I think he is saying this because of the adaptable nature of water and it's many forms. He presents this concept through his philosophy of fighting, but it can be applied to every day life as well. The suggestion is to take on the many forms of water and react like it does when faced with obstacles or opportunities. Water sometimes flows rapidly downhill at times and collects in pools where it appears still.

Water doesn't ever stop moving however, it's always flowing... on, around, in, through... The modeling your own actions after the adaptability of water allows one to flow through life and deal with things as they come. I believe that this concept alone is what he banked on when he defeated his opponents within minutes, sometimes seconds. Water isn't the only model we can look at though, many classic Gung-Fu styles emulate animals or other forces of nature.

I'm sure you've heard the expression "run like the wind." Same concept, different state of matter. :P hehe

Become aware of these places in your body and how they affect your overall condition of life. Not only are they material sources for hormones and chemicals vital to our existence, they are energy centers in our bodies that allow us to function properly in reality. Study each Chakra center and memorize each function as you go through each day, then you think about how everything around you affects each Chakra center. As you do this your knowledge grows and the power of opening each Chakra center increases. Kind of like once you see it you believe it. It is chaotic to us because we don't completely grasp the interactions of the forces around us so our drive is to figure it out. That's what we've been trying to do this whole time right? I think the biggest problem we struggle with though is that we try to take our information. We don't allow it to be given to us by observation, I think that's one of the only ways we can truly comprehend what is. Modern society has rebuilt itself countless times, so numerous it's hard to keep track.

We have forgotten our roots, tribal governments have been around for centuries... probably since before man became aware of the self. Tribal governments observe their surroundings, and take only what they absolutely need because they trust that it will be there again tomorrow. There is a balance that only nature can maintain and our selfish attitudes have destroyed that balance. We have seen the affects of it clearly by the ice caps melting and weather patterns becoming more unstable.

Now there is turmoil on the land that our forefathers gave their lives for. Things seem too overwhelming and unmanagable, but when we're left to speculation we only have half the story. The rest comes from observing the physical truths and concrete facts. Putting your faith in speculation alone only causes grief and heartache. Sometimes when we hear the truth and it is adverse to our idea of things we resist the notion. It's that very resistance that halts our growth as people.

We need to stop blocking truth from our hearts and allow it to enter freely. Our survival as humans depends on it, how lazy and cold we have become. I don't call any of you out, but as a whole our society needs help big time. Things are falling apart at the seams and soon we will be forced to deal with the reprecussions of our inaction.
