More Summer Festivals

Dear Friends,

It's been a really exciting summer so far touring and writing new songs. I would just like to thank you all for the kind support and feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed performing at Glastonbury, such a great atmosphere and what a lovely crowd, thank you! I'm so happy people liked the new songs and gave us such lovely and enthusiastic feedback. Then we headed off to Athens for the gig at the Kipotheatro Papagou Festival were people gave us such a warm welcome; it was a magical evening we'll never forget so thank you all for making our first performance in Athens so special.

Another few gigs coming up...I will be performing in London next week at The Watch This Space festival on July 31st at the Southbank as part of the National Theatre summer festival. You can find out more information here. Then we head off to Greece again; on August 2nd I will be performing at the Sani Festival (which is about an hour from Thessaloniki in the north) and on August 4th on the gorgeous Greek island of Astypalaia, in the Aegean sea, staged in an ancient castle on the top of the island.

I hope to see you at one of our summer gigs! Stay tuned on My Space for the latest news.

Have a lovely summer!

Glastonbury and Greek Tour Dates

Dear Friends,

I have been extremely busy over the last few weeks with rehearsing and preparing for my Glastonbury and Athens performances with my band. I have also just come back from Chris Difford's writing retreat in Italy where I've been writing new songs; it was so inspiring - I also met great writers like Marti Pellow (Wet Wet Wet) and wrote a song with him, and Vivien Scotson who's an amazing singer songwriter – but more on this another time!

I am really looking forward to my next two gigs and feel extremely honoured and excited to be playing at the legendary Glastonbury Festival on June 29th on the Acoustic Stage ( http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/performance.aspx?id=2179 ) with my band. Especially with the great Joan Baez and other amazing artists like Suzanne Vega performing on the same stage on Sunday! And the great Leonard Cohen is performing on Sunday too, which I wouldn't miss for the world. He's been such an inspiration.

I'm so happy that I will be performing in Athens at the opening night of the festival of the Kipotheatro Papagou Festival on July 2nd! I've been looking forward to performing in Athens and am happy to announce that I will also be joined onstage by a very special guest and friend on the piano, George Andreou. You can still buy tickets from various outlets in Athens and online (in Athens: "Eleftheroudakis" bookstores, ACS Courier, "Herakleidon" museum, Tickethouse (Panepistimiou 42), Public (Platia Sintagmatos), Dimarxio Papagou and online at: www.ticketquest.gr (http://ticketquest.gr/Default.aspx) and www.ticketpro.gr (http://www.ticketpro.gr/main.php).
On July 1st, the evening before the gig, I will be signing autographs and chatting to you guys at the Public store in Athens (Platia Sintagmatos) at 8pm and may be performing a couple of songs acoustically on my own as well.

Just to remind you I will also be playing the Watch This Space Festival at the Southbank on July 31st. Whilst on August 2nd I will be performing at the gorgeous Sani Festival and on August 4th on the beautiful Greek island of Astypalaia, in the middle of the Aegean sea.

I hope to see you there at one of our summer gigs! stay tuned on My Space (http://www.myspace.com/athenaandreadis) for more booking details as they will be posted there as soon as they come in.

If you haven't yet seen the video footage of my performance at The Pigalle Club, then you can watch them at my You Tube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/athenaandreadis) or clicking the following links, Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNpCxMsW2I8) (For This Love Affair and Bubbles) and Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_zrOipkyzg) (You Leave Tomorrow).

Dear Friends,

The time has finally come! I am so excited that the My Music documentary I've been talking about for so long, is FINALLY going to be on TV this Sunday, Channel 5, at 11.00. You will see lots of familiar faces - Tom, Werner, Ben - and a few special guests like the great Geoff Martyn who flew in for a surprise appearance on Shades Of Grey, and joined us on Pretty Things as well - and Ben Trigg with his exquisite cello playing!

For those of you who aren't UK based, you can get a 6 minute taste of the documentary on You Tube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3bL89IiSO0.
Hopefully the whole documentary will be available for all of you to see soon. Will let you know when I know more!

Album out Monday Apr 7, Radio 2 Session & Channel 5 Trailer
Category: Music

Dear Friends,

I have just uploaded the video trailer for the Channel 5 My Music Documentary to my My Space page and You Tube for you to watch. Or alternatively you can watch it below or click the following link - www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3bL89IiSO0. You will be able to catch the full documentary on Channel 5 in the UK on April 20th at 11am. If you want to find out more about the documetary series click www.myspace.com/channelfiveculture .

I am also very excited about Monday, April 7th, for two reasons. Firstly, you will be able to buy the new version of my album ’Breathe With Me’, which includes two new tracks, ’For This Love Affair’ & ’This Life’ from iTunes (worldwide), Amazon UK and in all good UK stores. For those of you who have already bought the album, don’t worry – you can just buy the tracks from iTunes. I have also ensured that the new version of the album is more environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of packaging needed as well as using recycled paper for the album sleeve and booklet.

And secondly, I will also be performing a live acoustic session with Tom Mason and Werner Kristiansen for Janice Long on BBC Radio 2. The session will be going out live on Monday 7th April during Janice’s show from 00:20-01:00. For those who may miss it or are outside the UK you will be able to listen to it online at the BBC Radio 2 website for one week after the session date.

Finally, just a quick reminder that I will be performing at the lovely Pigalle Club in London on April 29th with the band! Please book now if you want to get a table. For more information please visit www.thepigalle.co.uk or call 0845 345 6053 to make a reservation. You can also book tickets at www.seetickets.com (tel: 0870 166 0424). Really looking forward to the gig - should be great fun and wonderful to see you guys again!

Anyway, hope you enjoy the trailer and hope to see you at The Pigalle, and will be in touch again soon.

Love and peace,

Athena News: Gig at the Pigalle Club, Channel 5 Documentary & ’Breathe With Me’
Current mood: excited
Category: Music

Dear Friends,

It's been a really busy start to the year for me - sorry to have been silent for a while. I have some really great news to share with you!

The documentary that I've been working on has been scheduled for airing in the UK on Channel 5 in April. It's part of a series called My Music, which also features the wonderful artists Seth Lakeman, Kate Rusby and Eliza Carthy. They will start to go out on Channel 5 at the beginning of April, and mine will broadcast on April 20th. I'm really excited that this has all come together - I will let you know more details when I have them.

I am also very happy to let you know that I'll be performing at The Pigalle in London on April 29th with the band - expect some favourites, as well as some brand new songs I've written recently!

Here is a direct link to The Pigalle site www.thepigalle.co.uk and there is an e-flyer up on the MySpace www.myspace.com/athenaandreadis and is also available here, feel free to send it around!

The other great news is that we will be re-releasing "Breathe With Me (Bonus Track Version)" on April 7th, to coincide with the documentary series going out - and I have included 2 brand new recordings on it - "For This Love Affair" and "This Life". You may have heard them live, and now here they are on the album. For those of you who have already bought the album, don't worry – the bonus tracks will be up on iTunes and other digital sites to buy separately if you prefer, so you don't have to buy the whole album (unless you want to of course!)

I hope you see you at The Pigalle, and will be in touch again soon.

Love and peace,
Athena
