There are not enough swears in English.
Current mood: how massive failures feel
So funny story, blog readers/accidental clickers -
Turns out that when I was registering for classes a few weeks ago, there was an uh-oh that I didn't notice. Managed to sign up for Japanese just dandy, but English didn't get onto the sheet.
I didn't notice until TODAY. Class for me starts TOMORROW. Naturally all the seats in the English classes are FULL AS HELL.
So basically I'll be stuck in college for the next two years.
I am incredibly depressed.

A sad day for music geeks
Current mood: sad
Luciano Pavarotti went to the great opera house in the sky today. I know I'll miss him and his magic voice.
Somehow, "The Two Tenors" doesn't quite cut it...

Dear various gods, don’t eat at Boston’s
Current mood: annoyed
We tend to eat at Boston's about once a month. This is for two reasons and two reasons only - first off, it's open relatively late, and it's also close to the house.
Unfortunately, the food sucks ass.
My sister and I made the mistake of sharing an appetizer sampler and ordering side salads. NOTHING on that plate was good, with the possible exception of the chicken wings (even those were dry and bland). The rest was a congealed horrorshow of cheese and nasty bread products and what I can only assume was grease running in fear. On top of this the waiter neglected to write down that we had ordered salads. He eventually brought them out, but failed to notice I was out of water for at least thirty minutes. Also, the order was called out three times before a DIFFERENT waiter came and took it to the table. To top it off, my Mojito was mostly water. I felt queasy after finishing my "meal".
I searched in vain for comment cards (pretty sneaky, Boston's), and in the end I settled for writing this down on the receipt:
Service was lukewarm This food tastes like fried sadness I will not be back
That's right, ladies and gents. I wrote a fucking haiku. I was that mad.
The trick, of course, is to not go back there, despite how close to the house and open late it may be.

Daaaaaay Tripper, One Way Ticket Yeah
Current mood: cheerful
Yesterday I took a trip down to Seattle with two of my buddies from the workplace (no prizes for guessing who if you work with me). Damn it was fun. First off we stopped at the Alderwood mall and checked out one of the other (more successful) Daiso branches. Got a few ideas for the store here. After that we trucked on down to Redmond for some kaiten sushi (sushi on a conveyor belt, for all you english speakers), which was delicious and surprisingly inexpensive. The highlights were some very delicious mackerel, anago, unagi, and some sort of as-yet-unidentified fried cephalopod. Oishikatta! Our next stop was Kinokuniya bookstore inside Uwajimaya. Picked up three bitchin books: Yotsubato #4 (in Japanese), a study guide for the JLPT, and a paperback All About Capcom artbook/canon guide. To say I am pleased with these is the understatement of the century. Next on the to-do list was boba tea! I got an avocado smoothie with pearls and a slice of tiramisu which I shared with the girls (it WAS Andrea's birthday, after all). We drove back to Alderwood mall to pick up Stephanie's car, and meet Andrea's mom for some celebratory birthday shopping. I hit Victoria's Secret Semi-Annual Sale for some goodies. No, you can't see them. Ew. We got kinda hungry and picked up some eats from Kidd Valley in the food court. The garlic fries are DIVINE. Then we called it a day, and chit-chatted about Dave & Busters, Godzilla movies, karaoke, and being a gaijin all the way home. At my house Andrea and I watched a little Metalocalypse. All in all, this was a day trip for the history books - or at the very least, my humble Myspace blog.

hiss hiss
Current mood: contemplative
Today as I was walking home from school, I saw a little snake. It was not a very happy little snake. It was ice cold and trying desperately to warm itself up on the street, and his body was all strange and lumpy like it was injured. Now, since I had seen another snake smashed on the road recently, I wanted to spare this one from crushing four wheeled death. And so it was that I picked up that little snake and tucked him into my sweater pocket, and took him home with me to warm him up. He seemed to perk up a bit so I put him outside by the blackberry bush in the sun.
I was telling Allison about it later that day, and I went out to check on the snake. It was still there, but this time it looked very unhappy. It was all limp and weak, and still icy cold. So I took him inside again, and put him in our spare terrarium with a hot water bottle and hoped for the best. But he didn't make it. We laid him to rest in a hollow under a concrete block under the porch. I wish I could have done more for the poor little snake. I'm still pretty torn up about it.
What did I learn? I learned that I can't stand to see animals suffer, and that I have absolutely no qualms about picking up slithery things.
But oh man do I wish I could have done more for that little snake.

finally, a use....
Current mood: enraged
...for all that pent up rage I've been saving here and there throughout my lifetime. I was made (actually it's my own fault, but i'll get to it) to look rather foolish in front of my Japanese class today. This is entirely my fault for not studying but i am still mad. Madder than hell, actually. But this time i used my anger to finish my large pile of homework that i had in order to not look foolish tomorrow.
Doesn't really sound so amazing, I know. But when I realized I could use my rage for my own benefit, I felt empowered. I could almost feel the "TEN" symbol burning into my back <= This was for you Jones.
EDIT - I just remembered that today I got some good news too - my dear Dr. Zoidberg (who you can see in my pictures) successfully molted and came back up today. Mazel Tov, Zoidy boy!
