SCORPIONS!!

Manaus, Brasil.

Hoje vou fazer o quarto show com o SCORPIONS, ja fizemos no Rio, Goiania e Belem. Os shows tem sido fantasticos, sempre fui um grande fa da banda e participar desta turne esta sendo uma honra. A banda ainda tem muita energia no palco e varios hits. Estou tocando guitarra em duas musicas, "Coast to Coast" e "Rock you like a Hurricane". E na parte acustica toco varios temas, entre eles: "Loving you sunday morning"; "Wind of change"; "Always somewhere". Esta sendo uma grande escola pra mim e com disse uma grande honra!! Danke fur alles, Scorpions!!!!

Today I..m going to play the fourth show with the Scorpions here in Brazil, we did Rio, Goiania and Belem. The gigs were fantastic, I..m a big fan of the band and to be a part of this tour it..s an honor. The band still have great energy on the stage and many many hits. I..m playing electric guitar on two songs: "Coast to coast" and "Rock you like a hurricane". And on the acoustic part I play many songs, including "Always somewhere", "Wind of change", "Loving you Sunday morning". An awesome tour with one of the greatest bands of the Rock History. Meninos do Morumbi/MANA/Pavarotti

Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Hoje tive o privilégio de assistir a um ensaio do grupo Meninos do Morumbi. Fui convidado pela minha amiga e cantora Marina de la Riva a ir ao ensaio junto com os músicos do MANA, grupo mexicano que se apresenta no Brasil nesta semana e não conhecia o trabalho social e musical dos Meninos. Foi emocionante ver quase 40 músicos, cantoras e dançarinos fazendo um apresentação especial para nós. Espetacular a energia e o som. No final de semana passado me apresentei com a orquestra Camerata Brasil, regida pelo maestro Silvio Barbato em Brasilia numa homenagem a Luciano Pavarotti em comemoração aos 200 anos do Correio Braziliense. Foi uma noite memorável aonde toquei temas de Villa Lobos, Gonoud e Jorge Benjor junto com Fernanda Abreu, Tiago Arancam e Luciana Tavares. Obrigado o SESC e ao maestro Silvio pelo convite. O Paulo esta gravando o baixo e esta na metade do caminho. Esta semana eu e o Derrick vamso terminar as letras e finalizar os arranjos de vocal.

Today I had the privilege to see the practice of the Meninos do Morumbi group. I was invited by my friend and singer Marina de la Riva to visit their facilities where they practice and have an extraordinary social work with many children who doesn..t have structure to study, eat, play, etc...
Also the musicians from the Mexican group MANA came with us to meet them and they were amazed by what they saw. We all were. It was great to see and hear this youngsters dancing and playing with an unique energy. To learn more about the project go to:

The last weekend I played with the Camerata Brasil Orchestra, conducted by Silvio Barbato in a Homage to Luciano Pavarotti commemorating 200 years of the Correio Braziliense newspaper. I perfomed themes from Villa Lobos, Gonoud and Jorge Benjor together with the Brazilian tenor Tiago Arancam and lyric singer Luciana Tavares. Week two - SepulOrange

Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Estamos na segunda semana de gravações do disco. Estou quase terminando as bases de guitarra. Tenho usado bastante a minha Fender Stratrocaster Nation e a Jackson RR. Os timbres estão mais sujos e pesados, tanto os da bateria quanto os da guitarra. Creio que será o nosso melhor trabalho, em muitos, muitos anos. O livro é muito inspirador e as músicas estão fluindo facilmente. Em breve vamos gravar a orquestra na versão que eu, o maestro Alexey Kurkdjian e o Jean fizemos para o Nona Sinfonia de Beethoven, um dos nossos maiores desafios.

We are working now for two weeks, recording our new album. I..m almost finished laying down the rhythm guitar tracks, using mostly my Fender Stratocaster Nation and my Jackson RR. The sounds are dirtier and heavier, both for the guitars and drums. I believe this will be our best work in many, many years. The book is very inspiring and the songs are flowing naturally. Soon we will record the orchestra on the version me, the director Alexey Kurkdjian and Jean did for the Nith Symphony from Beethoven, I think our greatest challenge so far.

Wander Taffo

Hoje o mundo da guitarra perdeu um de seus maiores mestres. O Taffo foi um amigo, um astro humilde e atencioso, um guitarrista espetacular. Conheci o Taffo em 1989 quando estávamos gravando o álbum "Beneath the Remains" no mesmo estúdio em que ele gravava o seu disco solo. Acompanhei o trabalho dele no estúdio, nos palcos e na sua carreira como educador.
Agora é fazer uma big jam com Jimi Hendrix. Enjoy!

Abril Sonoro / Musical April

Porto Alegre e Florianópolis, Brasil

Nos últimos dias 4 e 5 deste mês eu fiz mais uma participação no show dos Paralamas e Titãs no sul do Brasil. Foram shows bons pra c....., com presença exepcional do público. Fito Paez e Aranldo Antunes foram os outros músicos convidados. Toquei "Selvagem" e "Polícia" com as bandas juntas e "Lugar Nenhum" com Arnaldo nos vocais. As bandas estavam soando como uma só, com várias formações diferentes durante o show. Perfeito! O DVD que foi gravado no Rio deve sair em breve.

Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

No dia 11, fui convidado a tocar com a orquestra formada por jovens de até 24 anos, garimpados pelo maestro brasileiro Silvio Barbato nos projetos socioculturais do país. O evento aconteceu no Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, foi organizado pelo SESI e contou com a presença de outros músicos como Wagner Tiso, Francis Hime, Roberto Correa, Fernanda Abreu entre outros. Eu toquei uma versão de Guitarra com orquestra do "Trenzinho do Caipira" de Heitor Villa Lobos. Foi emocionante tocar no Teatro lotado, pela primeira vez com uma orquestra regida pelo Maestro Barbato. A versão ficou muito boa, apesar do pouco tempo de ensaio.
Este evento faz parte de uma campanha para que a música volte a fazer parte do currículo escolar, colocar a música mais próxima à educação das crianças e também foi o lançamento de um programa de televisão chamado "Valores da Música" que será veinculado no canal FUTURA.

E no Sabado, dia 12 eu tive o privilégio de tocar com Wayne Hussey, vocalista do THE MISSION. Ele esteve em São Paulo num formato acústico, ele e o violão, as vezes acompanhado por Victor, um celista. Ele tocou os grandes clássicos do THE MISSION e alguns covers de David Bowie e U2. Foi espetacular, ele canta muito! Eu toquei "Butterfly on a Wheel" e "Tower of Strength". Eu escutei muito THE MISSION, principalmente na época do "Arise" aonde influenciou bastante em alguns temas e na arte do disco. Valeu Wayne, you rule! Thanx!

Na madrugada do dia 27 de Abril, Domingo eu vou tocar na "Virada Cultural 2008" em São Paulo. Vai ser no palco da Barão de Itapetininga, no centro da cidade. Eu vou fazer o projeto A. K. BRASIL METAL STARS com o Hugo Mariutti na guitarra, Betão (Ex-Korzus) na bateria, Dick (Korzus) no baixo, Marcão (Claustrophobia) na voz, Bruno Leandro (Site A.K.) na voz e com a participação do Derrick Green nas vozes. Vamos tocar somente a raiz do thrash, Slayer, Metallica, Exodus e Antrhax! O show esta programado para as 2 da manhã, depois do Paul Dianno. METAL!!!

Brazil!

This past month I did many different gigs, playing with many different musicians in various situations, including a version of the "Trenzinho do Caipira", from the brazilian composer Heitor Villa Lobos, with guitar and orchestra. It was great to play at the Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro, totally packed! A very new experience to me and a unforgettable one! Thanks to the conductor Silvio Barbato, who called me and invited me to be a part of this project, which is a part of a major campaign to bring back the teaching of Music in normal schools.

Also I had the privilege to play with Wayne Hussey from THE MISSION who did a special gig in São Paulo. Acoustic, only him and the guitar, occasionally sided by Victor, a cellist. It was an amazing show, very intimate. He played the classic songs from THE MISSION and some cover tunes from David Bowie and U2. I did "Butterfly on a Wheel" and "Tower of Strength". I used to listen to the band a a lot, specially on the "Arise" days, which inspired some of the music we did and the art work from the album and tour. Valeu!! Thanx man, you rule!

IRON MAIDEN!!

Sao Paulo, Brasil

Neste último fim de semana o Iron Maiden tocou aqui em SP e no Sabado, um dia antes do show, eu joguei no time de brasileiros do My Space contra o time do Iron Maiden. Diferentimente do que foi divulgado nós não perdemos de 8 a 0 mas sim de 7 a 2. A goleada continua vergonhosa mas nós conseguimos marcar dois gols sim. O time de Steve Harris veio completo da Inglaterra, é um time que joga junto ha muito tempo e é bem entrosado e treinado, até linha de impedimento a defesa fazia, mas tirando o resultado, foi uma tarde inesquecível poder estar ali com o grande Harris jogando futebol e depois tomando uma cerveja e churrasco, foi muito bom. Obrigado ao Iron, ao Thiago do My Space Brasil e a EMI Brasil, espero que na próxima a gente consiga fazer um contra de verdade de Sepultura contra Iron Maiden, ai sim eu quero ver o placar!!!
O show foi maravilhoso, só clássicos num estádio (parque) lotado! Longa vida ao Iron!

Continuamos o trabalho nos nossos estúdios compndo o disco novo do Sepultura, estou muito confiante com as músicas novas. Nos próximos shows ja vamos tocar algo de novo, provalvelmente nos shows que vamso fazer em SP e Santo Andre.

This last weekend Iron Maiden came to Brazil once more to play an awesome convert and also to play a soccer game a day before the concert. I´ve played on the Brazilian side with the My Space team against the well trained Iron Maiden team. We lost the game but it was not an 8 x 0 game but a 7 x 2. Ok, still is a bad loss but we did score 2 goals. Steve Harris brought an English squad, very well trained, they play together for years, with an offside line made by their defense that was very pro. But it was an awesome afternoon, with a great game, beer and barbecue. Thanks to the great Steve Harris and crew for this great day, thanks to Thiago from My Space Brazil and EMI Brazil, I hope next time we could do a game with our team, Sepultura against the Iron team, and we will see the result.
The concert was amazing, full of classics in a Sold Out stadium!. Long Live Iron Maiden!!!

We are on our studios in SP developing the sounds and lyrics for our album. I´m very excited with the material so far and the nexts gigs we have here in Brazil we will be able to play a new song.

New Sepultura

Começamos a escrever o disco novo do SEPULTURA hoje aqui num estúdio de São Paulo. Montamos o equipamento ontem e hoje colocamos algumas idéias em pratica. Nós vamos seguir mais ou menos a mesma inspiração de quando escrevemos o DANTE XXI, só que desta vez vamos nos basear na LARANJA MECANICA de 1962 escrita por Anthony Burgess e que é um clássico do cinema na versão do diretor Stanley Kubrik. Faremos a nossa trilha para a história e vamos nos basear na bioagrafia do autor também para as letras, música e capa.
Hoje no ensaio, ja saíram coisas muito boas, o clima é muito bom e as idéias estão fluindo. Fiquem atentos a mais novidades em breve.

We started the writing process for the SEPULTURA new album today in our studio in Sao Paulo. All the equipament was prepared yesterday by our crew and today we tried some ideas for songs. We will follow kind of the same steps we did in our last album, DANTE XXI, but this time we will be inspired by the book A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, first released in 1962 written by Anthony Burgess and it´s a movie, a classic, made by Stanley Kubrik. We will write our soundtrack for this story and Burgess´ life will be an inspiration also to write the music, lyrics and for the artwork.
Today at the studio, really good ideas came up, the vibe is great and the songs are coming in a easy and brutal way. Keep checking the news for more info soon!

New Songs / A.K 2008

São Paulo, Brasil

O ano começou a todo vapor. Não parei nem fui viajar. Concentrei em terminar o meu disco e finalmente ele esta sendo mixado. Foi um trabalho longo e difícil mas eu estou muito satisfeito com o resultado. Ele é uma viagem musical com influências de tudo que eu vivi nestes últimos 15 anos e ao mesmo tempo totalmente diferente de tudo que eu ja fiz até hoje. A data de lançamento vai depender de quando a mixagem estiver terminada.

Domingo, dia 27, estarei lançando, junto com o meu fã clube, um site aonde serao veinculadas informações sobre a minha carreira e promoverão eventos, encontros e shows especiais. O primeiro sera este de Domingo e vou aproveitar pra tocar alguns temas do HUBRIS I & II em primeira mão, tocar as minhas influencias e principalmente falar dos meus projetos para 2008.

Didn´t stop at all these past holidays, working like crazy to finish my album and finally now is being mixed. I´m very pleased with the result so far and I´m excited to hear it all done. It was a long process, a learning process and a great experience. It´s a musical journey trough the influences I had for last 15 years of my life and at the same time it´s very different from everything I did so far. The release date will depend when the mixing will be done. Keep checking the site for more info.

Next Sunday, the 27th, I will be doing a presentation of my projects for 2008. On this show I will be playing some of the material from HUBRIS I & II and I will be filming the whole thing and I will be posting the stuff here at my page.

I also changed the songs on my player with participations and jams with Mike Patton, Igor Cavalera, Dino Cazares, Roy Mayorga, Vasco Fae, Ulisses Rocha, Andre Moraes, Mingau and Sayowa. The majority of them never been released before. Enjoy!
