The first annual Healing Through the Arts event in Chewelah was a great success!  I learned about it through a new MySpace friend I'd made, and I took Josh and Kinzie down around noon and we ended up staying til 11:30 pm.  We had so much fun, and I really hope they do this every year.

There were interactive art projects, local vendors selling their delightful wares, a stage with a varied and neverending supply of poets, songwriters, musicians, dancers, and authors reading their stories, good food, good coffee, an indoor space for the kids to blow off steam, and new friends to meet. 

There was a gal doing hot-rock massage, an introductory class of Qi Gong (wonderful!), a huge area for arts and crafts, and a large covered dance area.  Sporty's set up an outdoor eating area, and offered their full menu to event participants.

The music was wonderful. There was reggae, hip hop, rock and rap, slow dancing and break dancing, solos and groups.  Even a little bit of rain couldn't dampen the spirit of this event, nor the message: Find your passion, do what you love, be creative, and heal yourself!  I feel so motivated now to revisit my creativity and see what I can come up with.

Many thanks and congratulations to Gina, Gloria, and all the wonderful people who worked so hard to make this event a success.  Maybe next year there'll be something I can do to help out.  :)
