DJ ANDY VANN

Andy Vann is one of New Zealands most experienced dancefloor DJ`s with over 20 years of dance floor mayhem to his name.Andy made his debut at legendary club Zanzibar in Auckland in 1983 and has since gone on to play at some of Aucklands most influencial clubs incl the Brat 1986,Berlin 1988,Siren 1989,Roma1991,Club Cleos,SoulTrain 1992-93,Hotel Debretts 1994, Calibre,Box,Centro,Fu Bar,Wyndham Bowling Club,Centro.In 1989 he formed the Voodoo Rhyme Syndicate which held some of Aucklands biggest danceparties at that time.Andy is one of NZ`s few DJ`s to have played house since it`s birth in the mid eighties as well as many other styles incl,Hip Hop,Disco,Soul,Trip Hop & Drum n Bass. Andy has also won several Turntable competions,  including the Rip it up hip-hop mix tape competion in 1995

Andy has earned great success in the studio with production and song writing credits on many tunes e.g Semi Mc`s and Sisters Underground (In the Neighborhood is the TV 2 theme) with much success in Asia and Australasia. Andy co-produced the now legendary Proud album in 1993, which featured an amalgamation of soul and hip hop artists. The Proud album reached no 1 on the NZ compilation album charts and was also released in the UK.Andy was also the co-founder of the Voodoo Rhyme Syndicate in 1989, which was responsible for many of Aucklands early Dance parties, Hip Hop festivals and the introduction of many talented artists.

Andy is a fan of many musical styles including Drum & Bass. In 1994 Andy and good friend D-Rave pioneered Aucklands early Drum & Bass parties such as Drum & Bass Wise and Jungle Soundclash

In 1995, Andy formed Redzone, a dance organisation consisting of 8 DJ`s. Redzone was responsible for introducing many Aucklanders to House music culture as well as many first time appearances of many international DJ`s. In 2000 Andy formed True Believers, one of Aucklands most successful underground parties,room 1 is house and room 2 is Hip Hop, Electro and Drum n Bass this event is still going strong. True Believers recently re-located to Calibre. Andy is also the Marketing/Entertainment manager for Centro in Aucklands CBD and is also the House Buyer for Needle on the record.
