studio session

A big hello to whoever decides to read this i know its been a while since we have communicated with anyone from the outside world but we have been very busy working on the new album, and i can tell you its all sounding amazing. The one problem we do have is that we have written too many songs, 20 to be precise. We are producing them all up to the same level so when it comes to deciding what is going to make the album we will probably fall out and sulk like children, but what ever songs dont get on the album we will make sure they are released at some point so theres nothing to worry about. Anyway at the moment i have Noicey standing behind me playing his beloved Moog, hes been here 2 days this week putting down basslines along with Smiley on drums and we had the pleasure of Mr Harris yesterday with his guitars, who not only played as great as always (although he can never remember what he had just played so you have to record everything) but made a mighty fine Rissoto at the end of the session. Tonight Dave is coming up from southampton to start early tomorrow. Pollard has been here most of the week although hes suffering jet lag after arriving back from the states on monday but seems to be getting back to his normal self which i think is a good thing. We are currently in a south london studio but moving to one in east london on monday where Maria will be joining us again which is always a pleasure as she always brightens a day no matter what. Right im boring myself so im going to let someone else ramble on. Take care Danny
Hellooooo.. This is Smiley.. Danny asked me to do the blog 2 hours ago after he started it.. As you can see once he starts he just cant stop! Anyway ..briefly... Its been fantastic seeing everyone again.. and the main thing I have noticed is that everyone has lost weight.. We are half the band we used to be.. The songs are sounding amazing. Everyone has a smile on their face.. We have played, eaten, written and slept together this week.. All in all if Archive was a colour this week it would be a joyous purple with just a hint of crimson.. Its all good in the colourful world of the Chives.. Big love and love big! SMILEY XXX
Ladies and gentlemen. We are in sound, recording beautiful moments and capturing tension. Considering our location in London, Brixton, famous for its artistic and cultural diversity, we are in the right place for tension. All hell could break out at any given moment. It nearly has done the past couple of days. Who'd have thought that such a facility like this should exist in London? We are cocooned in a residential recording complex which frankly could be in the middle of the countryside. There is residential accommodation in the form of a typically English Victorian house. It's even kitted out with an AGA oven in which Danny has perfected his baked potatoes and where we will stash Smiley if he doesn't change the ringtone on his phone. Large things have a habit of fitting small places when they're chopped up. Ashes to ashes. Once the Mongolian throat singing has been tracked the Archive circus will decamp across the channel to Paris where the diamond will be polished and compressed and ready for pressing. So, be patient. Tell your friends the circus is coming to town. Be good, Jonathan.

No. 2 in Eclipsed Magazine Top 50 CDs of 2007!

Just when we thought the New Year's celebrations were over, we received the fantastic news that Archive's live album, 'Live At The Zenith', has been voted No.2 in Eclipsed Magazine's Top 50 CDs of 2007!

More good news is that the album artwork, featuring a fantastic shot by photographer Julian Hayr, was also voted No.2 in the magazine's Top 10 Most Beautiful Album Covers of 2007!

Released in 2007, 'Live At The Zenith' received rave reviews, with Rolling Stone hailing it as "One of the best live shows ever put on CD" .

Not much blogging

Hello people sorry there has'nt been much blogging action but it was all very quiet for a while as people, band, management etc went away to get themselves together for what will no doubt be a very busy and productive year, but its all back to writing now and for me enjoying the streets of Paris for the next week, there will be more to say soon. Morning of the 15th; Archive session

Well hello
I am sorry we've been a bit quiet with our blogging the last few days its just been very hectic getting as much music done as possible before we finish tomorrow. Things have gone amazingly, Maria has shone as always on 3 tracks. The boys have been there usual entertaining and creative selves, we have hired some incredible old school keyboards which Darius has been virtually masturbating over so im not touching them and feel sorry for the person who has to handle them tomorrow. Pollards voice is better than ever, Dave was not involved in this session but we are back in next year for another few weeks. Everything is sounding fucking great. Studio and the children!

Hey. Its my turn today. In studio today with Darius, Danny, Pollard, Julian and our lovely Jerome who's come over from France to be with us. Hooray!! We've recorded three tracks. Its great to be in the studio again. Havent seen the rest of the boys as they've been in on different days. Pollard and the boys...yes the boys...are currently being very silly messing about with Pollards computer so Im blogging to get away from the silliness!! Darius is distracting me pulling stupid faces so Im coming off the compuer now!!! Blame him.........

Mid life crisis maybe. His drumming is exceptional today so carry on bleaching. Julian our photographer is looking a touch dandy of course. I want to say that our co producer jerome is really doing some impressive programinrg today and we are certainly making some fucked up noises. Noycee has some secrets to tell you all about some sudding shit. Maria has been tied up in a school gym, so id better go and help her. We have nearly finished about eight songs already and are going to the next stage of production with them. love and hate, Darius.

Archive Studio: Day 5

Album is going well, quite dark. Still can't believe how shit Mika is. Dave, Mickey, love ya. Love the Moog, it will always rule especially when John plays it. Harris learn those fucking chords. We look a bit like the Eagles at the moment and i fucking hate the Eagles man. Pollards sunk to the nuts but singing well. Sudder udders. Lots of love and hate, Darius.
