If The Stars Stick Why Can’t I
I have a new song all prepared, I'm even planning to play some electric guitar leads which I've not really done before. I haven't recorded it yet, but that usually happens all in one big burst with a few sessions of rearranging and adding a few days after. I'll be in Denton this week for more recording with John Grant and Midlake which is heaven and then I'll be home to record the new Lotte song, which is called Bright to be True.
I used the final line of Compasses as the title of this blog as it's been itching me that that line is my most mis-heard lyric ever. I certainly didn't enunciate as perfectly as I could've... and now I've even seen reviews complaining about the cutesy preciousness of my line "if the stars stay quiet..." So now it's official that that's not what I was saying. I was thinking of Dorothy and the rainbow...
I hope no one's having too much trouble with the new MySpace players. I guess it'll be great when everyone can have multiple profile songs, so I'm sure the update is a good thing. But for the time being it seems the song order is off, the play count is off, and even when I change my playlist it just stays the same. I'm sure that will all be sorted out soon.
It won't be long before the Trespassers William ep "The Natural Order of Things" (yes, we decided to only release the stronger half of the album) will be available digitally. If all goes well, it looks like it'll be released in the UK early next year as a physical cd for people who want to hold it in their hands, but we'll make it available to download before then.
Thanks so much for listening to the songs.

September updates
1) Compasses is back up on the player
2.) My cover of Bon Iver's Flume is now available to purchase in the Snocap store.
3.) The new Lotte Kestner facebook page is just getting going, please visit and join the group. Although I love MySpace and consider this page to be my primary website, I must say that the music player on Facebook sounds way better. And I have a slightly different collection of songs on there... if you want to listen to Flume or Temperature, all nice and clean sounding.
link to Facebook: http://www.new.facebook.com/home.php/pages/Lotte-Kestner/16044998742?ref=ts
4.) There are several Anomie Belle shows coming up as the album release is impending. The first show is in Tacoma in early October, and then Seattle and Portland album release shows the first week of November. (See the Anomie Belle MySpace page for details.)
thanks! anna-lynne

Sweetheart
A new song is up on the player. I just recorded it two nights ago when it was raining outside, and got to make use of the antique microphone i bought last month.
Trespassers William and Tunnel-Tunnel are both still at work, hoping to make something available soon. And the Anomie Belle album will be out in a month or two so we'll be playing shows around the release.
I recently watched "The Lives of Others" over the course of several days and feel compelled to recommend it. I was tearing up through half the movie, and not that it was dark or upsetting. It was just really moving.

This Plane Is Going to Fall
The new Minotaur Shock album, Amateur Dramatics, was released as a digital album today. Minotaur Shock is an electronic artist from Bristol, on 4AD Records (Red House Painters, Cocteau Twins). He remixed And We Lean In for the Trespassers William Noble House ep.
The song I appear on, on his new album, is called This Plane is Going to Fall.
you can download the album, or individual tracks, straight from 4AD here: www.minotaurshock.com Hopefully the fact that it's in British pounds won't be too confusing.
Also, I'll be playing at Nectar tomorrow night (the 12th), singing and playing keys with Anomie Belle. In Seattle. We'll probably go on around 10-15 or 10-30.

new song on the Tunnel-Tunnel page
I wrote an extensive blog on the Tunnel-Tunnel page, so I'll try not to repeat myself. Tunnel-Tunnel is a side project that Ross and I have been working on, on and off.
Just wanted to mention that we've added a new song to the player on the Tunnel-Tunnel page that hasn't been on MySpace before. It's the first song we were working on together (Surrounded), which started of as a Trespassers William song (the band still plays it live and may release a very different version of it) and then became something very different from anything we'd worked on...
The newer Tunnel-Tunnel songs (one of which is on the page as well, Elephant Made of Light), are more in line with dance pop music like OMD and Magnetic Fields and The Knife. But the era that Surrounded is from was less traditional. Ross' production sounds great.
if you haven't been to the Tunnel-Tunnel page yet, please do - I'm really proud of the songs we're working on, even though only 2 of them are up on the player at the moment. More to come soon.

Rusty Santos mix of Lula Boat
Before I worked with Matt in the Orbit Audio studio in Seattle to finalize China Mountain, Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Panda Bear) did a couple of mixes of my songs. I just revisited this mix of "Lula Boat" and was really liking it so I decided to put it on the player, and will probably add it to the Snocap store, along with the "Flume" cover. It sounds a lot like the original demo but with lots and lots of reverb, before the guitars and drums were added. You can hear all the little details on this version.
So most of the songs and versions on the player, at the moment, are non album tracks. The versions of "Leif Erikson" and "Lula Boat" are alternate mixes, "Flume" is just a home demo cover, and "Falling Out of Love" was another cover that Matt mixed at Orbit Audio, not for the album.
I'll be playing at the Showbox Sodo Lounge this Friday night in Seattle, singing with Anomie Belle. We'll be playing a couple of brand new songs.
