One phone number for life

I recently wrote an article about this new FREE phone service for talentspeaks.com. You get one phone number that will ring all your phones at once. Great for bands, groups of artists, and all sorts of other aplications. Really cool stuff!

Philanthropy on a budget: YOU can make a difference

When I was in San Francisco last weekend on a business trip, a small speech was given by the president of kiva.org, and I learned about an awesome way I can make a difference in the world. I can be a philanthropist without having to donate $1 million $!

Kiva is a micro-finance organization which lends small sums of money to entrepreneurs in other countries where the American dollar goes very far. Though it would be difficult to make a huge difference here in the US financially, I (and you) can make a tremendous difference abroad. The money you put in is actually a 0% loan to help a budding foreign entrepreneur get his or her business off the ground. You can review each entrepreneur in need of funding and choose to fund projects you personally believe in.

I have invested in four individuals so far, and I can easily track their progress through the Kiva site. When I get repayment from any given entrepreneur I will roll that back into a new project. I strongly encourage you to find a Kiva.org project you believe in and invest. It is so cake, you simply pay through paypal; it could not be any easier. And you can invest as little as $25. You would not even miss $25, but it can make a tremendous difference to someone abroad. And by investing in an entrepreneur you are helping create infrastructure in another country (the old saying about teaching a man to fish rahter than giving him fish comes to mind).

Kicking artist: Echo

As I have been working on this artistic friend expansion here on myspace I have seen some amazing work. There are so many talented individuals here. It struck me as I was marveling at art by a particular artist this evening that I should take time to call out some good artists. I wish I had the time to recognize everybody.. but for now I will start here:

Echo

Echo is a talented illustrator from my neck of the woods, Florida. She shares my taste in subject matter and her execution is brilliant. Go visit her myspace page. And if you dig it, buy a t-shirt or something. I just ordered mine...

Expanding Artistic Network

I have big things going on. As an artist I've spent many years struggling. I used to think you just had to make great art and the rest would just work itself out. I've learned the hard way that one has to develop many other skills to succeed. And I want to help other artists learn and improve in the fine art of self promotion.

To that end, I recently got involved in a new project. It is under wraps at the moment, but the project goal and my personal goal is to aid artists in taking things to the next level. So until I can unveil it, I am making as many artist friends as possible here. And soon I will be calling out to the community to become a part of this exciting project. I look forward to all of our success!
