Yesterday, on our way to Oregon to see family, the boys and I drove the coast route. We usually count log trucks to pass the time while talking about the need and turmoil of living in a society dependant on paper products. But, this drive took the cake! I think it was 34 trucks total with 28 being full...Disgusting! The problem is that we are being taken for a ride with the wool pulled over our heads like a black sack, while simultaneously being sold ocean front property in North Dakota. This lumber is being sent to China and other far off lands for pennies. The American people are losing their forests and woodlands for nothing. Our children will not have any oldgrowth trees or forests left at this rate. My dad is a remodel contractor and he said that they are basically giving away lumber, the prices are so low. So, if it is not profitable to scar the Mother than why is the 101 so horrifically pockmarked? Plus, with this new show, Ax Men, which is filmed near my folks house, I wonder is this trying to show support for the logging industry or show the last of a dying breed. I pray for the latter.
