Less than a dozen years after Dolly the sheep became the world's first cloned mammal, grocers and restaurateurs are digesting the fact that milk and meat from cloned animals could soon filter into their supply chains.

The government took major steps toward easing cloned livestock and their offspring into the food supply in mid-January, when the Food and Drug Administration concluded they're safe to eat.

The question is, will consumers swallow the new technology? And how will food businesses cope if their customers balk?

Many food merchants are still framing their policies while they warily monitor public opinion. The historic commercial debut of cloning comes in an era when a significant segment of consumers have rejected other foods the FDA deemed safe, such as milk from hormone-treated cows and genetically modified corn.

Cloning is an attempt to create a new animal using the DNA from an existing adult animal. The FDA, while noting that livestock cloning produces many malformed or ill newborn animals, said cloned animals that survive for several months after birth can be healthy. They can reproduce normally and produce healthy young, the FDA said. The agency said it found no signs that food from healthy clones is harmful to humans, and predicted that sickly clones would be excluded from the food supply.

Consumer groups, however, have called FDA's positive safety assessment hasty and ill-founded. The Center for Food Safety said the FDA based many conclusions on small or limited studies, many of them financed by cloning companies. Clones that appear healthy can have infections, or abnormalities that could affect food quality such as unusual proteins or imbalances between protein and fats, the group said. Further studies should be done to evaluate clones and their offspring, the organization said.

Such groups are urging consumers to press their supermarkets and restaurants to refuse food from clones. And those businesses are being peppered with inquiries like "Will my hamburger meat come from a cloned cow?" and "Are clones kosher?"

Independent grocer Sam Mogannam said he didn't need any calls from his customers to know if they'd accept food from cloned lineages. He's sure they won't. And he has no intention of stocking any at Bi-Rite Market, which he bills as a mecca for organic, sustainable and non-artificial foods in San Francisco's Mission District.

"We believe in allowing nature to take its due course," he said. "I know our customers wouldn't support us if they knew we were knowingly accepting products from clones or their offspring."

But food merchants, from small shop owners to national supermarket chains, could face formidable challenges if they want to guarantee customers the option of avoiding all products linked to cloning.

No public system is in place to alert food sellers when products from animal lines that include clones could reach their shelves - whether in the form of a rib-eye steak, a quart of low-fat milk, a can of beef minestrone or a wedge of sharp cheddar.

Consumer groups such as the Center for Food Safety and Consumers Union support mandatory labeling of all products linked to cloning, from raw meat to meatball sandwiches. They're backing bills proposed in Congress and by a few state legislators, including state Sen. Carole Migden, D-San Francisco. Without labeling, they argue, any food safety problems that did arise from cloning would never be linked to the technology.

Some retailers, after hearing from customers, are also calling for some form of government action. Two supermarket chains with a significant presence in Northern California, Safeway and Whole Foods Market, say the government should oversee a system to track clones through the food supply. It should also consider other means, such as food labeling, to ensure that consumers can make informed choices about products of cloning, the companies said.

"The lack of effective governmental oversight and tracking could mean consumers will lose the ability to choose clone-free products," Whole Foods spokeswoman Margaret Wittenberg said.

The FDA maintains that no labeling or disclosure requirements are necessary to protect public health. The agency, after years of study, issued a lengthy report Jan. 15 concluding that milk and meat from cloned cattle, pigs and goats are safe for consumption. The FDA said it had too little information to assess cloned sheep, but it found no food safety problems connected with the progeny of clones.

The offspring of all cloned livestock were immediately cleared as food sources by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, based on the FDA's findings. Clones themselves - cattle, pigs and goats - will also enter the food supply. But when, and under what regulatory scheme, if any, has not yet been decided.

The USDA is inviting industry input as it develops a plan to usher cloned animals into the market. In the meantime, the agency is asking companies that have created or purchased clones to honor a voluntary ban on selling their meat or milk for food.

This means that Ditto, a cloned cow created by a UC Davis researcher, can't be a food source just yet because the university honors the temporary ban. But UC Davis is now free to sell milk or meat from Ditto's daughter, an unnamed Holstein cow conceived by sexual reproduction.

Even before the FDA's favorable report, a few clone owners admitted in various news reports that they had already sold milk or meat from the animals as food.

As the rules stand now, livestock breeders and milk or meat suppliers have no legal obligation to disclose to either food manufacturers or consumers that a product came from a cloned animal line. Some vendors plan to keep their products clear of cloned lineages, but the FDA may not permit packages to bear a voluntary label such as "clone free."

Safeway Inc. of Pleasanton, one of the nation's largest food retailers, said its customers are demanding more information. The company acknowledged that the government conducted important studies on food from clones. But to help shoppers make informed choices about products tied to cloning, Safeway supports additional studies "that would help ensure changes to federal policy are done in a manner that maintains consumer confidence and informed decision making."

The Pleasanton chain, which has 269 stores in Northern California, is asking its suppliers to deliver no products from cloned animals while the government mulls its options. "Meanwhile, the federal government should exercise its authority and expertise to determine an appropriate regulatory framework, including traceability and labeling," Safeway said in response to a Chronicle inquiry. Safeway declined to say whether it will accept foods from the offspring of clones.

Trader Joe's, a Monrovia (Los Angeles County) grocery chain that carries many organic product lines, did not respond to The Chronicle's query.

Bruce Knight, USDA undersecretary for marketing, said the agency is willing to help industry members create a tracking and certification program if they request it. The USDA already administers standards and certification of organic products. Knight said the USDA would work with companies that want to set up voluntary labeling of food from clones.

Few food businesses have actively sought to sell products from cloned animal lines, but all could be affected by the few U.S. cloning companies in business. Their customers are farmers who want replicas of valuable breeding animals - clones of a prize bull, for example, whose semen fetches high prices for artificial insemination. As breeders, cloned animals could quickly influence the gene pool of U.S. livestock. The preserved semen of one bull can be sent throughout the country to produce thousands of descendants.

One healthy cloned calf can cost as much as $20,000. But these expensive animals may enter the meat supply when their reproductive lives wane. Their milk will also be sold for dairy products.

At this point, retailers that want to avoid food from clones are relying on private agreements with their suppliers, who in turn have to trust their own sources. Meat packers may be able to exclude some clones by consulting an industry database of cloned animals whose owners volunteer to register them. The two major livestock cloning companies, ViaGen Inc. and Trans Ova Genetics, are developing the registry with the certification company AgInfoLink. Meatpackers would be able to scan or read an animal's ear tag to identify clones, said AgInfoLink executive Glenn Smith.

At this point, AgInfoLink doesn't plan to track the milk, semen or offspring of clones. But Smith said that could change if retailers request such services.

Most food outlets that have taken a stand on cloning have said they will exclude clones themselves, but not necessarily food from their progeny.

Natural foods retailer Whole Foods Market of Austin, Texas, which has 24 stores in Northern California, said its products will remain free of both clones and their descendants.

"We are working with our supplier community to develop a chain of custody records that trace product breeding stock through multiple generations," said Edmund LaMacchia, vice president of purchasing for perishables.

It's not clear, however, that all USDA-certified organic operations will be completely "clone free." Some organic producers say they're not sure yet how they can guarantee that their animals have no ties to cloning. That includes Albert Straus, president of Straus Family Creamery in Marin County, which supplies all the dairy products for Sam Mogannam's Mission District market and nearby ice cream store.

Like most dairy operators, Straus relies on artificial insemination to reproduce his herd. Straus wants the government to require semen suppliers to reveal whether their products come from a cloned bull or its young. Without such certainty, Straus said, dairies might lose their organic certification from the USDA.

USDA's organic standards do rule out clones, but the agency may permit the use of a clone's descendants, Knight said. Therefore, consumers who want to avoid food from both clones and their offspring may not be able to rely solely on the organic label.

Buying only kosher foods won't insulate consumers from products of cloning at all. Rabbi Menachem Genack of the Orthodox Union, which certifies food items as kosher, said cloned animals would qualify as long as they belong to a single kosher species, such as cattle, sheep and goats.

At this point, consumer choice rests on a patchwork chain of voluntary agreements among suppliers and retailers.

The first time many Americans take a bite of food from a cloned animal or its offspring, they may never know it.

Cloning's imperfections at center of debate

Twenty years from now, the eating public may blithely accept food from cloned animals. But at this point, consumer groups are aghast at government actions to usher cloned livestock and their offspring into the U.S. food supply. To a large extent, the resistance stems from the fact that livestock cloning is still an imperfect art.

The Food and Drug Administration found in January that food from healthy clones and their progeny is safe. But in the same lengthy report, the FDA also detailed snags in the current art of animal cloning that reduce its rate of producing healthy clones to less than 10 percent. Many cloned embryos die or develop into sickly newborns.

Among consumer groups, those technical snags have raised questions not only about food safety, but also about animal welfare and ethics. They contend that further study may reveal health dangers the FDA didn't discover, as new testing methods emerge. In the FDA's view, future research will not only confirm the safety of food from clones, but will also improve methods of creating them.

Clones are made by coaxing a single adult cell from the original animal - call it a bull named George - to form an embryo that will become George2. The nucleus containing George's DNA is swapped into an egg cell from a cow, after the egg's nucleus is removed. The hope is that the resulting embryo, implanted in a surrogate mother, will be an exact copy of George. But about 90 percent of the time, that doesn't happen.

Clones can be born grossly malformed, and many die within six months. The fetuses can grow too large, causing difficult, extended pregnancies ending with delivery by cesarean section, the FDA found in a review of scientific studies.

But the FDA said clones that survive past six months are often healthy and fertile. Their offspring have even fewer health problems, the agency said. No significant differences appeared in milk or meat from cloned animal lines and their non-cloned counterparts, FDA reported.

The FDA acknowledged that newborn clones are often sick or dying, but said those animals would never pass inspection for entry into the food supply.

Consumer groups aren't convinced that cloning raises no safety concerns. For example, they suspect that many young clones will survive only through treatment with antibiotics and other drugs. Such animals could enter the food supply and affect human health, they contend.

An ethics board advising the European Food Safety Authority concluded in January that cloning for food production cannot be justified at this point because of the suffering of both deformed clones and their surrogate mothers, or dams, in animal breeding terms.

On the question of food safety, however, the European Food Safety Authority agreed with the FDA. The FDA, whose purview is limited to food safety, did not evaluate the ethics of cloning.

Bush Administration Hides More Data, Shuts Down Website Tracking U.S. Economic Indicators

The U.S. economy is faltering. Family debt is on the rise, benefits are disappearing, the deficit is skyrocketing, and the mortgage crisis has worsened. Conservatives have attempted to deflect attention from the crisis, by blaming the media's negative coverage and insisting the United States is not headed toward a recession, despite what economists are predicting.

The Bush administration's latest move is to simply hide the data. Forbes has awarded EconomicIndicators.gov one of its "Best of the Web" awards. As Forbes explains, the government site provides an invaluable service to the public for accessing U.S. economic ..

This site is maintained by the Economics and Statistics Administration and combines data collected by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, like GDP and net imports and exports, and the Census Bureau, like retail sales and durable goods shipments. The site simply links to the relevant department's Web site. This might not seem like a big deal, but doing it yourself–say, trying to find retail sales data on the Census Bureau's site–is such an exercise in futility that it will convince you why this portal is necessary.

Yet the Bush administration has decided to shut down this site because of "budgetary constraints," effective March 1:

Economic Indicators is particularly useful because people can sign up to receive e-mails as soon as new economic data across government agencies becomes available. While the data will still be available online at various federal websites, it will be less readily accessible to members of the public.

In its e-mail announcement on the closing of Economic Indicators, the Department of Commerce acknowledged the "inconvenience" and offered "a free quarterly subscription to STAT-USA®/Internet--" instead. Once this temporary subscription runs out, however, the public will be forced to pay a fee. So not only will economic data be more hidden, it will also cost money.

It's ironic that the Economic and Statistics Administration is facing "budgetary contraints," considering Bush recently submitted a record $3.1 trillion budget to Congress for FY '09.

Desperate mothers are being urged to drop their unwanted babies through hatches at hospitals in an effort to halt a spate of infanticides that has shocked Germany.

At least 23 babies have been killed so far this year, many of them beaten to death or strangled by their mothers before being dumped on wasteland and in dustbins.

Police investigating the murders are at a loss to explain the sudden surge in such cases, which have involved mothers of all ages all over the country.

Now city councils have launched an advertising campaign to highlight the problem and to promote greater use of the Baby-Klappe hatches that allow women to drop off their babies to be found and cared for without having to give their names. Posters were being put up in cities and towns across Germany yesterday, urging women to make use of the Baby-Klappe, with the slogan "Before babies land in the rubbish bin . . ."

The campaign has already attracted criticism from senior clergymen and from charities, including Caritas, who argue that it could actively encourage mothers to dump their children. But there is agreement that something must be done to address what appears to be an infanticide epidemic.

Last Thursday a 27-year-old woman known as Sabine H surrendered to police in an east German town after her newborn child was found in a blue plastic rubbish bag trapped in the reeds of a lake.

In the same week Monika K, 26, was arrested on suspicion of throwing her baby out of a ten-storey Hamburg apartment building, wrapped in a plastic shopping bag. She had given birth to him half an hour before, in the bath. A dog found the bag and scratched it open.

For the past week, Susanne H from Baiersdorf in Bavaria has been on trial for strangling her baby daughter and putting her in the freezer. The 39-year-old mother of two boys, aged 10 and 4, feared her boyfriend's disapproval. "He threatened to throw me out if I concealed another pregnancy from him," she told the court.

Another woman was arrested in Kiel a week ago after police found two dead babies in her freezer. One was stillborn a year ago; the other was a recent live birth.

Earlier this month a driver pulled up at a car park in Kiel and found the corpse of a young baby in a waste-paper basket. The DNA coincided with that of another baby who was fished out of a rubbish sorting depot a year ago; the mother has not been traced.

So far this year at least 23 cases of infanticide have come to light, well above the average. Experts believe that the true figure is even higher. Professor Helmut Kury, a criminologist, say: "Some women have a greater fear of losing their partners than of losing their child. They take desperate measures to save a relationship."

Professor Mechthild Neises, head of the Psychosomatic Unit at the Medical University in Hanover, agreed: "Such women have usually lied about their pregnancy for so long that they have stopped believing that they are actually pregnant. When the baby suddenly arrives, they panic and just want to get rid of it."

But the baby-drops, modelled on foundling wheels that were first used in Italy in medieval times, are not the final antidote to these killings. "Often the mother is under such psychological pressure that she doesn't even register alternatives like the Baby-Klappe," Dr Neises said.

But they do offer an alternative for some mothers. The drop-off point is usually hidden from view, shielded by trees and away from security cameras. The baby is put on to a tray that slides through a hole in the wall and is gently lowered into a heated cot. An alarm bell alerts nursing staff — but only after the mother has been given sufficient time to make a getaway. The baby can be reclaimed, usually up to three months later, should the mother change her mind.

In Berlin the posters, giving full addresses and phone numbers of three hospitals with baby-drops, are sponsored by Hans Wall, a businessman whose company maintains bus shelters and public lavatories. A baby was dumped in one of his shelters on a cold night last January. He became its godfather and will finance its education.

Political support for the campaign has come from the Greens, but the Government is more wary, fearing legal problems. On occasions children with severe disabilities or babies aged over 3 months have been dumped: both in breach of the law.

"There are serious legal and professional arguments against baby-drops," a government spokeswoman said. "But we cannot ignore the fact that they can save lives."

In Berlin alone 6 babies have been pushed through a slot since they were introduced in 2003. Initial scepticism started to melt after a woman in eastern German was arrested for letting nine of her babies die. Some were buried in plant pots in her garden.

Regarding plans to microchip newborns, Dr. Kilde said the U.S. has been moving in this direction "in secrecy."

She added that in Sweden, Prime Minister Olof Palme gave permission in 1973 to implant prisoners, and Data Inspection's ex-Director General Jan Freese revealed that nursing-home patients were implanted in the mid-1980s. The technology is revealed in the 1972:47 Swedish state report, Statens Officiella Utradninger.

According to the Finnish article, distributed to doctors and medical students, time is running out for changing the direction of military medicine and mind control technology, ensuring the future of human freedom.

"Implanted human beings can be followed anywhere. Their brain functions can be remotely monitored by supercomputers and even altered through the changing of frequencies," wrote Dr. Kilde. "Guinea pigs in secret experiments have included prisoners, soldiers, mental patients,handicapped children, deaf and blind people, homosexuals, single women, the elderly, school children, and any group of people considered "marginal" by the elite experimenters. The published experiences of prisoners in Utah State Prison, for example, are shocking to the conscience.

"Today's microchips operate by means of low-frequency radio waves that target them. With the help of satellites, the implanted person can be tracked anywhere on the globe. Such a technique was among a number tested in the Iraq war, according to Dr. Carl Sanders, who invented the intelligence-manned interface (IMI) biotic, which is injected into people. (Earlier during the Vietnam War, soldiers were injected with the Rambo chip, designed to increase adrenaline flow into the bloodstream.) The 20-billion-bit/second supercomputers at the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) could now "see and hear" what soldiers experience in the battlefield with a remote monitoring system (RMS).

"When a 5-micromillimeter microchip (the diameter of a strand of hair is 50 micromillimeters) is placed into optical nerve of the eye,", Dr. Kilde indicates "it draws neuro-impulses from the brain that embody the experiences, smells, sights, and voice of the implanted person. Once transferred and stored in a computer, these neuro-impulses can be projected back to the person's brain via the microchip to be re-experienced. Using a RMS, a land-based computer operator can send electromagnetic messages (encoded as signals) to the nervous system, affecting the target's performance. With RMS, healthy persons can be induced to see hallucinations and to hear voices in their heads. "

"Every thought, reaction, hearing, and visual observation causes a certain neurological potential, spikes, and patterns in the brain and its electromagnetic fields, which can now be decoded into thoughts, pictures, and voices, " Dr. Kilde adds. "Electromagnetic stimulation can therefore change a person's brainwaves and affect muscular activity, causing painful muscular cramps experienced as torture."

Hello all ...   I said many years ago that there would come a time when the conspiracy would break the surface where all but the most blinkered and blind would see the obvious.   That had to happen because we are living at a time when the hidden manipulation wants to morph into daily reality with a global political, economic and military dictatorship. We are now seeing this with the onslaught of surveillance and control that invades every area of our lives and the constant centralisation of power across the world.   And over the last two weeks in the United States another major expression of the conspiracy has been exposed for those with eyes to see - the utter irrelevance of 'democratic' elections. It is one more prime example of the hidden now becoming manifest ... manifestly obvious.   What a 'choice' Americans face in 'choosing' (if only) their president. In terms of those with a chance of winning in November there is no choice, except between masks on the same face.     Democrat or Republican? Clinton or Obama?   We have the same mantra at every 'election' about the 'old' politics and the need to break the grip on America of the 'Washington establishment'. We need 'outsiders' not absorbed into the Washington web of lobbyists and 'special interests', the [fairy] story goes.   This is vital to manipulating the people into believing they still have a choice between different policies and philosophies and thus they are still 'free'. The key word with regard to this is 'change' - 'We need change'; 'this country wants change'; 'I stand for change'. 'Hope' is another connected theme thrown in for good measure.   In 1992, a guy called Bill Clinton, an establishment place-man and crooked to his fingertips, swept to office by talking about 'change', 'change', change'. One of his catchphrases 16 years ago was 'courage to change' and he also stood for 'hope'.   This can be a potent weapon in twisting the minds of the populous because most people are not happy with their lives or the state of their country and so 'change' can seem a very good idea. 'Yeah, that's right, we need change'.   But the 'change' always turns out to be very loose indeed. Bill 'Change' Clinton was a close associate of the very father George Bush that he was seeking to replace in the White House. They had been running drugs together for years through the Mena Airstrip in Arkansas where Clinton was governor and his wife was a corrupt lawyer at the Rose Law Firm which financially and legally stitched up the State.   Sure, Bill stood for change alright - changing the personnel at the White House by bussing in the Arkansas establishment to relocate their criminal activities to Pennsylvania Avenue. Nothing changed, except the names of the people who ensured business-as-usual.       So it was with heavy heart and shaking head that I have watched the vacuous stage show of 'rock star' Barack Obama. What does he stand for, he tells us with every breath? 'Change'. He is even quoting the Cocaine Kid from 1992 with his 'courage to change'.   Strategically placed behind him at almost every rally are the moronic rent-a-crowds waving their banners emblazoned with two words 'Obama - Change'. The entire strategy is based on that one thought with 'nice guy' and 'straight guy' thrown in here and there.   That's it. No substance, no depth, just repeated single words. Political 'debate' in 2008 has plumbed still new depths.   When I first came across Barack Obama I knew nothing about him, but when I saw his eyes and his body language and heard his empty rhetoric and carefully-practiced delivery it was clear to me that we were dealing with yet another member of the Actors Union. Another Tony Blair, another Bill Clinton. Obama is not a man I would trust to tell me anything without checking.   As a professional spinner might say: 'He doesn't have to believe it, he just has to sell it'.   He claims to be the son of a goat herder in Kenya and we're now told that 'an African goat herder's son could be the President of the United States'. But the truth is rather different according to American columnist Andy Martin, who says the claim is a lie.   Obama's grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama, was a prominent and wealthy farmer. His son, Obama's father, was a child of privilege, not privation, Martin writes. He was an outstanding student, not a herdsman. Martin also reveals that many other statements Barack Obama has made about his father and the family background in Africa are false and paint a picture that simply isn't true. As Martin said:   'I feel sad having to expose Barack Obama, but the man is a complete fraud. The truth is going to surprise, and disappoint, and outrage many people who were drawn to him. He has lied to the American people, and he has sought to misrepresent his own heritage.   'Obama's life story is vastly different from the one he portrays. My point: if he will lie about his mother and father, what else is he lying about? Can we expect "bimbo eruptions"?'   The first term Senator for Illinois is playing the 'outsider', the fresh face and fresh mind, who is not connected either to the political past or the lobbyist mafia that controls much of the legislation agreed, or squashed, on Capitol Hill.   That's what he says he stands for, but it's not what it looks like.   His foreign policy advisor and vocal supporter is Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter's national security advisor, who says that Obama offers 'a new definition of America's role in the world'.       This is the same Brzezinski who created the Illuminati's Trilateral Commission with David Rockefeller in 1973. The Trilateral Commission is dedicated to a world government dictatorship and closely connects with other strands in the web like the Council on Foreign Relations (member: Barack Obama) and the Bilderberg Group.   Brzezinski's foreign 'policy' during the Carter administration, as he has since admitted without regret, was to entice the Soviet Union to invade Afghanistan in December, 1979. The idea, he said, was to weaken their rival superpower and the result was a ten-year occupation that cost the lives of an estimated 1.3 million Afghans and spawned the Mujahedin, Taliban and Osama bin Laden.   Deep breath: he's now advising Barack Obama on foreign policy   The Polish-born Brzezinski's books and public statements have confirmed his belief in the Trilateral Commission's commitment to a world dictatorship. In his book, Between Two Ages: America's Role In The Technetronic Era, he described a new society '... that is shaped culturally, psychologically, socially, and economically by the impact of technology and electronics - particularly in the area of computers and communication'.   He said that 'national sovereignty is no longer a viable concept' and suggested the movement, in stages, 'toward a larger community of the developed nations [world government] ... through a variety of indirect ties and already developing limitations on national sovereignty'.   His son, Mark Brzezinski, an 'international lawyer' in Washington, is also an Obama advisor and commends the would-be president's 'global approach' ... ('global approach', 'global security', 'world community' and so on is all Illuminati Newspeak for the centralisation of global power.)   Obama's advisor on the Middle East is Dennis B. Ross, who was director for policy planning in the State Department under President father Bush and special Middle East coordinator to President Bill Clinton. So much for Obama's 'change' with the past and 'breaking the grip' of the Washington establishment.       Ross was born to a Jewish mother which hardly makes him the ideal person to talk independently, and therefore credibly, about how to end the Israel-Palestine conflict and he became the first chairman of the Jerusalem-based 'think tank', the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute, which is funded and founded by the Jewish Agency.   In fact, the Canadian Jewish News and other Jewish publications have pointed out that Obama 'has made Jewish leaders an early stop at every stage in his political career'. The first foreign policy speech of his candidacy was delivered to the notorious lobby group, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which is 100% dedicated to securing US policy that suits the interests of Israel.   Obama says 'bring the troops home' and 'diplomacy, not war'. All good stuff and it is a compelling message, if it were genuine. But around him are those, like Zbigniew Brzezinski, who see war and aggression as a means of global expansion and colonisation. Obama himself said he would have no problem bombing Pakistan if it suited American interests:   'If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will'.   That's what Bush said, and did, when he made the 'actionable intelligence' fit the agenda for invading Afghanistan and Iraq. The fact is that Obama is not againstwar; he is against the invasion of Iraq.   He advocates deploying troops in Iraq to Pakistan and Afghanistan to fight 'terrorists' and he says of Iran: 'We should take no option, including military action, off the table'. So he is not against war, which appears to be his image for many, he is against one war.       Moses Mercado   Another Obama claim is that his administration would not be influenced by lobbyists for the corporate cartels and yet he has precisely these people among his campaign advisory team, including Moses Mercado, who has lobbied Congress and the Bush administration on behalf of two Illuminati private-equity firms, the Blackstone Group and the Carlyle Group.   The Carlyle Group, which is closely connected to father George Bush and has had the Bin Laden family among its clients, paid Mercado $260,000 while the Blackstone Group rewarded his work with $3.7 million.   Among other professional lobbyists (manipulators of policy) on the Obama team is Daniel Shapiro, a foreign policy advisor on the Middle East, who has some of America's biggest corporate names on her client list. These include Anheuser-Busch, Daimler Chrysler, the American Petroleum Institute and Freddie Mac. Shapiro also served on Bill Clinton's National Security Council.   In short, Barack Obama is just another fraud and fake selling a lie - a front man for the same people who have controlled American politics for decades. He doesn't stand for change, nor hope, but for more of the same, sugar-coated as 'the new JFK'.       Whether America votes for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton the outcome will be the same because they won't dictate policy - the Shadow People will. Obama says he stands for 'change' and Clinton responds by saying she also stands for 'change', but she has the experience to make the 'change' happen.   In truth, they stand for the status quo because that's the position of those who control them. All the rest is fakery.   This nonsense about a 'Kenyan goat-herders son' becoming the most powerful man in the world or Clinton's 'strike for women' is just for effect. They are two come-and-go people, the latest in their line going back centuries, who have only the appearance of power, not the reality of it. Clinton is far, far higher in the hidden hierarchy, however, and she is probably the one they want, although she is a hard sell and others are ready to play the game should she not make it.         What a shower America is being offered in this election year. On both 'sides' they line up their crooks, liars, manipulators and airheads and say 'choose your president'. Never has the 'choice' been so blatantly irrelevant.   With, that is, one exception.   What a joy it has been to see Republican rebel Ron Paul take on the establishment repeaters with such incisive intelligence and common sense. To see this 72-year-old demolish his yes-men rivals with the sheer logic and grasp of his case has been some real 'change' and he has exposed both their staggering ignorance and their disinterest in anything, but their own desire for status and power.       He has brilliantly taken his media opportunities to demolish the 'money' scam, the invasion and continued occupation of Iraq, and the way the system is designed to steal the peoples' income through criminal levels of taxation.   Paul doesn't seem to have the big picture and this week he distanced himself from those who say that 9/11 was an inside job, which was disappointing. It was, I would suggest, a major mistake.   But compared with the rest, thank goodness for Ron Paul amid the political pantomime unfolding on the TV news. I work on the basis of 'don't vote because it only encourages them', but if I were American I would make an exception for Ron Paul this time around if only to increase his public platform.   He can't win because he's not an insider, but he is alerting many people to the nature of America and at least some of the forces that control it. This makes Ron Paul a true advocate of 'change' while Barack Obama is just another fake, another 'rock star', who joined the club. By David Icke

It looks as though our search for and civilizations with advanced intelliegence will continue in the fast and furious race afoot among the world's nomally placid astronomy community to discover potential Earth-like planets.

The planet orbits the faint star Gliese 581, which is 20.5 light-years away in the constellation Libra.

Scientists made the discovery using the Eso 3.6m Telescope in Chile.

They say the benign temperatures on the planet mean any water there could exist in liquid form, and this raises the chances it could also harbour life. .. E SF -->

"We have estimated that the mean temperature of this 'super-Earth' lies between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius, and water would thus be liquid," explained Stephane Udry of the Geneva Observatory, lead author of the scientific paper reporting the result.

Moreover, its radius should be only 1.5 times the Earth's radius, and models predict that the planet should be either rocky - like our Earth - or covered with oceans."

Xavier Delfosse, a member of the team from Grenoble University, added: "Liquid water is critical to life as we know it."

He believes the planet may now become a very important target for future space missions dedicated to the search for extra-terrestrial life.

These missions will put telescopes in space that can discern the tell-tale light "signatures" that might be associated with biological processes.

The observatories would seek to identify trace atmospheric gases such as methane, and even markers for chlorophyll, the pigment in Earth plants that plays a critical role in photosynthesis.

'Indirect' detection

The exoplanet - as astronomers call planets around a star other than the Sun - is the smallest yet found, and has been given the designation Gliese 581 c.

It completes a full orbit of its parent star in just 13 days.

Indeed, it is 14 times closer to its star than the Earth is to our Sun.

However, given that the host star is smaller and colder than the Sun - and thus less luminous - the planet nevertheless lies in the "habitable zone", the region around a star where water could be liquid.

Gliese 581 c was identified at the European Southern Observatory (Eso) facility at La Silla in the Atacama Desert.

To make their discovery, researchers used a very sensitive instrument that can measure tiny changes in the velocity of a star as it experiences the gravitational tug of a nearby planet.

Astronomers are stuck with such indirect methods of detection because current telescope technology struggles to image very distant and faint objects - especially when they orbit close to the glare of a star.

The Gliese 581 system has now yielded three planets: the new super-Earth, a 15 Earth-mass planet (Gliese 581 b) orbiting even closer to the parent star, and an eight Earth-mass planet that lies further out (Gliese 581 d).

Of the more than 200 exoplanets so far discovered, a great many are Jupiter-like gas giants that experience blazing temperatures because they orbit close in to much hotter stars.

The Gliese 581 super-Earth is in what scientists also sometimes call the "Goldilocks Zone", where temperatures "are just right" for life to have a chance to exist.

Commenting on the discovery, Alison Boyle, the curator of astronomy at London's Science Museum, said: "Of all the planets we've found around other stars, this is the one that looks as though it might have the right ingredients for life.

"It's 20 light-years away and so we won't be going there anytime soon, but with new kinds of propulsion technology that could change in the future. And obviously we'll be training some powerful telescopes on it to see what we can see," she told BBC News.

"'Is there life anywhere else?' is a fundamental question we all ask."

Professor Glenn White at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory is helping to develop the European Space Agency's Darwin mission, which will scan the nearby Universe, looking for signs of life on Earth-like planets. He said: "This is an important step in the search for true Earth-like exoplanets.

"As the methods become more and more refined, astronomers are narrowing in on the ultimate goal - the detection of a true Earth-like planet elsewhere.

"Obviously this newly discovered planet and its companions in the Gliese 581 system will become prominent targets for missions like Esa's Darwin and Nasa's Terrestrial planet Finder when they fly in about a decade."

Another prominent scientist has thrown his weight behind the long term agenda to implement measures to stem the population of the planet, a view that is gaining ground with increased pressure on governments to act over climate change as the justification.

The Medical Journal of Australia has published a report by a professor who  suggests that couples with more than two children should be charged a lifelong tax to offset their extra offspring's carbon dioxide emissions.

The report in an Australian medical journal called for parents to be charged $5000 a head for every child after their second, and an annual tax of up to $800, reports the AAP .

And couples who were sterilised would be eligible for carbon credits under the controversial proposal.

The report, written by Perth specialist Professor Barry Walters, also suggests that the government should introduce a "baby levy" in the form of a carbon tax in line with the "polluter pays" principle.

The proposals smack of Communist China's one child policy and present a nightmare scenario of authoritarian governmental control. Under such legislation the government would essentially have the power to force people to stop re-producing.

You may think such views are extreme and representative of a small minority, and you'd be right. The problem however is that this minority are the ones in power.

Similar views have been espoused by UN agencies such as the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), WHO and UNICEF and international NGO's such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation, as well as The US Government for decades.

We have previously documented the elite's hideous interest in depopulation techniques , an interest that mirrors the nightmare eugenics visions of Nazi scientists in the 1940s.

Calls to begin sterilizing the human population have previously been put forward by former secretary of State and high ranking Bilderberger Henry Kissinger in a declassified document of the National Security Council (1974) entitled "The Implications of World-wide Population Growth on the Security and External Interests of the United States".

This document lists, as a priority, birth-rate control in 13 key countries in the Third World, especially in South America. Extraordinary resources were allotted to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the policy of birth-rate control.

The memorandum basically stresses the need to offer increased aid for third world countries that agree to implement programs of sterilization and depopulation.

It also contains sections entitled:

Creating Conditions Conducive to Fertility Decline, which calls for, amongst other things, "reducing infant and child mortality"

Concentration on Education and Indoctrination of The Rising Generation of Children Regarding the Desirability of Smaller Family Size

Utilization of Mass Media and Satellite Communications Systems for Family Planning

The memorandum also includes a section that lauds abortion and states that " -- It would be unwise to restrict abortion research for the following reasons: 1) The persistent and ubiquitous nature of abortion. 2) Widespread lack of safe abortion techniques..."

Kissinger also prepared a depopulation manifesto for President Jimmy Carter called 'Global 2000' which detailed using food as a weapon to depopulate the third world.

The United Nations Population Fund directly supports policies such as that of the "one child policy" in Communist China which encapsulates coercive and enforced abortion.

In 2002 Secretary of State Colin Powell stated in a letter to Congress:

"Regrettably, the People's Republic of China has in place a regime of severe penalties on women who have unapproved births. This regime plainly operates to coerce pregnant women to have abortions in order to avoid the penalties and therefore amounts to a 'program of coercive abortion.' Regardless of the modest size of UNFPA's budget in China or any benefits its programs provide, UNFPA's support of, and involvement in, China's population-planning activities allows the Chinese government to implement more effectively its program of coercive abortion."

Yet The UNPFA seem to think this is a great thing:

"China has had the most successful family planning policy in the history of mankind in terms of quantity and with that, China has done mankind a favour," United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative Sven Burmester said last week. —10/11/99 Agence France-Presse

Under the Reagan Administration legislation sponsored by then- Rep. Jack Kemp (NY) and then-Sen. Bob Kasten (WI) ensured funding to the UNPFA was cut off for these very reasons. Yet is was no surprise when In 1993, the Clinton Administration dramatically revised the official interpretation of the "Kemp-Kasten amendment" in order to facilitate U.S. funding of UNFPA, thus making available $14.5 million.

In May 2003, the House Committee on International Relations narrowly adopted an an amendment by Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) revoking the ban on such participation with the UNPFA. The amendment earmarked $100 million for UNFPA over the next two years.

Such calls to depopulate are echoed within the western scientific community by prominent figures such as Dr. Eric R. Pianka , who travels around the US speaking of the need to exterminate 90% of the population in order to save the planet. He suggests using the airborne ebola virus to do the job, choosing it over AIDS because of its faster kill period. Ebola victims suffer the most tortuous deaths imaginable as the virus kills by liquefying the internal organs. The body literally dissolves as the victim writhes in pain bleeding from every orifice.

Pianka is always keen to stress that his views are not race specific and that he wants to see 90% of all races exterminated. He is quoted as saying "We need to sterilize everybody on the earth and make the antidote freely available to anyone willing to work for it".

Pianka was presented with a distinguished scientist award by the Texas Academy of Science in 2006. Pianka is no crackpot. He has given lectures to prestigious universities worldwide. His chilling comments, and their often enthusiastic reception , again underscore the elite's agenda to enact horrifying measures of population control.

Dr Pianka's comments are merely echoes of the elite lust for a Malthusian social Darwinist control mechanism. They wish to use the excuse of having to "save the earth" in order to take away freedom and implement a massive authoritarian control grid.

These views have also been famously perpetuated by control freaks such as Ted Turner, Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Prince Philip.

"The simplest answer is that the world's population should be about two billion, and we've got about six billion now," Turner told E Magazine, an environmentalist publication. Turner went even further in an interview with Audubon magazine, stating that "A total world population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."

In a 1991 interview with the UNESCO Courier, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the famous Emmy award winning film producer who went on to be a kingpin of the environmental movement said, "It's terrible to have to say this. World population must be stabilized and to do that we must eliminate 350,000 people per day."

That works out to 127,750,000 people per year, and 1.27 billion people over 10 years.

In the foreword to his 1986 book If I Were an Animal, Prince Philip wrote, "In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, in order to contribute something to solve overpopulation."

The elite are very concerned about their noble effort to cull the population for the "greater good". Throughout history elites have invented justification for barbaric practices as a cover for their true agenda of absolute power and control over populations. Up until the 19th century, the transatlantic slave trade was justified by saying that the practice was biblical and therefore morally redeemable in nature, despite the fact that no such bible passage exists.

Today the control mechanism is the continued perpetuation of the myth that humanity is killing the planet. Elite organisations such as the Bilderberg Group, CFR, Trilateral Commission, and their think tanks like the Club of Rome are engaged in selling this myth to the masses .

In a report titled The First Global Revolution (1991) published by the Club of Rome, a globalist think tank whose members have included Kissinger, David Rockefeller and Al Gore, we find the following statement:

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.... All these dangers are caused by human intervention... The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

In the past, the Club of Rome has resorted to deceptive tactics in order to support their plans. In 1972, the Club of Rome, along with an MIT team released a report called Limits to growth . The report stated that we were to reach an environmental holocaust by the year 2000 due to overpopulation and other environmental problems. Support for their conclusions was gathered by results from a computer model. Aurelio Peccei, one of the founders of the Club of Rome, later confessed that the computer program had been written to give the desired results.

Why is this so concerning? Because groups such as the Club of Rome are contracted out by our own governments and the UN to prepare 'Policy Guidance Documents' which they use in formulating their policies and programs. How come the Club of Rome gets the gig? Simply because many high ranking UN and government officials are also CoR members, or have direct corporate ties to members. The same goes for the CFR and the Trilateral Commission.

A recently unearthed documentary that sought to expose this agenda at its inception is George Hunt's excellent research piece on the environmental movement.

After the fall of the Nazis, top eugenicists were protected by the allies as the victorious parties fought over who would enjoy their "expertise" in the post-war world.

The comments of elitists alive today who openly advocate "culling" the human population by means of mass genocide, plagues and viruses are also considered alongside Aldous Huxley's warning that ruling oligarchies would use advanced techniques of medicine and pharmacology to ensure the human population "enjoy their servitude".

Endgame rips wide open how the myth of man-made global warming is being hyped by the establishment in order to create new feudalist control methods and convince people that their every action should be regulated by the state in the interests of supposedly saving the planet, while the real environmental crises go ignored.

The doomsday warning of the population bomb consistently referred to as justification for depopulation is also complete pseudo-science. Populations in developed countries are declining and only in third world countries is it expanding dramatically. Industrialization itself levels out population trends and even despite this world population models routinely show that the earth's population will level out at 9 billion in 2050 and slowly decline after that. "The population of the most developed countries will remain virtually unchanged at 1.2 billion until 2050," states a United Nations report. The UN population policies seem to be in direct contradiction to THEIR OWN FINDINGS.

Conservation International's own study revealed that 46% of the earth's surface was an untouched wilderness, that is land areas not including sea. It is commonly accepted that the entire world population could all fit into the state of Texas and each have an acre of their own land.

Once a country industrializes there is an average of a 1.6 child rate per household, so the western world population is actually in decline. That trend has also been witnessed in areas of Asia like Japan and South Korea. The UN has stated that the population will peak at 9 billion and then begin declining.

Even if you buy into the propaganda that climate change is caused by man in the face of the facts , and then buy into the propaganda that there are too many people on the planet in the face of the facts, can you justify advocating state micro management of your life down to how many children you are allowed to have? Furthermore, can you justify programs of sterilization?

We are being bombarded daily with idiotic notions that the human race and life itself is a virus that has spread all over the planet and that we must consider stemming our own progression to counter it.

Meanwhile, as we ludicrously debate culling ourselves, real environmental problems are doing the job for us. Genetically modified garbage is poisoning our very food supply, chemical pollutants are flowing into our water supplies, the disappearance of huge swathes of the bee populations across the world is threatening crop production, deforestation, toxic waste dumping, the list goes on. All these real important issues are being buried in a sea a frothing bullshit.

Every time the issue of climate change is raised the we are told that the solution is more taxes and more extreme control over our lives. These things will not reverse the effects of climate change, which has been proven to be a thoroughly natural cycle of our planet since the dawn of time. Instead they will do everything to grease the skids for draconian taxation and control measures that will aid the construction of the prison planet that the elite have planned all along.
