This electronic act ranges in style from traditional synthpop, to Information-Society-like freestyle, to techno. There's a little of everything running the electronic pop gamut on this album. One song will be poppy and catchy, then the next will be an old techno-style song built on samples and crunchy instrumental sounds. I'm reminded in some places of very early Front 242...back in the late 80's when industrial was just getting going, with that blend of classic EBM.

Tim’s Email about the Financial Crisis

For those that want to see how John McCain was involved in the Keating Five Scandal, the worst scandal in our nation's history, at the time.

Watch the following on YouTube...

It's going to get ugly.

Last but not least, look how bad Bush wants to talk us into this very bad fix.

[From Crooks & Liars.com]

President Bush said Wednesday that lawmakers risk a cascade of wiped-out retirement savings, rising home foreclosures, lost jobs and closed businesses if they fail to act on a massive financial rescue plan. "Our entire economy is in danger," he said.

"Without immediate action by Congress, American could slip into a financial panic and a distressing scenario would unfold," Bush said in a 12-minute prime-time address delivered from the White House East Room that he hoped would help rescue his tough-sell bailout package. "Ultimately, our country could experience a long and painful recession."

Said Bush: "We must not let this happen."[..]

"With the situation becoming more precarious by the day, I faced a choice: to step in with dramatic government action or to stand back and allow the irresponsible actions by some to undermine the financial security of all," Bush said.

You know, if we hadn't heard some variation on this "mushroom cloud" speech more than a half dozen times from Bush over the last eight years, it might actually have some more weight. Not that there isn't a crisis, but he's threatening us with a "long and painful recession"? Has he not been paying attention recently?

Tonight, George Bush succeeded I think in scaring Americans that this crisis could be a systemic threat. Bush said "our entire economy is in danger."

That's the fear button. He pushed it. And he said the clock was ticking.

This seems like a bad episode of "24."

What is shocking about the presentation by Bush — and the deal that is unfolding is that we don't see any acceptance of responsibility for the failure of his team's stewardship of the economy. We didn't hear acknowledgment that the compulsive deregulation mantra of Bush's political and economic allies created a massive bubble where lots of billionaires were created and now tens of millions of less fortunate Americans are holding the bill.

We didn't hear Bush say that it's time to reverse the tax cuts that he put in place to help those who have already benefited from the perverse finance and housing bubble that was pumped up.

We didn't hear a firm commitment from Bush to help the working families who hold these sub-prime and adjustable rate mortgages to stay in their homes and to help stabilize the lives of hard-hit Americans, their neighborhoods and their jobs. All the while, the macro players and big firms and their stakeholders are bailed out.

We probably do need to float major funds into the financial sector — but there needs to be a quid pro quo written in to the deal, a new social contract that does away with the "winner takes all syndrome" that has helped rot out America's economic promise.

And we need to hear what comes after the bail out. This nation is heading into recession — and is probably already there.

And now the saner minds we were hoping for...

As economists, we want to express to Congress our great concern for the plan proposed by Treasury Secretary Paulson to deal with the financial crisis. We are well aware of the difficulty of the current financial situation and we agree with the need for bold action to ensure that the financial system continues to function. We see three fatal pitfalls in the currently proposed plan:

1) Its fairness. The plan is a subsidy to investors at taxpayers' expense. Investors who took risks to earn profits must also bear the losses. Not every business failure carries systemic risk. The government can ensure a well-functioning financial industry, able to make new loans to creditworthy borrowers, without bailing out particular investors and institutions whose choices proved unwise.

2) Its ambiguity. Neither the mission of the new agency nor its oversight are clear. If taxpayers are to buy illiquid and opaque assets from troubled sellers, the terms, occasions, and methods of such purchases must be crystal clear ahead of time and carefully monitored afterwards.

3) Its long-term effects. If the plan is enacted, its effects will be with us for a generation. For all their recent troubles, America's dynamic and innovative private capital markets have brought the nation unparalleled prosperity. Fundamentally weakening those markets in order to calm short-run disruptions is desperately short- sighted.

For these reasons we ask Congress not to rush, to hold appropriate hearings, and to carefully consider the right course of action, and to wisely determine the future of the financial industry and the U.S. economy for years to come.

PLEASE.... email your congressman and tell them NO to this blatant rip-off of the American taxpayer.

Best regards to all,

Tim

Alaska: RECORD NUMBERS at Anti-Palin Rally !!

Thanks to Punk Voter for clueing me into this!

Anti-Palin rally draws hundreds in Alaska
ANCHORAGE (AP)

Hundreds of people protesting the policies of Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lined a busy street on Saturday, waving signs and chanting "Obama!"

The protest came about two hours after Palin delivered a rousing speech at Anchorage's new convention center before leaving the state to return to the campaign trail. Palin was named John McCain's running mate on Aug. 29. This was her first return since then to her home state.

The protesters, including supporters of presidential candidate Barack Obama and those who don't agree with Palin's positions ..ion, polar bears, Iraq and other issues, lined one side of the street near Anchorage's main library building.

A much smaller number of mostly pro-Palin supporters were on the other side of the street, chanting "Sarah! Sarah!"

Police were at the scene, but there were no immediate reports of clashes.

Angie Doroff, 46, helped organize the rally. The wildlife biologist, yoga teacher and artist said she was pleased and surprised at how many people showed up.

"We're not alone. A lot of people are worried about the nomination of Sarah Palin," Doroff said, as cars drove by honking their horns in support.

Barbara Norton, a 56-year-old midwife, stood near a sign that read, "Alaskan Women for Choice."

"I think America does not understand how absolutely extreme her positions are — even to the right of George Bush and John McCain," Norton said. "She is frightening."

Anne Applegate-Scott, a 44-year-old attorney and stay-at-home mom, held a sign that said, "I don't vote for liars." Applegate-Scott said she actually voted for Palin for governor but won't vote for the McCain-Palin ticket. Palin, she thinks, has become a "product" of McCain handlers and won't let her talk to the media.

When she does talk, Applegate-Scott accused Palin of lying about her record.

"She lied about her position on earmarks and building the bridge," Applegate-Scott said referring to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. "She talks about her being a feminist but it is convenient feminism, it doesn't cost her anything."

One woman held a sign that read, "I'm Bail'in on Palin!" Another said, "Pro Woman, Anti-Palin." Another read, "What About Healthcare?"

One person strolled through the crowd in a polar bear suit. The bear was holding a sign that said, "Polar bear moms say No to Palin," a reference to Palin's opposition to placing the polar bear on the threatened species list because that could interfere with drilling for oil off Alaska's coast.

As more people gathered, the rally took on the look of a large family gathering with protesters hugging each other and exclaiming their surprise that so many people had gathered.

On the lawn outside the library two men held up a large banner that said, "Iraq War is Fraud. Palin is a puppet." One of the men waved an Alaskan state flag.

Some of the signs spoke out against Palin's anti-abortion position. Laura Kimmel, a 40-year-old Anchorage woman expecting her second baby in April, wore a clothes hanger with a sign attached that said, "This is not a surgical instrument. Keep abortions safe and legal."

Susan Soule, 65, a part-time health consultant, said she is old enough to remember when abortion wasn't legal and what women went through who wanted to terminate their pregnancies.

"I know the terror of unwanted pregnancy and back-room abortions. I know what that did to women," said Soule.

Hilary Seitz, 39, attended the rally with her two girls, 8-year-old Abbigale and 11-year-old Taylor. If McCain becomes president and Palin is the VP, Seitz said she fears what will happen on the Supreme Court and keeping abortion legal.

"It really scares me that if we lose that option what are women going to do," Seitz said. She said that she was at the rally for her girls and their futures.

Earlier in the day, a smaller crowd of Palin supporters gathered at the convention center. Angelina Klapperich, 14, wore her crown for winning Miss Alaska Junior Teen in 2007.

"I think she is a super role model for young people," the girl said of Palin, who won Miss Wasilla and came in second at the 1984 Miss Alaska pageant, taking home the Miss Congeniality award. "She has so much integrity and she is really confident."

Also on Saturday, 14 people held signs like "Honk if You Love Gay People" during a 12-hour vigil outside the Abbott Loop Community Church in Anchorage, where a conference promising to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer was being held.

Palin's place of worship, the Wasilla Bible Church, promoted the "Love Won Out" conference, sponsored by Focus on the Family.

"Our main message is that God loves everyone the way they are," said protester Mike Mason. "People should be accepted for who they are."

Attempts by The Associated Press to reach someone at the church Saturday for comment were not successful.

Because We Still Live Here

Sep 18, 2008 - Sep 20, 2008

Creative Reflections on RNC week, Tactics for Social Change and Visions for a Transformed Twin Cities

Bedlam Theatre hosts an evening of creative reflections (stories, songs, slides, videos, theatrical reenactments) on personal experiences during RNC week followed by a facilitated creative dialogue focused on carrying the momentum forward.

Because we need to tell our stories and hear those of others. Because we're interested in the impact of mass actions, the various tactics employed, and most importantly how the momentum generated by such a huge event can be carried forth as a movement. Because we want to help strengthen connections in the radical community in the Twin Cities. Because we still live here!

ATTENTION FIREFOX USERS

Especially if you use Myspace!

I personally do not recomend using Myspace with INTERNET EXPLORER !!

PLUG-INS

If you use Firefox, YOU NEED THESE PLUG-INS !!

It takes a while at first to get all the settings in place but once you've surfed a day or two on your nomal places, you will notice a difference.  Faster loading pages, and less annoyanced from ads.  Flash Block takes a little more effort in that you have to manually add sites to the whitelist.  A whitelist is a list of sites you will allow to show flash content.

COOKIE SETTINGS

If you are an advanced user, I recomend setting your cookie preferences to ask for your approval every time.  This will eventually save you load time, and increase your privacy.

Click TOOLS > OPTIONS > PRIVACY, Then look under accept cookies, and select keep until - ASK ME EVERY TIME.  I will warn you however, there are a LOT of cookie decisions to make, especially at first.  Over time these will deminish.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE about OKing a cookie, click "this session only" on the dialog box.  This will allow it to work but not persist on your system after you close your Firefox browser.

Hope this increases your enjoyment of the web !!
