Hello again.

So, September? Yeah. Where'd that come from?

Today I was busy - really busy, but found that I had a set of lyrics forming in my head at about 10:30am. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time or means to get to work on it... so this is how i wrote and recorded the new track "You'll Always Be Waiting".

At about 10:30 the first verse grew in my mind and before long I was humming it thinking "it's hours before i'm home and able to get this down... i am determined not to lose this one!".

So, i opened up Facebook and sent myself a message containing the lyrics.

Then, during a few moments when I had time to drive to the local (yeah right!) shop, i sat in the car and sang the first verse into my mobile's answerphone!

Then, after finally getting home at around 4:30pm, I got straight into it and recorded the music, then the vocals and backing vocals and so now I have another new track - the produce of just a few hours.

I rather like it - musically and lyrically but you'll have to wait a little while longer before I air this track :)

Single, Mosquitos and Remix Competition News

Hola!

So how is your summer then? It's been a bit pants hasn't it? I'd hoped to have done loads of beach trips, bbqs and swimming by now... but no. : /

Last weekend wasn't so bad but whilst locked in a fort in Essex, i was bitten by a bloody mosquito - not normally so bad but I seemed to really react to this bite and my arm began swelling up and aching. So, after a couple of days of it i went to the pharmacy and bought some tablets and they then knocked me out completely. You know, the pharmacist or the label says 'may make you drowsy' but then they never do.. but boy, these did! I was out for a day!!

I've also been writing more new material whilst continuing to finish off THE VORTICIST album (i haven't forgotten it!). New tracks so far are: "Come My Way", "On A Secret", "Love For Sale" and "In The City" (i've just noticed that they are all 3 words long). Still, they are all shaping up nicely and at different stages but most will probably be used as b-sides... still, it'll all depend on the finished track.. so who knows! I've also chosen the next single....


...it's 'Irresistible' and it follows 'A Moment With You' perfectly.

Matt (Youens) is back again as co-producer (as he is for most of the album) and he may also wave his remixing wand too. I'd also like to do a little remix competition where the best remix (or two or three.. who knows!), will make it onto the single and end up on iTunes, 7Digital, RawRip and the other dozen or so digital music stores that carry my material. If you think the remix idea is good .. drop me a message below!

Speaking of RAWRIP, you can now download a chunk of my solo back catalogue from their site but keep an eye on iTunes as more will be appearing there soon.






Right, time for a cuppa as i've gone on for ages now...

Single Update!

Hi there :)

Well, I'm quite sleepy right now but I thought that I'd give you an update before going to bed.

My brand-new single, "A MOMENT WITH YOU" is released on 11th February! You have no idea how pleased and relieved I am to tell you that. It's been a long journey but a lot of fun too. There's still plenty of work to do on the album but it feels good to have the single ready to go.

I wrote the track quite some time ago and kind of shelved it for a while, knowing that I wanted to do an electro kind of album. I intended to pick the track up afterwards and release it as a nice gentle percussion/acoustic track. Thankfully, I found the lyrics in my head whilst playing around with a synth and with a bit of producer's polish, courtesy of Matt, it's now my new single.

The track is available for pre-order in DL format at my store on 7digital.com. It will also soon be appearing on iTunes, MusicMatch, Napster etc and as a very ltd edition CD (even i don't have a copy of that yet!) - but I'll update you again nearer the time.

The tracklisting is:

2. Silent Screamer (Acoustic)
3. A Moment With You (MJY Club Mix)

Wherever you buy the track, it will be chart eligible in the UK. Should you purchase it from 7digital.com it will also be eligible to chart in more than 20 countries (i'm going to Germany next week...). Whilst I'm not expecting for it to set the charts alight, or even just be a tiny glowing ember.. i'll just be a) excited about releasing a new single and b) utterly grateful to anyone who buys it.

For now though, I need to sleep. I've got a heap load more recording to do and a suitcase to pack.

A Moment With You on MySpace

Well hello there ;)

I've just added the single version of A MOMENT WITH YOU to my music player - my new track available on both DL and CD (fingers crossed) in Jan 2008.

The track itself was written ages ago and it wasn't really ever going to be recorded for The Vorticist album.. but I sat down one afternoon and found myself playing that great 80's synth riff and thought... now, what can i sing along to this? Before long, I found myself singing the first verse of the track and so decided that I had to record it. Originally, the song was meant to be very light, acoustic and with lots of percussion - a nice mellow track... but it has really turned around and I'm dead chuffed to have worked again with Matthew Youens, who has done an excellent job with co-producing the track and providing remixes again.

The single will be released in January 2008 - so places like iTunes, Rhapsody, BuyMusic, Emusic, the new Napster, AOL's MusicNet, MusicMatch, 7Digital and a few others should be stocking it... and most of those will mean that it will be chart eligible too - how exciting.. although i'm more excited at just seeing my stuff listed on iTunes to be honest than having something that hits the top100!! Still, it would be great if it did. There may also be a few retail stores that might stock it.

The single comes with a fantastic MJY Club Mix and also a lovely acoustic version of SILENT SCREAMER - a cover of a track by my friend and trusty remixer, Matthew Youens.

Also available (for a little while) is an acoustic version of the single, here on MySpace.

thanks for your interest and support - it's really cathartic doing this and I love it. hopefully, i'll be able to find a group of musicians to put together a few small intimate gigs so that i can share my new tracks from the album and some of my old tracks too.
