Adam's Attic Releases Skylines and City Lights
Los Angeles, CA - Adam's Attic whole-heartedly lays down their armor to present their most vulnerable release, Skylines and City Lights.
With each song, Adam's Attic captures a snapshot in time, and this record is a time capsule of a personal journey through various "skylines and city lights". The power pop/rock band demonstrates musical maturity in songwriting and their strength in arrangement. While it is an arduous task to translate a band from live to record, Skylines and City Lights delivers the dynamic intensity and raw energy that keeps fans coming back for more.
The lead track "Waiting" is the power ballad with catchy guitar and vocal hooks that plugs into a fractured heart, who acquiesces and ultimately learns to let go while standing alone and strong. "There You Go" and "Bright Eyes" deploy hook after hook with explosive guitar riffs and Henry's vocal melody reeling in the listener. In "The Silence," stark contrasts between the verses and chorus dynamically create intensity in this upbeat rock song permeating with melancholy lyrics. Imploring a lover with earnest hypothetical pleas, "My Apology" is a heavy hitting serenade with a soaring chorus. The band throws a curve ball with arrangement in the grand finale. Exuding sensitivity and splendor, "A Night without Armor" is completely stripped down to vocals and piano then culminates into a full ensemble.
Since the twist of fate that led Adam's Attic to relocate to Los Angeles from New Orleans, the band has been on three tours across the globe. The album title, Skylines and City Lights, signifies their privilege of touring domestically and internationally. Adam's Attic front man, Joe Henry said, "Every band dreams of touring the world and sharing their music. For us, those dreams are materializing. Following the desire of our hearts has led us to perform domestically from Miami to Los Angeles and internationally in countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greenland, Singapore, and British Indian Ocean Territory. We have gone further than we ever thought, yet we know that are so many more 'skylines and city lights'."
When Adam's Attic hit the studio in the fall of 2007, they were ready. Three years had passed since the release of their last album, In the Blink of an Eye. The group had recorded other songs over the past few years, but nothing was right for release. This time, the five original band members (Joe Henry, Derek Henry, Scott Boaz, Joe Blanchard, and Frank DeSalvo) decided to self-produce their collection of songs under the supervision of Joe Henry. To capture his vision for this project, Henry was tasked with the duty of assembling the right team. After interviewing Mike Troolines, the owner of Sound Asylum Studio in Santa Ana, Henry knew he had found the right place to track. After the songs were recorded, Misha Kachkachishvili of Axistudio in New Orleans provided expertise mixing the project. With a strong recommendation from Kachkachishvili, Bruce Barielle was enlisted to master the tracks.
As the songs were being mixed and mastered, creative director, Holli Henry, cast a vision for the style, image, and presentation the album. With Miss Henry's countless ideas, web designer Drew Geraci translated the look and feel into web design. Photos taken by Christan Parreira caught the new look of Adam's Attic collectively and as individuals. Journalist Nate Bates drafted the group's biography. Finally, Roman Ruiz implemented the album's graphic design in part by utilizing the album cover designed by Geraci and a photo by Parreira for the back cover.
Adam's Attic will celebrate an all-ages CD Release party at the House of Blues Anaheim on January 4, 2008. To obtain tickets in advance, please contact Angelica Henry at 504-296-8084.

The Privilege of Having People to Love and Care for...
Category: Life
Being right and doing right...
Life is so very short.
Last year, my dad was diagnosed with cancer. When he called my brothers and sister, I felt like I couldn't stand or breathe. In October 2006, he had surgery and is completely healed of cancer.
In September, one of my closest friends was in a car accident on La Ciniega in Beverly Hills. As he was lying on the ground in pain, he told me that he had been hit by another car.
On December 8, a 22-year old girl, who befriended me on myspace, died of cancer. This young beautiful Christian girl was so full of life and encouragement for other people.
On December 10, a friend was in a car accident while driving in snow and ice on a bridge. He had just returned to his home state after serving a few years in the Navy. Thankfully, he walked away okay because this accident could have been so much worse.
Today, someone, whom I haven't seen in years, is fighting for her life against cancer. Not many know of this young woman's fight. She is carrying on bravely and encouraging other people. Earlier today, she just quoted the most uplifting scripture to me. She doesn't know that I know of her fight.
This lifetime is so very short. Sickness, disease, and life threatening incidents sometimes happen to people we love and for whom we care. With each day, we can pray for protection, health, and healing for our family, friends, and loved ones. If things are not right, we can make things right. If we haven't been the right kind of person, it's important to start. Since we are human, we can't help but make mistakes. When we make them, to rectify our situations, we can ask for forgiveness from whomever we have offended. When others make them, we can quickly forgive or not even take the offense in the first place. After all, this lifetime is too short. Tell people how much they mean. Tell them what a gift and privilege it is to have them in your life.

Our Family this Holiday Season
Category: Life
Thanksgiving… Earlier this week, my sister reminded our family that we are in a new place with new circumstances. She wanted to capture something so easily lost in everyday life by recreating the anticipation, the tradition, the memories she loved as a child growing up in our family. She rallied us to catch the emotion, the warmth, the cheer, so we could bottle it up into a memory as "Our Family this Holiday Season".
Well, let me tell you about it so far… Have you seen the show "Brothers and Sisters"? That show captures the essence and escapades of my immediate family. It makes me laugh. I have two brothers and a sister. None of us are married unlike most of our friends, so it is still just us. A common call to a sibling or parent is like, "Don't tell anyone, but…" or "Oh my gosh, did you know…".
It is really rather funny. There are no secrets even when you try to keep them from the family. Before you can even finish the conversation, a sibling is calling in on the other line. Because our friends know how close our family is, even if a secret flew below the radar of a Henry sibling, a family friend would call to let one of us know about our sibling. So, an incident brought about this rant, but I am not supposed to tell, especially in a blog.
Moving onto this morning at 6:30 am, I woke up to my mom scattering about saying the turkey burned. Thank goodness, I was not making the first turkey. If I burned the turkey, they would never let me live it down. (They expect perfection.) Fortunately, a family friend saved the day and rushed out at 6:30 am to buy a new, second turkey. (Yay!!!) It is still thawing. Guests should arrive around 1 or 2 pm.
Have you ever tried to bake a turkey? My sister and I did it once. We washed it and seasoned it then popped it into the oven. About thirty minutes after it was in the oven, we noticed that there was all this stuff was in the body cavity. So, we removed it from the oven and pulled out a plastic bag. We thought that was it. Then, we began pulling out this endless turkey neck. It was like 3 feet long. What a memory of "Our Family that Holiday Season"!

Courtesy is love’s symmetry, simplicity, and sensitivity...
Category: Life
While driving home from a road trip yesterday, I heard a message worthy of sharing for those that would appreciate it.
Courtesy is love's symmetry. Courtesy is love's simplicity. Courtesy is love's sensitivity. Courtesy is making the way easier for someone else.
It made me reflect on the courtesy extended toward siblings, parents, friends, loved ones, and even though those we don't know but meet throughout the day. Was I demonstrating courtesy and love for my brother when he misinterpreted me, for my mom who always does her best to help me, for one of my closest and dearest friends when she didn't give me the benefit of the doubt, or for a friend who tried to apologize? Well, maybe, I did not make the way easier for them, but I am learning to be better :)

Sharing the Most Beautiful Places
Current mood: high
Category: Travel and Places
As promised to some of you, I am a little behind posting blogs. Some have been written but not posted.
In this blog, friend participation is MANDATORY, especially if you have taken the time to read my blogs :o) (How do you like that?!?) Actually, it would just be nice if you shared.
I have been extremely fortunate to go to some wonderful and exotic places. I wish that I could share them with all my family and friends. Photos don't ever seem to recapture the experience of a place or a moment.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Descriptively share the most beautiful places you have seen. Beautiful places are better when shared. Posting a photo in your comment is very welcome since most of us are visual. (If you need the code to post your photo, email me, so I can give it to you.)
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ When I looked to the left, I saw a vast amount of steel blue. On the right, I saw a canvas of dark blue green. Straight-ahead, the most piercing blue made me look away. Of course, I had to look again ;o)

Renewal and Revelation: A Spirit of Power, Love, and a Sound Mind
Current mood: happy
Category: Life
You have been dedicated in your pursuit of goals and dreams. You have already achieved more than you ever thought possible in the start. For all your accomplishments, you have publicly acknowledged your Heavenly Father giving Him the honor, the glory, and the credit. You have been faithful with a little, so you have been entrusted with much. You have been a good and faithful servant.
You have fought a good fight, kept the faith, and ran the race. While it has been thrilling to feel the incredible highs that come from having chased desires and watched visions manifest, there is an arena that has an even greater reward. You have been so faithfully and single-mindedly focused. You understood that (she), who is double minded is unstable in all of (her) ways (James 1:8). You have not been given a spirit of fear and timidity but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You deserve every good thing that comes to you. Your Heavenly Father wants to give you the best of the best that life has to offer. He wants to grant the desires of your heart. Before now, you were not ready to receive all of them. You wouldn't even acknowledge any desires outside of professional ones. The Father has shown you that he is faithful and that He has good plans for you to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
One of your favorite verses is Hebrews 11:1. Now, Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. Have faith. Hope for things. See the evidence of things not yet seen.

Dreams do come true
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Life
Dreams do come true... I will make an announcement in the next few days. Dreams are important. They are worth the wait. Dreams materialize from words both written and verbal.
The "About Me" in my profile was last updated on July 30, 2006. For all the world, seven months ago, I wrote that I would like to take artists to the Pacific and Indian Oceans. On June 28, 2007, Adam's Attic will tour the Pacific and Indian Oceans. We just received confirmation.
I am a total believer in writing and speaking dreams and goals and helping others to achieve their dreams and goals.
So, my next desire is...

James Blunt @ Hollywood & Highland
Category: Music
I bet that I have two of the best brothers in the world
Some days, I really love them.
Today, one of them brought me to see James Blunt at the courtyard of Hollywood & Highland. It was very exciting to see him perform because each concert in L.A. this year sold out. (You may recall my James Blunt blog from earlier this year.)
Even though it was a free show, it wasn't too crowded, and we were only 35 feet away from him. "High," "You're Beautiful," "Wisemen," and "Goodbye My Lover" were on the set list. Then, he was off on a plane to his next show...

Some memories of Hurricane Katrina...
Category: Life
I can't believe that it has been a year since Hurricane Katrina arrived in New Orleans. I remember the complete chaos. I wish that I kept a journal of the events. Some of my memories include: evacuating, losing electricity for weeks, texting everyone because there was no other way to contact your loved ones, the huge cell phone bills, cleaning or removing refrigerators from homes, helping friends, trying to buy generators, researching products to kill mold, MREs, sleeping in 17 different beds in 8 weeks, being on the phone for hours with FEMA, standing in lines at Red Cross, driving alone and running out of gas at dusk somewhere between Texas and Lousiana, sitting in grid locks of traffic, moving 3-4 times, traveling across country, etc. It's not like it was all bad; so many people and organizations were kind and offered help. I learned to let go a lot more. It's good to have plans and goals, but life can change suddenly. So, you have to keep pressing forward to the mark.

The simplicity of "Chasing Cars"
Category: Life
It's rare to come across the simplicity - so few words, so pure, and so open... My favorite Lightbody lyrics are "I need your grace to remind me to find my own."
Artist: Snow Patrol Album: Eyes Open (2006) Title: Chasing Cars
We'll do it all Everything On our own
We don't need Anything Or anyone
If I lay here If I just lay here Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know How to say How I feel
Those three words Are said too much They're not enough
If I lay here If I just lie here Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told Before we get too old Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Let's waste time Chasing cars Around our heads
I need your grace To remind me To find my own
If I lay here If I just lay here Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
Forget what we're told Before we get too old Show me a garden that's bursting into life
All that I am All that I ever was Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where Confused about how as well Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here If I just lay here Would you lay with me and just forget the world?
