I spoke with Maya for quite a while and there wasn't room for all of it, most notably an in depth discussion of "Lost," "The Wire," the lack of Indian/Sri Lankans in Michael Bay's Transformers, and a phone call she got from Ricky Martin.
There's also articles on comedy pals Eugene, Patton, Cross, Conchords, Posehn, and more.
Also...
I'm back in NY and will be hosting Crash Test at the UCB Theatre on Mondays at 11 pm and doing other standup shows, I'll update my schedule on azizisbored.com and myspace.com/azizansari.
Human Giant Season 2, Trapped in the Closet, Food, Etc.
Sorry I've been so lazy about blogging. We started writing Season 2 of Human Giant a few weeks ago, so I've been pretty busy with that.
The NYTimes interviewed me for this article about "Trapped in the Closet" and mentioned I was doing the show again on August 25th at UCB in NY, unfortunately, that's not the case, as I will still be in LA. We'll probably do it again in September once I get back to NY and maybe once next week in LA?
Other than that...
In case you didn't know, I love food more than anything in the universe and I've been eating like a maniac - some recent favorites:
- LA - A.O.C., Izayaka by Katsu-Ya, Joan's on 3rd, French Crepe Company, Roscoe's, The Griddle, Larchmont Wine and Cheese
- NY - L'Impero, Megu, Babbo, Perry Street, Balthazar (Brunch), Blue Hill, Hill Country BBQ
I'm bummed I missed Daft Punk at Coney Island.
My two favorite movies right now are Foot Fist Way and King of Kong. See them both as soon as you can! Thanks to Patton for repeatedly urging me to see both.
I should be back in NY in September to do Crash Test, thanks to John Mulaney for taking over in August.
Season 2 of "Human Giant" will air in January of '08.
Last week, MTV told us we could get 24 hours on MTV and MTV2 to do whatever we want. So on Friday, May 18th at noon - we'll take over both channels for a full day and will host live from MTV's Times Square studio. They're literally letting us do whatever we want - we can program whatever shows we want, have guests, bands, music videos, anything! We just have to stay up for 24 hours and get a million hits on our website.
Here are a few of the guests we have coming down, (more bands and guests will be announced later in the week):
Fred Armisen Will Arnett Todd Barry Jon Benjamin Andy Blitz Michael Cera Zach Galifianakis Jon Glaser Bill Hader Nick Kroll Eugene Mirman The National Bob Odenkirk Rob Riggle Slovin and Allen Michael Showalter Tapes 'n Tapes Ted Leo Tegan and Sara
If you are near NY and want FREE tickets to be in the audience, just send an e-mail to battleofthebands@mtvstaff.com and please include the following:
-Name -Age -Phone number
Of course, you are not obligated to stay in the audience for the full 24 hours and can stay as long as you want from what I understand. It should be really fun.
Human Giant Episode 2 Tonight at 10:30/9:30c on MTV!
Hey MySpace gang,
Episode 2 of Human Giant will be on tonight at 10:30/9:30c on MTV! Its one of my favorite episodes. Please watch it. Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, Jay Johnston, and Jon Benjamin guest star.
If our ratings don't show growth, we'll get cancelled and replaced with MTV's other show called "Human Giant" where Sway interviews people that are extraordinarily large.
Here's what you can look forward to in tonight's episode:
A sketch called "Dick on the Face" inspired by the film "Crank," "Catching a Predator," "Let's Go!" (see photo above), and more!
Thanks for all the kind comments and messages, we all appreciate it. I think we're gonna leak part 1 of a brand new episode of SHUTTERBUGS soon, so I'll send that over as soon as I can.
Human Giant Episode 1 FREE on iTunes! Premieres on MTV 4/5!
Hey MySpace friends,
Human Giant is a TV show I made for MTV with my friends Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer, and Jason Woliner. It's a show full of short films like the ones we made online. The show premieres this Thursday at 10:30/9:30c on MTV.
The first episode of Human Giant is now available for FREE on iTunes. Please download it, watch it, and tell people about it, because if you don't, XZibit and Sway will make fun of our low ratings. In addition to the HG crew, Ghostface Killah and Linda Cardellini from "Freaks and Geeks" are also in this episode. I hope you like it! On azizisbored.com, I posted the link to our iTunes page: Human Giant on iTunes store
Or you can just go to the iTunes store, click on TV shows, then click on Comedy, and you'll see us.
And finally, here's a trailer we made for Season 1:
