April Fool’s Day
Current mood: amused
Category: Life

Our cast:

Susan:  Longtime friend.  Made fun of my little rat episode.  Victim number 1.

Vicky:  Loves to reorganize everyone else’s stuff, because only she knows the proper way to do things.  Victim number 2.

Stacey:  Germaphobe. Victim number 3.

A little history:

A few weeks ago I had an unexpected house guest.  (Please take note of this if you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.)  Down the street from Sydney and my house they have been doing some roadwork.  One Saturday night, I get up to go to the bathroom.  The little voice in my head tells me I should turn the light on this time.  I am half awake, but I comply.  I turn the light on and lift the lid.  (Yes ladies.  I ALWAYS put the seat down.:p)  There in the bowl is a rat.  Not a mouse, but a full size rat.  I jumped back to grab my pellet gun.  (Instantly awake now.)  He escaped the bowl.  To make a long story short; several nights of sleeplessness as he was a night mover and I could not convince him to try one of the traps.  Finally he was tempted by the ultimate temptation, Hershey’s chocolate.  I heard the trap snap.  Grabbed my pellet gun and put 2 mercy shots into him.  I had originally thought he appeared big, because I was only partially awake when I saw him.  After seeing him this time I realized he was around 8 inches long not counting his tail.  He had swam up the sewer to get away from the construction.  Think about that the next time you go potty at night.  God was watching out for me that night.  Otherwise he may have bitten me in a very uncomfortable area.

History part 2:

Several months ago, the office above ours had a toilet overflow used toilet water into our office.  Most notably into our resident gremaphobes office.  She of course totally freaked.  I remember things like this.;)

Now, on with the story.

March 31, 2008:

I went ot the office around 9PM.  Our office computers were bought from the same company about the same time.  Needless to say they look very similar on the outside.  But, we are able to customize them to suit our individual needs.  I decided to switch Vicky’s precious baby with Susan’s desktop.  I also took everyone’s favorite fake rat and placed it in Susan’s candy drawer.  Here is phase 1 of the ingenuity:  I tied string to the rat and to a thumbtack which I then attached to the inside top portion of her drawer.  This was rigged so that when she opened the drawer the string would pull taut and the rat would appear to "run" to the back of the drawer.  When she closed the drawer and opened it again the rat would be there again and flee once again.  Phase 2:  I came home, made some tea, put it in a foam cup and placed it in the refridgerator.

April 1, 2008

Susan and Vicky immediately notice that thier icons are gone, only to be replaced by others. And so it begins.  I was not responsible for Vicky’s mouse being taped to her desk or her pens being glued to the bottom of the pen cup.  But, the confusion on her face regarding her computer was priceless.  Susan began to show fear, because she knew I had been busy.  She jumped a tad when she found the rat, but had the good sense to keep it quiet so she could pull the prank on others.  But, back to the tea.  I took a new foam cup and drove a hypodermic needle through the bottom of the cup.  Caulked aroung the needle and pushed the needle through some styrofoam.  thereby attacjed the caulked cup to the piece of styrofoam.  I removed the bottom of the foam from the cup with the now tea ice in it and placed this cup sans bottom into the cup with the needle in the bottom.  While Stacey was seeing patient’s in the hospital, I remved one of her ceiling tiles, drove the needle through the ceiling tile and replaced the tile where the needle was strategically placed over her desk.  As the day would go on the ice would melt, go down the needle and drip on her desk.  This way the tile would not be damaged and the flow would be basically controlled.  There were some technical difficulties as the tea had a tendency to clog up and we had to sneak back to her office while she was in the front of the office to open the needle.  Also the caulk did not dry sufficiently, so our tile is a little dicolored, but this SO added to the effect.  It took all day.  slow drips that she did not notice, BUT!!

April 1, 2008.  3:30PM

I am working with a patient in one of the front rooms.  Even though the door is closed, I hear from the back of the office "THERE’S POOP DRIPPING IN MY OFFICE!!!" This is followed by LOTS of laughter.  Stacey yells, "NOT AGAIN!!"  More laughter.  She gets mad.  "You guys.  This isn’t funny."  More laughter.  I had told everyone in the office what I was doing, so no one would call maintenance.  Now, everyone is in hysterics.  Stacey because brown water is dripping on her desk and everyone else because of her response to the new toxic rain.  She was getting angry with them and everyone was laughing too hard that they could not tell her it was a joke.  Finally Ronnie removed the tile to show her the cup on top of the tile.

And yes, she is still mad at me.

Here I am
Current mood: optimistic
Category: Writing and Poetry

Here I Am

Beauty does not belong in this world.
Appearance is a sham.
All is fake and duplicitous.
Why do even try?
Truth in pleasantries does not exist.

Here I am.
I am beauty.
I refuse to be marred by the ugliness of the world.

Love is false.
It is a road to ruin.
Manipulation is the ultimate goal.
Kindness is responded with cruelty.
It betrays weakness.

Here I am.
I am love.
My strength will carry you through any trial.

Peace will not be found.
Strife rules this world.
Anger, resentment, jealousy.
These are the new virtues taught to all.
Contentment can only be found in death.

Here I am.
I am Peace.
I am waiting patiently for your embrace.

Happiness is fleeting.
Joy can only be found at the expense of others.
Laughter must be bought.
Degradation of someone else is what makes us giggle.
What is there to laugh about anyway?

Here I am.
I am happiness.
I am found in understanding of self.

Hope is lost.
It is something for children and the ignorant.
Despair is the only certainty.
Attempts to make a brighter day are exercises in futility.
Tomorrow promises nothing more than more difficulties.

Here I am.
I am Hope.
I will not be denied.

In Defense of the Elder
Current mood: determined

In Defense of the Elder

Your parables have taught us many things.
There are no limits to your boundless power.
A multitude of meanings, many truths to sing.
If only we could reflect for more than a single hour.

So many times we have heard the story of the Prodigal Son.
A story of redemption and a Father's love.
It is the Elder that most choose to shun.
But what if we miss some of the meaning from above?

The characters of this story are a part of each of us.
We all can play the different parts of the story well.
The lessons of judging and forgiveness we will not discuss.
My journey follows a slightly different trail.

It is difficult to ask for forgiveness, but it is harder to forgive.
Would the Prodigal have been so loving had he not lost?
Why do we rebuke the Elder for not taking the chance to live?
Would the Father have been more understanding knowing the Elder's cost?

Too often the Elder is condemned for his jealousy and spite.
And yet, as I read this story I see it as a statement of fact.
The Elder was hurt more and seems eager to avoid a fight.
It is his wounds of neglect and disrespect that seems intact.

I have heard many times that the Elder stayed out of responsibility.
I have searched and cannot see where this is stated.
It is too hard for us to see Love as his reason and ability?
Why are we so ready to see him degraded?

Does duty drive me to Church on Sunday morn?
Am I "supposed" to make my appearance?
Why then did I jump at my opportunityto be reborn?
I do not think we give the Elder a chance.

We are the Prodigal Son, for we all carry sin.
We are the Elder and must learn to forgive.
We are the Father, but is this where it ends?
The Elder seems cheated of his chance to live.

My Lord seems to leave this story open.
Perhaps we are left to finish the tale.
His parables carry more than one lesson.
We cannot find somethings too hard and bail.

Perhaps, as the Father, we should learn to appreciate.
There are so many in our lives that we take for granted.
And it is more than a remembrance on a special date.
If we could only see the others that make our world enchanted.

I see us congratulate those when they are risen up to sing.
But, what about in everyday life as we go?
It is easy to say thank you when we receive something.
But, what about those that are helpers in our show?

The Elder did not feel the love that was expressed to the Prodigal Son.
It was there, but the Father did not understand the need.
So, I see the Elder and I choose not to shun.
He is in pain for unnoticed deeds.

I seek tomorrow to find my Elder in all those that touch me,
And show them love and appreciation.
Perhaps they will in turn take the time to see
Those that touch them. We can start a revolution.

A prayer for Judas and Pilate

A Prayer of Thanks

Branded a traitor and condemned for for what you had done.
Actions that had to happen, no matter the pain.
Knowing your entire life you would be shunned
I fail to see what you had to gain.

You are too easily manipulated. You are weak.
You had the power to release with a word.
And yet at this moment you were meek
And allowed the death of our Lord.

Here and now I say thank you from a Christian and sinner.
Without your actions My salvation would be lost.
Your legacy could not be thinner.
But, I for one appreciate what this cost.

New Poem

The Mosaic Soul

Such an awesome soul.

Shattered, yet beautiful.

Broken and battered,

But creating a masterpiece in its strength.

Each piece telling a chapter

In a tragic story.

From a distance it is physically beautiful.

Upon closer inspection

One can see the power

That binds the facets together.

We are born complete.

Chipped away as life progresses.

Until we become a mosaic

Of what we once were.

What is the grout that binds?

Love?

Friends?

Determination?

Hate and Anger lose there hold.

They cannot last.

A pallette made of wood.

Taken from Christ's Tree.

Upon it lay the pieces.

Bound together by:

Love

Hope

Friends

Family

Laughter

Set by Faith

Sealed with Prayer

Wondrous beauty made

Unbreakable by His Love.

MySpace Spammers
Current mood: chipper
Category: Writing and Poetry

We all get these messages and friend requests.  Kind of a staple for the MySpace experience.  This is my first attempt at humor, so please bear with me.

Ode to a Spammer

Oh Dear, please give it a rest
And would you please be so kind;
While it is nice, I care little for your breast.
Share with me a piece of your mind and not your behind.

I am sure you are willing to show me your dimple,
But I am afraid the intercourse I seek is more cerebral.
While your body may be an erotic temple,
It is the mind that is a beautiful cathedral.

You seem to be quite proud of your derriere.
And it may draw interest with the help of more rum,
But what good is it when the head is full of air
And all of your dreams rest on your bum.

I am sure those that read this will think of me a prude.
I assure you this is far from the case.
I just think such blatant displays are rather crude
And I guess I am rather selective about the tail I chase.

In closing, I hope you see that your honor I defend
From someone I fear would be much more crass.
I doubt to those depths I will ever descend,
As to be wholly fixated on your..........body.

Merry Christmas mothers
Current mood: loved
Category: Writing and Poetry

To Mom

Within the heart of a mother lies love.
Caring so deep to be palpable.
She is always there when push comes to shove.
How is it that she is capable?
A true heart of gold.

A hug to console all of the world's woes.
A kiss to heal anything that hurts.
Smiles flow from the love that she shows.
A shining light for all she comforts.
Compassion so bold.

There is no wound she cannot overcome
With her caring and her undying love.
We often neglect these angels that; from
God's wondrous home; decend from above.
A soul never cold.

Unconditional love, a gift so rare.
Someone who believes in you always.
Her only wish is no grief should you bear.
Take care to heed ev'ry word she says.
Feelings never sold.

So to mothers throughout this wide world;
Heartfelt thanks from a son that is proud,
To call my mom the most precious of pearls.
Thanks be to God for what He allowed.
Loving hands to hold.

For a new friend

The Path

Wandering through the twisted paths of life.
Which trail should be taken on this road?
How to avoid the path that leads to strife?
Too much burden to add t othis load.
To know who you are.

A new day dawns enlightening the way.
Complex questions reveal deep desires.
No longer wandering, for now to stay
True to thyself for what we aspire.
We can go so far.

Freedom of spirit cannot be contained.
An inspiration to ev'ry life,
For which thy soothing touch has been obtained.
A blessing to he who calls her wife.
To reach for that star.

Nature itself feels her passion and love.
How she shows caring beyond belief.
A soul takes flight in the form of a dove.
Her healing can bring so much relief.
She has come so far.

Duality of nature, her appeal.
The best of both worlds in one host.
The most wondrou gift we have is to feel,
To be touched by such grace.  She should boast.
She has caught her star.

And now for something completely different
Current mood: touched
Category: Writing and Poetry

Check it out.  Haiku.

Intimate knowledge.
How was I supposed to know?
Friendship undying.

A new friend, soulmates.
Where have you been, all this time?
New lives intertwined.

Peace unfolds anew.
Where will this future lead us?
Heaven awaits us.

Friends walk together.
Our steps lead ever onward.
Angels fly with us.

Passionate dreams shared.
Exposing souls completely.
I have no fear here.

Gabriel
Thanks for the inspiration, my dear.

An angel sat down
Current mood: thankful
Category: Writing and Poetry

Today my daughter and I were enjoying a beautiful day.  I began think about her and our place in the world.  Here are some of my thoughts.

An Angel sat Down

An angel sat down beside me.
I basked in her innocent glow.
Contentment rested upon my weary shoulders.
Her small hand reached out for me to hold.

In her eyes, I could see the future.
Written on her face, without a trace of fear
were promises of things I thought lost.
One thing stood out above the rest.  Hope was there.

The hand of God lifts my spirit.
I begin to thank Him for causing my worries to cease.
He sends this precious red-haired angel down.
She has given me the most wonderful gift. Peace.

Will I ever be able to repay what I have received?
What do I do to earn this gift from above?
The answer is so simple for all of us.
The only thing that is asked from us is Love.

Gabriel

We often overlook the most simple answers to the most complex questions.
