Do you care about Mother Nature? PLEASE READ

Last night I saw an alarming documentary called "Planet in Peril" on Animal Planet/CNN. It is a 2 part Special Report by Anderson Cooper, Jeff Corwin and Dr. Sanjay Gupta that investigates the worlds biggest threats. It is a very powerful report that could really make a difference if enough people watch it and learn from it. Did anyone watch this?

One report that really bothered me is about abuse of bears in China for their Bile to be used in their traditional medicine. Bears are being surgically mutilated and "milked" each day for their gall bile. Thousands of bears being caged and bile taken from their stomach, a constant stream of bile seeping from their insides, where an open wound allows workers to insert a tube or piece of metal to "tap" the bile.


Here is another little piece of information on this HORRIBLE practice...
BEARS FARM. Bear bile and bear gall bladders are being sold at traditional Chinese medicine shops throughout the world. Bile, used for medical purposes, can fetch up to 1,000 dollars a kilogram on traditional Chinese medicinal markets. The practice of mass production rapidly spread across large parts of Asia from the early 1980s, triggered by technical innovations, which allowed the regular, serial extraction of bile from live bears.

My God what is wrong with people to make them believe God would put these wonderful animals on earth for us to do such barbaric things to them. I cannot even describe how sad it was to watch this but it was extremely important for us to see and to know what is going on in OUR world. Maybe this will help us realize that we should not only be concerned with our lives and our loved ones. We have to get involved with our world and try to save what's left of it. If you have not seen the documentary, I strongly recommended that all of you watch it. It will only help us live longer and make this a better world.

Can cruelty to animals be a sport? ESPN2 & Quiznos seems to think so!

SAY NO to Quiznos Madfin Shark Series Champions airing on ESPN2!

The sport is, catch and release fishing. However, a large amount of other fish are caught while targeting the trophy fish and are being killed unintentionally. Among those, different types of sharks. As the photos below illustrate much too well, these tournaments can and do result in incredible waste. This is a big example of mad testosterone rush that destroys our planet by disturbing our sea animals and killing them for sport. Not to mention the dramatic worldwide decline in shark populations. This type of tournament should be a banned sport.

We can't stop this so-called sport airing on ESPN, but we can speak out and comment on ESPN's site or the Quiznos site who is hosting this series. Please go to their respective sites (www.espn.com and www.quiznos.com) and leave a comment telling them how wrong this sport is. It will only take a minute out of your life.

It is in its second year, and this year's coverage is even more incredible for all six episodes. Eight two-man teams battle 5-foot and bigger sharks, catching them, measuring them at the boat, removing the hook, and releasing them alive for points. Two teams are eliminated each day of the three-day event. Helicopter cameras, underwater cameras, and cameras on every boat, make for the most exciting fishing event ever documented on television."  -  July through September at 8:30 a.m. on ESPN2
