State Board Result

I passed!

I had doubts that I was going to pass (in all honesty, I only put in 6 solid hours of studying/cramming) - in fact, I even mentally prepared myself to study more so I can re-take it as soon as I get my result but miraculously, I passed on my first try and the only thing I have to mentally prepare myself for is the QAPs for a licensed position at work!

You know you're all grown up when instead of thinking of all the awesome things I'm going to buy myself - I'm thinking of how much money I need to save as a down payment for my own home!

An email fwd I received:

hey guys, got a job opening coming up in mid-2007 for EDISON, 25 openings for APPRENTICE NUCLEAR PLANT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR. to access the website, go www.edison.com , navigate to the career opportunity page and look for SoCal edison jobs, find san clemente as the city, and you should see the job title in the list. the job starts at $26/hr, but after a year of training, it pays in the range of 80k-120k depending on overtime.  after 8-10 years, you get your control room license (homer simpson) you make upwards of 150k. working at a nuclear power plant is NOT dangerous, you get more radiation from talking on cell phone.  the job doesnt require a degree, but you need to pass two tests that requires you to have some knowledge of math and physics before they..'ll give you an interview. the first test is easy but do it fast cause its timed.  the second test has a study guide, and requires alot of studying, the study guide link is given also on that job page once you get to it, make sure you get a head start studying, its not easy.  i had a terrible GPA when i graduated from college and couldnt find a job for 6 month and its the worst time of my life so thats the reason i'm doing this and i want to help out anyone i can. females are strongly encouraged to apply cause edison like a well balanced group.there are also plenty of other job openings at edison.com, from clerks that make $20/hr to engineers to financial analysts. good luck. spread the word to as many ppl as you can, just cause someone have a job doesnt mean they are happy at their job.

Know what's totally nauseating? When you check your inbox and someone emailed a picture of their COCK. Seriously - wtf. People hiding behind their monitors know no shame. I seriously get a cock picture at least once, twice a month.

I hate how we have to title everything for this damn blog!

Today I worked with a DD patient and I'm ashamed to report that I behaved like a complete chicken. I know it's because I haven't been fully trained to work with them and it's also due to my ignorance of their behaviors. Regardless, I am still ashamed of the distrust in my heart.

The patient reached for me today. I very hesitantly gave him my hand. When he pulled my hand towards him, I immediately retracted my hand. My initial thought was - he's going to bite me. He responded with displeasure and again reached out for my hand. Again, I hesitantly put my hand in his and as he pulls my hand towards him, I tried to remove my hand. He held on tight and I felt alarmed and was very close to panicking but he just pulled me towards him so he can lay his head on my shoulder and hold my hand. He just wanted to be babied. He was upset because he felt the other nurses were belittling his intelligence. Almost broke my heart and I felt ashamed for not providing the basic patient care: comfort
