WIN THE NEW BARDO STATE – MARIPOSA ALBUM!
Because of the overwhelming response we received after releasing our first E.P. called "Paradis", we thought that it would be nice to give something back to our loyal fans. That's why we came up with the following idea.
WE ARE GOING TO GIVE OUR MARIPOSA ALBUM AWAY FOR FREE!!
You might wonder, just like that..?
Well, almost…
The only thing you have to do is email us the receipt that you received after purchasing a Bardo State track. Or add one or more of our tracks to your Hyves or a MySpace account and let us know!
If you bought a digital track and you have Hyves or MySpace you are in luck. You can do both then!
We have 10 albums to give away 5 copies for the friends that send in their receipt 5 copies for the friends that add our tracks to their profile
So get to work and send your e-mails to: bardostate@unitedrecordings.com

Culturedeluxe.com writes "Moby with class if you want a shorthand definition"
Bardo State
'Mariposa'
Released on 29 September 2008

You know you're in coffee book territory when the CD alone reeks of "look at this - it's classy". Yup, you get a choice of multiple pretty flutterbys to put in your cd cover. Shame the record company fluffed that one up however by giving the CD a rather naff slipcase which only reveals the smallest of portions of the various flying bugs.
However, this minor quibble should really be put aside as this is a quite extraordinary album. It takes the same idea as those 1001 "classic ambience" albums you've probably seen in your local supermarket, but gives it a Harrods makeover. Moby with class if you want a shorthand definition.
Highly and confidently produced variations on classical themes (such as Debussy and Saint Saens) are the order of the day along with the occasional well chosen cover version (David Bowie & Kate Bush get a look in to great effect). Particular tracks of note are the Shostakovich referencing 'Kosovo' which whilst evoking eastern semi-operatic melodes does not stray into uninteresting caterwauling. It's not happy and blissful music for sure, but great music in this genre shouldn't need to be. The Saint Saens variations of 'Solitario' also provide a welcome and stark breather from the rest of the album - beautiful in isolation, when listened with the rest of the album it really stands out thanks to a solo piano rendition. I can almost guarantee you will hear title track 'Mariposa' soundtracking an extremely expensive car or similarly high-rolling product in the not too distant future, but don't let that put you off.
Definitely one to put on the mp3 player and listen to on the beach when you're relaxing on your summer holiday ('ah, if only our readers received promo copies in time for their holidays, this isn't out until late September!' - Ed).

Pathaan’s Seneca remix on Supperclub Beauty
Pathaan did an excellent job remixing Seneca. He also selected the track for the new 'supperclub beauty' compilation.
'supperclub beauty' is the third album in the supperclub ninesins series. In this serie supperclub explores nine modern sins through music and art. For each album a dj is invited to select and mix the music and a young upcoming artist to create a work of art. This results in nine controversial double albums and nine works of art each with a different sin as its theme. Of each work of art, a limited edition of 10 original prints are available for sale.
Pathaan is a London based, born & bred dj/producer/taste maker/Label Manager/BBC Radio disc jockey with Indian/Pakistani roots. He is renowned for his unique music selection in which he combines all genres with an "outernational sound". His music is spiritual and full of emotion yet always powerful and uplifting. His ability to read an audience makes it possible for him to take you on a musical trip. Pathaan doesn't just play tracks, he flawlessly mixes atmospheres!
His first break came in 1996 when David Bowie heard him play and immediately offered him the support slot on his 'Earthling Tour'. After returning, Pathaan set up the label 'Stoned Asia Music' releasing compilations and signing artists like 'Cosmic Rocker' & 'Ikarus'. Before going on a trip to India, Pathaan had given Talvin Singh a tape of a dj set and after he returned Singh offered him a residency in the now legendary Blue Note Café.
For 'supperclub beauty' he has delivered two cd..s. 'cd one' is warm and has a profoundly deep feeling. From the first notes, the music touches you and makes you want to listen to the whole album in one go. Just like a good book which you simply cannot put aside. Pathaan was over the moon when he heard that 'cd two' was his clean canvas on which anything goes! He went flat out and the result is a unique mix of world music, chill-out, break beats and progressive tech-trance which takes you on a journey to unknown destinations – as far as your mind will allow you to travel. This is Pathaan's genuine "outernational sound"! Pathaan on beauty: "We live in a world which in many ways is very primitive. We can navigate outer space but we have no idea about our inner space. Our technology is supremely advanced, but we still have war, ethnocentrism, racism, bigotry, hatred and prejudice. We need to find solutions to these problems, because in a sense we have evolved to a point where we risk our own extinction. Embracing all forms of music from around the globe and understanding other cultures can influence this, spreading universal love and appreciating the beauty within and around us!!"
Neil Duerden is a self confessed mac- monkey based near Manchester. His illustrations are a combination of hand- rendered elements from mixed media and photography. Neil..s work is complex and contains many layers. His clients include Saatchi and Saatchi, Gucci, MTV, Chanel and Nike.
Neil Duerden on beauty: "The beauty concept for supperclub made me wonder: is beauty a natural thing or an attitude we learn throughout our lives? I believe it is a little of both. We start innocent and the natural, unconditional beauty of youth shines through. We mature to teenagers where we experiment in both trends and attitude to develop our place in society and again our inner beauty blossoms to create the adults we are today... beauty is in everything we do and see, it's nature, we are all naturally beautiful. This should create the final emotion to be stimulated, acceptance. This is as we all have the constant battle between inner and outer beauty each and every day".

Poète Electronique on Supperclub Nomads 6
Bardo State's "Poète Electronique" has been selected for the new Supperclub Nomads 6 compilation.
On Nomads 6, resident DJ Jimmy Jazz takes us on yet another action packed adventure where ethnic and modern-day influences are sublimely blended. He uses tracks from Vietnam, Northern and Middle Africa and South America giving the album the musical and historical twist the series are renowned for.
Nomads is an exclusive restaurant in Amsterdam inspired by the Arabian nomad culture and designed by trendsetting architects Concrete. Nomads is a phenomenon in its own right among the more exotic quality restaurants in the capitol of Holland.
"Nomads is the official spin-off series of supperclub. Over the years Nomads has developed a distinctive sound. Labeling Nomads as 'chill out music' does not do it justice. This is world music with a capital W ".
