Did I mention the new release?
Current mood: excited
Today's the day! I'm really excited about this one, because it's been my and Emery's baby for such a long time now, and for it finally to see the light of print, even e-print, is a little overwhelming! Add to that the fact that we just finished the first draft on the third book in the series, and it looks to be an auspicious day for our threesome!
But today's big news is Echo of Distant Thunder is now available! Curious? Here's the blurb:
Graeme Shepherd and Diana Glendower lead a quiet life as university professors and lovers in Philadelphia until Peter Oberon arrives, upsetting their peace. An old friend and lover of Graeme's, Oberon brings a message from the Acolytes of Taranis, an ancient mystical order with a grudge against both men. Graeme has their vessel and they want it back. Unfortunately, Graeme has no idea what it could possibly be. Graeme isn't the only one with old lovers appearing in their lives, testing the strength of Graeme and Diana's relationship. Both of them have secrets they never revealed to each other. And Oberon can always be found on the fringes, pushing at them with questionable motives and an undeniable attraction for both of them. But nothing is what it seems. As magic, mystery and past secrets come to light, the trio travel from the cradle of liberty to the roots of civilization in order to appease the Acolytes before the Order's next sacrifice can hit too close to home.

The Excerpt:
Forty-five minutes later, with bags of Asian takeout added to their burden of book bags, they walked down Pine Street towards Graeme's apartment. The kids returning from break seemed to have brought a little spring back with them, and Diana could almost feel the life vibrating in the world around her, desperate to be free. It spoke to her, coursed through her, made her feel light and eager and alive. Sidling closer to Graeme, she balanced her packages in one hand to sneak the other under the back of his jacket and beneath the waistband of his slacks, her lips finding his ear in an eager little nip. "It's spring," she teased him. "Aren't your fancies lightly turning to thoughts of love?" "I'm hardly young." He glared at her, trapped by his own bags. "And what you're after isn't love, you little heathen." She leaned against his shoulder as they continued. "Mm, I think that's debatable. You know as well as I do that there's as much love in being tied to the bedposts and begging to come as there is in all the flowers and candlelit dinners that ever were." That earned a bark of laughter. "Oh, Diana" -- he bent to kiss the top of her head -- "let it not be said that you don't know how turn a phrase." "I call them like I see them." "You do at that." He didn't ask her to remove her hand. They walked in comfortable silence the last few blocks to his apartment, where she reluctantly pulled away to fish his keys out of her bag. "It's hardly gentlemanly of me to make you open the door yourself," he protested. "So you're going to make me hold all the bags instead?" She turned the key and the knob at the same time and shoved the building door open, stepping through before him. "Ladies first." "You're going to have to do the apartment door, too," he reminded her. "I think I can manage." "I'm sure you can. You're nothing if not resourceful." There was a purr in his voice that Diana liked the sound of. Graeme's apartment was on the first floor, for which she was infinitely grateful. The combination of hunger and anticipation was starting to grow, making her hand clumsy as she tried to fit the key in his door. The sudden press of Graeme's body against hers, pinning her to the door, made the task impossible and the last thing she cared about. "Graeme." His name came out breathless and needy. "What's the matter, Diana?" His lips teased her ear while his hips ground ever so slowly against hers, making his erection all the more obvious. "Can't manage?" Unable to resist, she shoved back against him. "Just don't drop the food." "I don't need to." The sudden intensity of his assault was overwhelming, making her forget everything. "You can't use your hands if you don't." His tongue was coarse against the side of her throat. "Maybe I'll just make you use yours instead." "Oh, God." She arched back against him, lost in the images his words conjured. She flailed for the latch, caught the key and yanked it around, clutched the knob and stumbled into his apartment, ready to toss everything aside in eager need for him. Only there was someone sitting in his chair. The man regarded them for a moment, then turned his attention back to the book propped up against his legs, which were casually thrown over the arm of the chair. There was an air of negligent sophistication about him. The denim of his jeans was sharp and crisp, and she would lay good money on the fact that his pale blue button-up was of the highest quality cotton. He was all long, lean lines without being awkward, and he sat with the elegant sprawl of a man very at home with his body. Graeme growled behind her. "Oberon." Diana found herself pushed out of the way as he stormed into the room. "What in the hell do you think you're doing here?"
And keep checking here. We'll have a couple of treats from these three for you over the next few months!

Memorable Memorial Day
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Life
Spending the day packing up the family to head off to the jungles of the Poconos for four days. I'm looking forward to it, because I desperately need the break. I plan to do no writing, no work of any kind. I'm going to sit in my new beach chair with my feet in the water and bake in the sun while READING something cover to cover for the first time in months. That's the hazard of writing, especially as a working mom. You feel like any free time you have you should be spending writing rather than doing the things we need to do to feed the muse. So, this weekend my muse is Harry Dresden, and my altar is Promised Land Lake. I fully expect the kids to spend the entire time in the water. They'll look like little Picts by the time we bring them home. Should be a good start to the summer!

Day 2
Okay, well, technically its still only Day 1, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of things. Oh, who am I kidding, I don't have a clue what I'm doing. But I have my pretty black and purple combination up, and at least one of my book covers, so that will have to do for now. SOME PEOPLE promised to help me with this stupid thing, so speak up, you! What are people's favorite features and why, and how the heck do I include them?
