Horrorfest 2008: Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Splatter Movie: The Director's Cut Year: 2008 Director: Amy Lynn Best Studio: Happy Cloud Pictures Stars: Amy Lynn Best, Debbie Rochon, Tom Sullivan MPAA Rating: Not Rated Running Time: 91 Mins Official Website: http://www.myspace.com/splattermovie
I was first interested in "Splatter Movie: The Director's Cut" , when I saw the film's trailer. This film looked very interesting and was thinking of buying the film until I went on Happy Cloud Pictures website and found out that they are selling the work in process cut of the film. That pretty much killed my interest for the film for that time, until I saw Amy Lynn Best's first feature film, Serve Injuries. I laughed my ass off on that slasher parody, as it was very funny, so my interest was renewed for this film. I figured since I had a fun time with that film, I figured I would give this film a shot in its current state. Thankfully, I did, as this was a very fun and gory film.
"Splatter Movie: The Director's Cut" is about, a film crew filming the movie "Tesseract". The crew arrives at a haunted house attraction to shoot this film. Unknown to the filmmakers, a mysterious killer stalks the film's set by being part of the film's crew. Soon the killer begins to strike, as the crew starts disappearing and being murdered. While filming continues, the lines between fiction and reality, begins to blur because someone is hell-bent on offing the entire crew and turning this film into the killer's own. Splatter Movie: The Director's Cut also stars Elske McCain (Gimme Skelter, Poultrygeist ) and Sofiya Mina Sminirnova (A Feast of Flesh).

Film Review: Freshman Orientation
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
Freshman Orientation A.k.a: House of Phobia Year: 2008 Director: Ryan Shiraki Studio: Screen Media Films Stars: Sam Hutchingson, Kaitlin Doubleday, Mike Erwin MPAA Rating: R Running Time: 91 Mins Official Website: http://www.freshmanorientation-themovie.com/
Going into this film, I thought that this would be one of those stupid comedies, as the film sounds like it, in the film's synopsis. I really wasn't interested, until I did a little research and found out that the film played at the 2004 Sundance Film festival" under a different title "House of Phobia". I pretty much decide then that this might be interesting; since you usually don't see these types of films play at Sundance.
Freshman Orientation is about a Midwestern freshman, who is entering college and wanting to engage in the party scene. During one of those parties, he comes a girl that he thinks is his dreamgirl. Determined to get her, he begins to establish a gay identity, to find a way into her life. This plan eventually backfires as he caught in, gender warfare, fraternity hazing and political martyrdom and cause the university to be a state of chaos. Can he find the woman of his dreams or will he just fall flat on his face. The film also co-stars John Goodman (Speed Racer, The Big Lebowski) Heather Maratazzo (Hostel Part 2, Welcome to the Dollhouse) and Rachel Dratch.

Film Review - 14 Women
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities
14 Women Year: 2008 Director: Mary Lambert Studio: Screen Media Films Stars: Annette Bening MPAA Rating: Not Rated Running Time: 70 Mins Official Website: http://www.14womenthemovie.com/
With the political season in full swing, it was appropriate for me to find a political documentary to talk about. I managed to have a title sitting at home that was recently released on DVD, a couple of weeks ago.
"14 Women" focuses on 14 female senators in the historic 109th congress, as the number of females' skyrocked from nine to fourteen in 2002. The film goes into their struggles with balancing their homelife with relationships and their political party views. The film is directed by Mary Lambert (Pet Cemetery 2, The In-Crowd) and is produced by Nicole Boxer, daughter of Barbara Boxer, one of the female senators, that's featured in this film.
