I can't even begin to tell you how much fun we had at Little Fest!!
The trip was one of the best; from the early rehearsal we had at 9am (before heading to the airport), till we got home tonight!! We got to see old friends, stayed at Josh and Shallyns farm, ate Steven's Panini sandwiches, had a fat bastard burger, a buffalo burger, Dennis opened a can of "whoop ass" energy drink (you had to be there). The band played three times and had some killer jams, laughed, cried and laughed till we cried some more. God is doing something beautiful in Kansas!!!
We'll end up doing three sets, our first was this morning and it was a blast!!! A total Jam fest---and we had so much fun!! Wish we had been in "the red"!!
Croatia was a huge success, with students coming together from all over former Yugoslavia. What wonderful souls they have!! We played in the Main Square of Zagreb to a crowd of 3000-4000. It was a historic moment and we got to be a part of it. God's doing something beautiful in Croatia—more on this later!!!!

I remember early on, before I was even involved in music, my friend Barry and I met Jackie. Consistent with his renown generosity, he invited us to come down to SIR (in Nashville) and hear a rehearsal. Now Jackie was (of course) an amazing player and was involved in a really progressive band. So to say the least, these guys definitely had our attention.
During the rehearsal, nothing much was really happening, because the band was focused on things like tightening up the arrangement -- and other really important things as it turns out. However, to us young guys who were just looking to get our rocks off, boredom was starting to settle in. As fate would have it, the band stopped to take a break, and Jackie started poppin', slappin' and thumpin' the heck out of the bass. We were laughing and lapping up the cheap thrill (and set up), that Jackie was serving up.
At the height of our excitement, Jackie stopped and said, "It don't mean a thing if it doesn't help the song."
As you go through life, there are things you have to work so hard for, things you have to search out, things you have to mine and unearth … and then there are the things that are just given to you.
Thanks for giving us that one Jackie … I've never forgotten it!
