I fail at watching movies
Category: Life
I'm probably the worst person to watch TV/movies/shows with, especially if it's at home. I'm well aware of this fact, but I was highly amused by my movie-watching activities last night when we attempted to watch as many episodes of the UK Office series as possible. I can't sit still! Here's my list of stuff I did besides pay attention: - Put laundry away - Went through all of my clothes in my dresser and purged items (I carried each drawer to the living room, dumped it, then re-assembled it, minus the purged items, and took it back. Repeat 6 times.) - Taped off the living room and front room for painting this weekend - Went through about three rounds of sun salutations - Checked e-mail a few times
I think this sort of behavior may be normal, but maybe I'm wrong. I know it drives Casey nuts, but he's learned to live with it. Oh, and don't quiz me on what I saw, I don't remember much for obvious reasons.

I think I saw Johnny Depp...
Current mood: tired
Category: Travel and Places
I'm totally convinced I saw Johnny Depp at Disneyland yesterday (Tuesday). It was in a weird spot too - the crazy-huge Disney store right outside the park in Downtown Disney, around 8pm or so. I'd like to say he was with some kids that would be very much the age of his kids, but I wasn't paying that much attention. And yes, i got home and went straight for imdb to find out how old his kids were, his current facial hair stylings, and if he'd even be in LA working on something. I don't know that stuff off hand, geez! Everything matches, so I'm gonna call it a sighting, dammit. I was actually searching frantically for my mom AND mother-in-law (yes, I succeeded in losing BOTH of them in there), and I kept going by him while I was looking. I won't lie, I was intentionally searching for them in the area he was in just because I couldn't quite believe that he would be there, in the women's clothing section of all places! I kept thinking that there are some really good Jack Sparrows in Disneyland, and hey, they could be on vacation and not in "uniform," right? Casey had my camera and he was still inside the park, so no pictures, sorry - I don't think I would have anyway. OK, need to go to bed now. Vacations wear me out.

Hot, wonderful water.
Current mood: Congested-o-rama
Does anyone else experience immediate relief from stuffy, congested, runny, disgustingness when you hop in a really, REALLY hot shower? It's instant relief for me. I've been wasting way too much water on clearing my sinuses for the past three weeks that i've been sick, but damn it works wonders! I tried to look up some explanation for this split-second mucous membrane response time, but i got about a page deep and decided that it's probably more fun to leave it a mystery. Like what hot dogs are made of. I need to find some quick cure-all for this damn cold thing fast, because Thanksgiving is coming up next week...and right after Thanksgiving, a mini get-a-way to Savannah!

It's Official.
Current mood: accomplished
Category: School, College, Greek
As you can guess from my new user pic, i graduated this weekend! Yup, i did the walk and everything. I even went to the baccalaureate service and dinner the night before...so much school spirit! The commencement ceremony was pretty decent; i was afraid it was going to be ridiculously long but it was actually pretty short i think. The speaker was great too, she didn't try to get into all that lofty bullshit of "you are our bright and shiny future, blah blah blah." When it came time to do the walk on stage, I practically mauled the president with a big hug, because i'm the touchy-feely type of course. It was freakin' hot by the time it was over, so we went home and i walk into a fully decorated house, thanks to Paul and Jenn.
I was totally surprised and i think i was laughing at the massive amount of streamers everywhere...it was great.
So now...I guess it's just work. I started full-time on Monday and i'm lovin' it. I may sneak into the studio on campus to work on some ceramics over the summer, just to sharpen my skills (or just plain get some skills, period). It's so weird coming home and not having an assload of homework and studying to do, but i'm sure i'll get used to it!

DONE DONE DONE
Current mood: exhuasted and relieved
I finished my last final at 11am this morning....WOOHOO!!!! I am officially done with classes forever (or until i go back to school...ahem). I went and got my hair done right afterwards, and i'll be vegging out at the spa tomorrow with my mom as a late mother's day/graduation present for both of us. And...i can't wait to CLEAN MY HOUSE! I feel like i've been living like a true college kid this semester....dirty dishes everywhere, papers and books strewn about the house, etc.
It feels so strange to be done. I'm still undecided about how i feel about the whole college "experience." I know i've grown as a person and all that crud, but i can't help but think there was something better i could have been doing all this time. I did learn how to calculate the teeny-tiny possibility of spontaneous phenomena occurring (like levitation, combustion, etc). I won't explain it here, but i'll tell ya...don't hold your breath for it!
Oh, and my Power Element is Tungsten (W). So when I throw a W, it's not westside, it's wolfram motherbitches!

5 weeks!
Current mood: busy
Holy balls, i can't believe i'll be done with college in just 5 weeks, and what a busy 5 weeks it will be! I scheduled a spa day with my mommy after finals, so at least i have something relaxing to look forward to after busting my ass all week. I'm all about spoiling myself currently i guess...i bought a ridiculously overpriced skirt to wear for graduation, and it probably won't even show under the robe. After graduation, I'll be working full-time for Creative Clay, which i'm really excited about. It has nothing to do with my major whatsoever, but i don't care. It makes me happy and I get to help other people feel happy and that's all that matters, dammit. I'll work out all the other details later.
In other news, I recently went to Atlanta for an ACS (American Chemical Society) conference with my classmates.

Note the fact that there's only 2 girls in the group. Also note that I'm wearing 3" heels and everyone's still a foot taller than me. Oh well. It was a fun time and there was free beer at the conference (chemistry people know how to roll), so i was highly entertained the entire time. I got to see a few presentations/talks, including one by my physical chemistry professor. I'm gonna miss the chemistry world, especially research...but who knows? I may return to it someday. I think it's funny how i wanted to go to school for art, but i thought it would be impractical so i turned to science instead, and now it looks like i'll have a job in art. Isn't life funny? Regardless, i think i like the way it's going thus far, and it'll only get better once these damn classes are over!
Ok, i'm totally rambling now...and avoiding inorganic homework.
PS - Jon, Symphony, Dave, Josh , Matt (still in CA?)...we'll be in CA for the holidays this year, so prepare!

Old items
Current mood: busy
I finally got around to putting up some pics yesterday since i was home sick. Nothing too exciting, just some photos around the lab and some things i made around christmastime.
Crafty stuff
Lab 2005
These were taken during the "magic eye" experiment and we were DELIRIOUS that day. Staring at glowing lights in a dark room for three hours will make anyone crazy.
Counting down to graduation....11 weeks!

kitties!
Category: Pets and Animals
We've been scouring the local pet shops and shelters (mostly shelters) for two cats, and we finally found our new buddies at Second Chance for Strays in Clearwater (they have cats at the Petsmart on Gulf to Bay). They're a great organization and all their cats are in foster homes rather than cages and kennels, and most all of them are strays or babies of strays. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a cat.
So here they are!
YuuYuu (Japanese for calm/tranquil, we named him that because he's so mellow and laid back for being a deaf kitten) It's pronounced like the letter U, so we call his name by giving him the hand signal for "U" with both hands. He doesn't get it yet but he will eventually.

Yup, he's totally deaf, but it's more of an advantage than a disadvantage. He doesn't mind loud noises (obviously), and he loves car rides since he can't hear any of the scary car noises.

We're getting used to using hand signals with him too...yelling "NO!" REALLY doesn't work with him.

Fluffy like a bunny!
Malee (Thai for flower, she came with the name and we liked it)

She's so prissy. We got her a week after YuuYuu and we were so worried about getting another cat and having them beat up on YuuYuu, but it's YuuYuu who beats up on her...not really beat up on her, but he won't leave her alone...he just wants to play!

She's a bit of a piggy...

and so sleek!

So cute!
And those are our kittens. They provide us with non-stop entertainment, and i do mean non-stop...as in, 4 in the morning non-stop. But we love 'em!
