 21st birthday and they’re having a big party for it. I’m the only one who can’t go :-( I’m going to Zurich to sing on a TV show, i understand it’s important but sometimes you just want to be with your buddies.

So last night i was playing in Troon for the Rock Against Racism show. It was great fun. The crowd were absolutely amazing. We were also filming the gig for my next video ’Poison Prince’ It was so funny watching people go nuts whenever the camera was pointed on them.
I can’t wait to see it and i’m sure it’ll look amazing. I drove myself to Troon yesterday and left my car parked next to the bus, which probably wasn’t a good idea...yes i did notice you people who were attempting to follow me home.

Another reason i’m gutted about not being here 2moro is that i’ll miss the grand national!
I absolutely adore the national, it’s so exciting going down to the bookies with your friends and then going home to watch the race. I’ve never won. I’ve got my fingers crossed for 2moro tho, i’ve made a few online bets.

Hopefully my flight should be soon.
Although i wont cross my fingers :-)

The Birdie Song

Good morning.

I am a little bit worse for wear today.
I had two days off and as i hadn’t seen my friends properly for a while we went a bit overboard on the old champers :-)

We’d planned to go to the new casino in Glasgow but by the time it came to 9pm we were all a little bit merry that we ended up just staying in.

It was brilliant night and Leighann treated me to a mcdonalds breakfast. We then went to pick Kelly up. We were stopped at lights next to a car full of guys and we decided to put the birdie song on soo loud. It was absolutely hilarious. I was crying of laughter.

Kelly is doing the obligatory search through her phone to see who she texted last night the best part is that she mistakenly sent somebodys dad a text saying come up and give me a cuddle. I’m crying whilst writing this, she is such an idiot. She also texted numerous people telling them they were babes.
Funniest night ever.

For once i’m glad it isn’t me with the embarrasment.
I’m always sending cringe worthy texts :-)

Anyway I’ll need to get cleaning. This house is a dive.
We’re gonna watch the Old Firm game and then Kelly’s treating us to a TGI Fridays although we’re not allowed a starter or a dessert and only one drink ;-)

It feels nice to be back in my house, i feel like i’ve not been here for ages!
Although when i arrived home i was treated to this lovely picture hanging on my wall.

I’ll leave you with this.

xx

Back to normality

Good Evening,

I’m currently sat on a nice big king size bed in the cumerland hotel, London.
Makes a change from being on the tour bus :-)

Well the tour is officially over. We had some great laughs but i can say i’m glad to be back to normality. We’ve been living on the bus since the start of February after a while you really miss your own space.

Anyway i flew back to the UK yesterday. I flew from Stockholm then onto Copenhagen then onto Aberdeen. I had 40 minutes between the plane landing in Copenhagen and departing again. So i knew i was going to be very pushed for time however this was even worse when i was still sat on the runway in Stockholm 20 minutes after we should have left. When I arrived in Copenhagen, i literally had to run like the wind.
At the time i wanted to cry but when you look back at these things they’re hilarious.
It doesn’t help that i carry so much crap with me either, i must have looked like a bloody packhorse :-)

When i eventually arrived home it was still only 9am, so i went for a nice nap. It was amazing. I haven’t had a nap in soooo long. The simple things are the ones that make me happy :-) After that i went out for a little spin in my car, which was lovely. Then proceeded to watch the TV all day whilst eating my weight in Pizza :-)
My boyfriend finally arrived home later that night and we had a big hug :-)
The good thing about being away for ages is seeing everyone when you come back.
Unfortunately i was only back for one night as i’m down in London right now but it’s not so bad. I’ll be back home 2moro and then i have 5 days off for Easter. 5 days off for me is so strange. It’s a concept i’m definitely not used to! I’m really looking forward to it.

So the reason i’m in London is because i was doing a little thing for Jonathan Ross’ radio show.
It was great. He is such a funny guy and has went up even more in my estimations after he told me to ’sack my photographer’ because i was ’much prettier in real life’ :-) hahaha.

2moro i have an awards double whammy. First of all i’ll be dropping by the capital awards in London and then after that it’s right on a plane to the Young Scot Awards in Glasgow.
What a busy day for me.

I’m gonna go get some sleep now.
I’m absolutely knackered!

Goodnight
