hey guys, well i went and messed myself up pretty good here, we were playing a show in madison, wisconsin, at a great club, high noon saloon, and we were ending the show, standing on the bar and singing a song...when the song was over we all started stepping down from the bar and i just landed on my feet a little weird...maybe i slipped on a wet spot, im not really sure, but regardless, i hurt myself pretty bad...ended up at the hospital, and had some stitches put in...i fractured part of my pelvis as well...definitely very painful, but everythings alright...im on one crutch now, and walkin round really well and feeling good... so we're jumping back on the road starting tomorrow morning, we're keeping our college shows at gettysburg university, and at florida state university...unfortunately, i have a few doctor visits i have to make during the week following the college shows, so we have no choice but to cancel a few of the dates we had posted for next week, the first show we're gonna jump back on with ONEREPUBLIC is in san francisco, ca...and then its off to the races, back to the norm...so i just wanted to lend a SINCERE sincere apology to ANYONE who bought tickets to our headlining gigs or to the onerepublic shows expecting to see us...i know that all the apologies and promises of future shows will never makeup for our absence...i know first hand how incredibly annoying and frustrating it is to make plans weeks and weeks ahead of time and then some asshole like me has to go and get injured and now we can't make it to the show...listen, i REALLY REALLY understand, i can vividly remember being pretty young and wanting to see one of my favorite bands at the time...and we showed up and the billboard said the show was cancelled...it was so infuriating and i felt betrayed by the band, the music...i never wanted to hear a lick of their songs ever again, and never have, i learned later that the guy had food poisoning, i didnt care, it was too late to make up for it, now i was OBVIOUSLY over-reacting at the time and was way too upset for what the situation really called for, but regardless, i just want to explain to anyone who's reading this and isn't sure how i feel about canceling shows, to understand that it almost makes me feel physically sick...to be physically unable to follow thru on a commitment that we've made to you, is painful and hands down the number one thing that this band holds near and dear to us...i really truly hope that you guys can understand and forgive us for throwing you off and not following thru when we wish we could...just KNOW that if i didn't have these goddam follow appointments, and didnt have to get my stitches out and get x-rayed again, we'd be there...so when these shows kick up again in a week or so, try to remember that it might not be as exciting haha, i may have to sit my ass down the whole show and sing from a chair, but i'll figure somethin out...alright guys, thank you so much for your time and (hopefully) understanding...hope to see you all soon somewhere along the road, goodnite thank you!
we just wanna keep you guys updated on exactly which shows we're not able to make, so you don't get to the venue and realize at the last second that we're not playing. we're also sorry if that's happened to anyone in the last week; it's been a crazy couple days for us. so here it is:
we will NOT be playing Kansas City, Denver, Ogden, Seattle, Spokane, Eugene, and Portland. that's all we know for sure at this point. as for the shows following after that, we're doing everything we can do to get back out on the road, but i can't guarantee anything.
once again we're really sorry to any of you bought tickets to see us. we still encourage you guys to go and support the other bands who are continuing the tour. we'll keep you updated.

so we're sad to announce that we will be unable to play the st. paul show on the onerepublic tour. we do not take canceling shows lightly and we spent much time weighing all of our options. please be patient with us as we prepare to get back on the road after encountering some serious and unforeseen circumstances. we're hoping to be rolling again for the Kenosha, WI show, but i can make no guarantees.
also i just wanted to explain some of the other quirks you may have noticed in our schedule. the cancellation of the toledo OH show was out of our hands, as was the Chicago and Columbus shows. there's a chance that the chicago show will get rescheduled, so if you have tickets, keep your eyes open for a new date.
once again we apologize to all of you who were planning on coming out to any of these shows. we've all had shows cancelled on us so we know how much of a bummer it can be. know that we are doing everything we can to get back on the road and play in your town.
it seems like every blog we write starts out with "it's been a long time since we've blogged", but hahaha that's the truth. we hope you've all been enjoying the briskness of fall because we have. sadly there's only about a month of bearable/enjoyable cold, and then we'll be segueing into the unbearable/unenjoyable cold, or as we say, 'buffalo cold'. we just got back home about a week ago from an absolutely fantastic august and september. we started things out playing a couple shows for our friends in hawaii, headed out east for a college show or too (go nittany lions), then hopped onto the counting crows maroon 5 tour a little bit after that. the tour was an absolute blast loaded with incredible people, musicians, caterers and local crew. for those of you who couldn't make it out to any of these shows, the crows asked us to come out and help em out on a couple songs; a few of their own, some van morrison and simon/garfunkel too. chris would barely leave the stage, and the rest of us would be rushing through dinner so we could make it onstage on time. needless to say, it was a busy tour, but a rewarding one as well.
we were also privileged to have some of the other guys come and help us out with some of our songs. jesse from maroon 5 played piano with us on several nights, while dan vickrey and david immergluck from counting crows helped us out with guitar and pedal steel on 20 years and a new song called 'clementine'. for those of you in LA or the bay area, don't be surprised if one of these fellows happens to make an appearance in the upcoming months. by the end of it all, we were extremely saddened to part ways with what had become a 50+ person family. thank goodness we have pictures of the bocce balls games on the amphitheater lawns, the pickup football games on the loading docks and the bike rides across stage; we won't be forgetting them any time soon.
our time off was short but much needed as well. we celebrated a 2nd birthday last weekend, and the chargers smashed the patriots. we may sing a song called boston, but we were singing san diego super chargers all sunday (and monday, and tuesday and wednesday). south and i actually got to go to the game here in san diego, which was a blast. we received a lot of weird looks though; apparently beards aren't welcome at football games. hahaha
as for the rest of the year, we're heading out friday to play several of your universities as a short precursor to the onerepublic tour (starting october 26th in toledo, OH), for which we will be main support. also on the bill are the hush sound and the spill canvas. we're looking forward to playing again, especially in these types of venues, which are our favorite. we've also been cycling some new songs in and out of our set, so don't be surprised if you see some last minute audibles onstage, followed by something you've never heard before. we're also going to be doing our own merch, so there'll be plenty of time for us to hang out.
that about sums it all up. i've started talking to the dogs so i think that means it's time to get back on the road. hahaha. see you soon.

good evenin everybody. we all just got back from playing a couple of shows out east. thanks to everyone who made it out to letterman in new york, and to panda express/sbarro in boston. (hahaha if you were there then you know what i'm talking about.) we did our best to avoid literally melting in manhattan and drowning in the boston downpour. we had a couple days off in between the shows and a few of us managed to see broken social scene, f*** buttons, and MGMT. all were incredible.
also, the start of our leg of the counting crows and maroon 5 tour is creeping on up. so if you're planning on picnicking on the lawn of your local amphitheater, be sure to get tickets now while they're reasonable and available. the last thing we want is to see people stuck outside the venue with no way to get in!
as far as the title of this blog, our dear friend and videographic cinematographer, chase drake danger jensen, has managed to create two more video blogs covering the day off we had in the panhandle of florida, and of the time we spent wandering around the historic and humid new orleans. so grab yourself a tea, a coffee, or a whiskey and watch these videos like you were gonna be tested on 'em. honestly, if you could see the black bags underneath chase's eyes, you would understand how much time he spends staring at his screen putting these little treats together, so go on and enjoy.

end of tour blog/new tour videos
Current mood: tour lagged
afternoon everybody. we finished our headlining tour last night in anaheim so i have the privilege of writing you from my home. it's crazy how tours feel so long and so short at the same time. we had an incredible time meeting all of you in your streets, your theaters, your bars, your taco stands, your diners and your parking lots. thanks to everyone who paid money to come and watch us and thanks to those of you who snuck in too. thanks to everyone who bought the cd and thanks to everyone who bought the vinyl too. thanks to everyone who yelled out funny things that made us crack up in the middle of our set. thanks to everyone who brought us cookies and cupcakes, egg rolls and brownies, letters and other treats. thanks to everyone who helped us drag our gear through the streets of montreal and philly and nashville and boise. we're sorry for the times we dropped picks, for the times our guitars were out of tune, for the times our mics kept falling, for the times we blew our shoulders out on stage, and for the times we flat out screwed up. our tours would be be hollow and boring without the energy you guys bring into these empty rooms.
thank you for making the first tour of 'can't love can't hurt' really special. hopefully we'll be coming near you in august, september and october. we just can't wait to share the lawn with ya'll and watch the counting crows and maroon 5.
i'm gonna leave you with two more videos from the tour and i'm gonna promise you a couple more in the next week or two. thanks to our good friend chase jensen for putting hundreds of hours into these things! check out his brother wesley jensen too. he's really great and he has a killer rat tail.
