What it's like to live on a Main Street in the urbs?
That's what many people ask me
How do you get any sleep here?
I wonder the same
For those who live on quiet avenues.
I am so accustomed to it now
The constant traffic
The honking and squealing
The drug dealers fighting on the corner
The young girls dressed like hookers
They yell across the street to each other
The boys with the saggy pants
They think they are so tough
"Want a piece of me"?
Curious as how they would fight
I imagine one handed
As they need one to hold up their pants
Oh and the weekends
The blended smells from over a dozen restaurants
The loud drunks from the bar across the street
What's it like to live on a Main Street,
How do you get any sleep?
Simple, I close my eyes
These constant sounds are like a heart beat
Thump, Thump, Thump, Thump.
The sounds of this Main Street
