Morning Edition,November 5, 2008 · Along a rural highway in central Texas sits a small white house with some cows grazing out back and a wheelchair ramp leading to the front screen door. Inside that house lives Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a slave. No one in her family, least of all Jones, thought she would live long enough to vote for the man who is to become the first black president.

Ann Nixon Cooper, 106 years old, lived during a time when blacks and women did not have the right to vote.
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- Ann Nixon Cooper, 106 years old, has seen presidents come and go in her lifetime and has outlived most of them. On a sunny fall morning, she left her weathered but well-kept Tudor home in Atlanta, Georgia, to vote early -- this time for Barack Obama.
The African-American centenarian remembers a time not long ago when she was barred from voting because of her race. Now she hopes to see the day that Obama is elected as the nation's first black president.
"I ain't got time to die," Cooper said with a smile."Even if he didn't win, I was happy for him just to be nominated," said the former socialite. "The first black president -- isn't that something, at 106 years old?"
At the Fulton County government center, Cooper was greeted by Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin."I thought that I would accompany her today to support her, but also to say to all people that this is a choice we have," Franklin said.
Allen, 100, walked outside of her home today to vote but she didn't stop at her polling place first.
She went door to door to speak with her neighbors. "I'm here to make sure you vote," said Allen speaking with neighbors. "Oh yes I did, the whole household did," said neighbor Debbie Atkins. Whether neighbors voted or had not already didn't stop Allen. This was a woman on a mission.
"This time it's something that never happened before and it may never happen again. To have a negro running for president that is unprecedented. No one in my lifetime never thought this would happen," said Allen.
And she took that mindset to other neighbors as well. "Good morning, good morning I came here to see if you voted," said Allen. "Oh yes soon as they opened up I went there," said neighbor Laurel Willingham-McLain. Neighbors were just as excited about today's election as Allen was. "I think it's nice to have her going around encouraging people to vote," said Doris Atkins. "She asked me if I voted and I told her yes and she asked me again so I said yes again," said Debbie Atkins.
Allen says the reason she went door to door was to encourage large voter turnout like what was seen throughout polling sites in the county. "It feels wonderful," said Allen. Especially for this woman who was born before the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote and before African American's had the right to cast their ballots.

no matter how busy or stressed out I am - I make quality time with my son a top priority

A major turning point for the world, or even world destruction, possibly by asteroid collision or a man-created Black Hole swallowing earth. Also, 12-12-12, Dec. 12, 2012, is (6 years, 6 months, 6 days) after 6-6-06, June 6 2006. 12 is the number of completion, as Christ had 12 disciples. So perhaps the cycle completes on 12-12-12, the Mayan Calendar transformation time. Astrologically unusual then is that 4 planets are at or near 8 degrees on Dec. 22 2012, near Christmas: Jupiter at 8 Gemini (Air sign), Saturn at 8 Scorpio (Water sign), Pluto at 8 Capricorn (Earth sign), Venus at 7 Sagittarius (Fire sign). So Earth/Air/Fire/Water, the 4 elements, and note that "888" corresponds to "Jesus" in Greek.
Population: Note that the world population reached 6.5 billion in 2006, and in Revelation 6:5 the third horseman, economic depression, starts to ride, so world economic chaos may last in 2008-2010, possibly from high oil prices. When the world population reaches 6.66 billion in about April 2008, that may be a terrorism caused by Iran and Al Qaeda, or this could be the rise of the Antichrist, Russian President Putin. Also, country populations may be prophetic. The U.S. reached 300 million in Oct. 2006, the number 3 in 300 million being associated with the Holy Trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. This means that the Holy Ghost will protect the U.S. and Israel during the disastrous events of war and disease in 2008-2010. Perhaps the "3" in 300 million relates to the famous Nostradamus "aquatic triplicity" quatrain 1-50, about a hero appearing in the U.S., see this page.

I would connect this horseman with Saturn, associated in Greek/Roman/Etruscan mythology with agriculture as well as weights and measures and coins. During the October 1987 and October 1929 stock exchange crashes, the Planet Saturn was in the Astrological sign of Sagittarius. The significance of this is that Sagittarius, the combined horse/man, with Saturn having a connection in Greek / Roman / Etruscan mythology to agriculture as well as weghts and measures and coins, means that Saturn in Sagittarius represents the third Horseman of the Apocalypse, economic depression. When Saturn is in Sagittarius you may get the trigger event, such as a stock market crash, that begins an economic depression. Saturn will not be in Sagittarius for many years, but you can still expect great economic chaos in 2008-2010 as we will then be in the seven year End Times period, including a major war in 2010. Other cases of economic problems when Saturn was in Sagittarius: (1) Saturn was in Sagittarius in 1782, when an economic decline began that resulted in economic depression in the U.S. from 1783 to 1787. (2) Saturn was in Sagittarius from 1838-1841, a severe economic depression, lasting seven years, began with the panic of 1837, caused by a series of bank failures. (3) Saturn was in sagittarius on Sept. 24, 1869, when a Gold Market panic, "Black Friday", began an economic decline that resulted in a severe recession for the U.S. 1873-1879. (4) The Panic of 1893 resulted in a severe recession until 1897, when Saturn entered Sagittarius, in this case at the end of the recession. Generally, the U.S. economic pattern of recessions or depressions every 30 or 60 years is related to the 29.4 period of revolution around the Sun of the planet Saturn. Consider that the horsemen are "activated" when the planets enter Sagittarius -- who is a combined horse/man. I think it could be this pattern exists mostly after year 1900 -- and many people think the "horsemen" started riding after year 2000. Also, consider the significance of the comet crash on Jupiter. Jupiter was lit up brightly by the comet collision, and if the Antichrist is identified with Jupiter, the Antichrist is none other than Satan or Lucifer on earth. Lucifer means "light-bringer". Also, Satan is represented in the Bible as a star that falls from heaven, like the comet. This idea seems to work well, based .. from this century, for Jupiter in Sagittarius (corresponding to "men on horseback" -- politicians who shake things up--appearing on the international scene) and for Saturn in Sagittarius (corresponding to 2 stock market crashes, in 1929 and 1987,and a recession in 1958). In fact, this explains a pattern to United States economic depressions, of occurring every 30 or 60 years. This pattern can be explained by the 29.4 year period of Saturn. Saturn in Sagittarius seems to produce the critical event, such as a stock market crash, that begins an economic depression. Let us now consider the first horsemen -- the "man on horseback". A man on horseback can be good or evil, and very often are both. Hitler, Cromwell, Gorbachev, Kennedy, and Napoleon would all be men on horseback -- the defining quality is that they ride in and shake things up. They also may ride right off a cliff, but not always. Let us now consider Jupiter in Sagittarius, and see if there are "Men on Horseback". Jupiter in Sagittarius, and Men on Horseback:

A significant milestone for the world, possibly relating to the Antichrist Putin. And note that on April 7, Putin is 666 months old. This could relate to Putin manipulating the March 2008 Presidential Election in Russia, to make himself absolute dictator there. August 8, 2008. "888" is "Jesus" numerically in Greek, the original language of The Bible's New Testament. Could this be a significant date for the world? Nov. 4, 2008. Hillary Clinton is elected President of the U.S. I believe that Hillary Clinton and Mr. Obama will have a very close race, for primary after primary the two of them competing for votes, that may not be settled until at the Convention. Mr. Obama is a magnificent and inspiring speaker, but I believe that Hillary will win the nomination and be elected President. But this will be a tough and highly competitive political race between these two. January 26, 2009. An annular solar eclipse (where the sun is not completely blacked out) is seen in the Indian Ocean and Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia. This is 6 days after the new U.S. President is officially in power on Jan. 20. The astrology pattern for the Jan. 26 2009 eclipse (shown below) indicates Hillary is the new President, since the astrology chart has Saturn by itself in Virgo the Virgin representing woman, with all the other planets grouped together across from it. Saturn in Virgo I think represents woman in power. The solar eclipse passing over Indonesia could mean that war with Muslim terrorism continues then. What we see here again is the conflict between woman and the Muslim serpent.
The Astrology of Diseases related to Galaxies: I will consider here three diseases that are a threat to mankind: AIDS, Ebola , and Influenza. The virus that causes AIDS, HIV, was discovered in 1983, so we will associate AIDS with the number 83. The galaxy M83 is in the constellation Hydra, which was a multi-headed serpent in mythology that kept growing a new head, each time a head was cut off. This sounds like AIDS, which keeps mutating to allow it to get around any treatment or vaccine. The Hydra was defeated by Hercules, by his nephew Iolaus burning each of the mortal heads as Hercules cut them off, and burying the immortal head under a stone. I wonder if this mythology story could somehow be a clue on how to treat AIDS? Note that the AIDS virus has 9213=111x83 bits of genetic information, so again we see the number 83 again. Ebola, a lethal disease of Africa that kills in two weeks of infection, had its virus discovered in 1976, so if we associate galaxy M76 with it, we are near the constellation Andromeda. Remember the movie "Andromeda Strain" about a lethal disease that threatened humanity? That could be Ebola if it mutates to an airborne form. Influenza was discovered in 1933. Galaxy M33 is in the constellation Triangulum. That may imply we should look for a triangle. The numbers 33, 76, and 83 do form a right (90 degree) triangle with an angle of 66 degrees.
Since 666 is the number of the antichrist, this may imply that these three diseases will threaten humanity when he appears. In fact, ebola virus frequently twists itself into a shape that looks like a "6". These diseases may also relate to three animals used to describe the Antichrist: he is like a leopard, has the mouth of a lion, and the feet of a bear. Maybe Ebola corresponds to the leopard, with its great speed; Ebola kills in two weeks of infection. Influenza could be the lion; it causes coughing like a lion's roar. And AIDS could be the bear; bears hibernate, like AIDS can do in people, until it wakes up and kills them. Mad Cow Disease (BSE) infecting people's brains was announced in March 1996 in England as the Comet Hyakutake passed by the constellation (I mean constellation, not astrological sign) Virgo the Virgin. I think that virgo the Virgin represents Isis, the Egyptian Goddess portrayed with cow's horns, giving us a "cow" connection. And Virgo may also represent Europa, representing Europe, who rides a bull, again giving us a "cow" connection. And Europa on a bull sounds like the woman in revelation 17 named "Babylon" who rides the beast of the antichrist (which may be Russia), I think the woman is Europe. This woman Babylon has a cup in her hand full of filthiness, and the world drinks from her filthy cup. I think the filthiness in Europa's cup is Mad Cow Disease, exported to the world by improper cattle raising practices. Another disease, Tuberculosis (TB) is becoming an increasingly bad worldwide epidemic, with drug resistant TB common. TB also is common in cattle. The bacteria Mycobacterium was identified by Robert Koch as the cause of TB in 1882, so we will associate the number 82 and the Galaxy M82 with it, and Revelation 18:2 (King James Version): "18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird."
Note that TB is spread by poor sanitation and hygiene, that we can relate to the"unclean" in the passage above; and Babylon was in Iraq. And galaxy M82 is in the Great Bear constellation Ursa Major, that we can relate to Revelation 13 where the Antichrist has the mouth of a lion, feet of a bear. And the bear is the symbol of Russia, where the Antichrist President Putin is in power. Also, concerning the TB bacteria discovery in 1882, see this page on how a cycle of events began in 1883. Note: the first letters of SARS, Ebola, AIDS spells "sea", and the Antichrist (the beast) rises out of the sea (of world politics) in Revelation 13. Also: the first letters of: Influenza, BSE, Ebola, AIDS, SARS, TB: I BEAST This suggests that these diseases will cause worldwide epidemics as the Beast rises to power, and the Fourth Horseman Death rides. Also, Smallpox could spread, as part of the Fourth Horseman. Also, SARS began in Guangdong Province, China, which is at geographic coordinates of 23 degrees North 112-115 East. Corresponding to 23 North would be the Bible's Psalm 23: (23:4, King James Version): "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me" So this relates to this disease being the shadow of death. Also note that Hong Kong is near Guangdong Province in China, and Hong Kong is a former English colony: this may relate to the "mouth of a lion" of the Red Dragon Red China, the lion I related above to Influenza. Also note that on this site I relate the lion of the Antichrist to Iraq, the lion being a symbol of Babylon, the ancient empire that was located in Iraq. So the war in Iraq in March 2003 may relate holographically to this "lion" disease SARS appearing then. This disease of SARS may be symbolic of the disease of Saddam Hussein that has existed in Iraq. Also, since SARS had its virus discovered in March 2003, then we can relate it to Galaxy M23, which is in the Constellation Sagittarius, Sagittarius being the half-man half-horse archer. This again would relate it to the Antichrist (who I think is Russian President Putin), since in Revelation 6:2 the Antichrist is a man on horseback with a bow and arrow. So SARS may indicate the rise of the Antichrist, the Satanic imitation of Christ, who is Russian President Putin, to world prominence. And SARS coming out of China: the Antichrist gets his power from the dragon, indicating Putin will have an alliance with Red China, the Red Dragon. Also, corresponding to 23 for SARS (since SARS was discovered in 2003, and started near 23 North in China)would be Revelation 12:3 where the red dragon is seen in heaven, the dragon being Red China, and also the Moslem Terrorist dragon, and also the Russian Antichrist, Putin.

AIDS: 83 (virus discovered in 1983) Rev. 18:3, the corrupt woman Babylon (Babylon being Iraq today) Also in 1983: Moslem radicalism in the Arab World is increasing, after the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981; Osama was in Afghanistan in 1983 Square root of 83 is 9.11, as in 9-11 (September 11) Galaxy M83 in Constellation Hydra (the Hydra being like the Moslem Terrorists, El Qaida, it keeps growing a new head each time you cut one off, as AIDS keeps evading a vaccine)
BSE (Mad Cow Disease): 86 (discovered in 1986) Rev. 18:6, the woman with the cup of filthiness Galaxy M86 in Virgo the Virgin, here representing the woman, who is also Isis (who had cow horns)
Tuberculosis (TB): 82 (bacteria discovered in 1882) Rev. 18:2, the unclean city Babylon (Babylon was ancient Iraq) Galaxy M82 in the Great Bear; the Antichrist has the feet of a bear, and the bear is Russia, where the Antichrist President Putin is in power
Influenza: 33 (virus discovered in 1933) Rev. 13:3, the beast (the Antichrist) rises out of the sea Galaxy M33 in Triangulum In 1918, world flu epidemic, as the Red Beast formed in Russia with the Russian Revolution (the beginning of the Antichrist's Evil Empire in Russia). And a bird flu epidemic infecting chickens and birds in Asia is a concern, since it could mutate and become a human pandemic.

What a superb evening: imported, high-end Sake(cloudy from the rice)-a table reserved at a club that used to be called Kane, across the street from Paramount Studios on the Sunset Blvd. side. "Fairy tale-esque" stories like this simply do not occur where I’m living now. Around these parts, people don’t have kick-ass jobs like professional "stunt person". Darryl and I met through his cousin who was seeing a friend of mine at the time, this friend worked at a wine shop in Monrovia. In anticipation of that phone call for the next date, I remember going to several Asian groceries in Alhambra trying to learn about any cultural foods I had never heard of. I was so excited about our first date and felt that it went very well.
I sometimes find myself caught up in the "what if..." of how this relationship would have worked out. I just imagine the amazing trips and vacations that friends and enemies would envy, our beautiful Afro-Asian American children, living in an equestrian neighborhood, etc. If things progressed as I would have liked them to; I have no doubt that the sex would have been mind blowing and out of this world! He was in incredible physical shape, a Martial Arts Expert, gorgeous to look at, long black hair, and, the cherry, he’s a Scorpio! Also, Darryl was not a wimp and took no shit from anyone. I’m sure this part of his personality has contributed to his success. How cool would it be to have a professional dancer as a mum and a professional stunt man as a pop. I’m quite eccentric in many ways.
The night that I feel ruined things for me took place about a week after a bunch of us went to out for Mexican food. Of course, I was talking about my date and the friend from the wine shop was asking questions and seemed to happy and excited for me. I had spoken with Darryl a couple of times on the phone after our date and the person from the wine shop asked me several times had we been out again because, "He really liked you." she tells. I’ll never forget the way they, the "2 assholes" looked at each other when I mentioned that fact that a little bird told me that Darryl was going on a trip and might ask me to go.
A couple of years later I moved to the Valley. I had driven up and down Sherman Way many times. One afternoon, I was on a mission to find a particular item and decided to stop at a store near Sherman Way and Coldwater Cyn. While in traffic, I look to my left and there is the Thai restaurant we went to after clubbing. Those "what if..." thoughts began to emerge. I never tried to call him again because I knew that what ever information he was told via his cousin from one of "2 assholes"(mentioned in a previous blog) was bad enough to make him think so poorly of me that I would never hear from him again. You see, not long after that initial date the friend from the wine shop, Darryl’s cousin and the "2 assholes" all went out one evening. So, it’s not hard to put the unspoken parts of the story together. I’ve known the "2 assholes" since my early 20’s and they are each known for fucking up things due to their own demons.
My experience with the world has shown me that the people who do obtaining things in life in a dishonest way, those who just do give a fuck and are only out for themselves, or those who are evil-hearted and jealous-minded are the one’s who get what they want majority of the time. Not all, but most.
My day-dreaming frequently turns into a sort of melancholy feeling. It’s almost like grieving a relationship that I never had and will never know how it could have possibly turned out.
I often have dreams about still being in L.A. Then I wake up to find that I’m not. I’m not a California native in this life, but I now have a much deeper understanding of the meaning behind the saying -

Observation:Mind over matter : I’ve tried this so many times. I recently rented "Wristcutters: A Love Story" on DVD and I say this because there is a theme in this film that basically says - trying too hard can make you crazy, it only works when it doesn’t matter - i.e.; "no effort" "flow & let flow" kind of thing. Confession: This is so damn hard for me. I have the heartburn & migraines to prove it
Back to mind over matter. This morning, I arrived at my 2nd job a bit early. I sat in my car and listened to some tunes that I’ve wanted to choreograph with. As Jillina confirmed in her workshop - part of putting together a dance combination is to just listen to the music and let it get into you. I do this all the time, mostly as a coping mechanism. I did this for about 20 mins. I went into the store and the first thing someone said to me was, "Wow, you look refreshed!" Needless to say I was taken aback her observation. I then told my friend what I had been doing for the last 20 mins. Confession: I had a small epiphany - dance is truly my core passion & that fire is still burning. I often do creative things related to dance in some way, but I need to be doing it on a physical level.
Observation: About my single-mother status. A close friend helped me to refine this observation. Confession: I lived in Los Angeles for 4.5 years & now I don’t. The observation was that I was a bit spoiled as far as the type of men I had to choose from as opposed to what I have to pick from where I currently live. Since living on the west coast, my standards are way higher than they were before. There are also a few other reasons:
1.) My son is bi-racial, so, if/when I do find someone they must be able to handle that on every level.
2.) For some, it is hard to "pin-down" my nationality/ethnicity- this is a HUGE compliment in my book. For example, there is a guy that works at a gas station who swears I look Ethiopian. He always says, "Look at you. You look just like women where I’m from." In L.A., quite a few times people came up to me and just started speaking Spanish. Out there, it was mostly Asian guys who show a real dating intrest in me. Confession: In spring of 2001, I went on a date with Darryl Chan (see his film bio info @: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0150854/ ), but 2 people who shall remain nameless made it their duty to fuck this up because they where both jealous, each for their own twisted reasons. I really liked Darryl. Even if we did not become romantically involved I still wanted to be his friend. However, I’m sure those 2 assholes mentioned above planted some really nasty rumor-seeds about me. Did I mention that these 2 are husband & wife? That’s one of the shitty aspects of living in L.A., but I still miss all the great stuff & cool people.

After repeated attempts to contact Shona, Dana decided to talk to me. To tell the truth, this hatred has a long history. In 1988, Shona asked to borrow and article of clothing. It was Dana's favorite dress; but of course Dana said yes, because she is too nice. Shona neatly folded the dress over her arm and left. Dana later found of that she also borrowed a cassette tape (also another favorite of Dana's at that time) it was tuck neatly under the dress. Since this is a blog and not an novel, we'll just say that the kindness of Dana was taken advantage of or even uses as an escape-goat many times when they were teen-agers.
Then, there was the time Dana almost died from food poisoning in 1992. Shona did not call or write or say anything. Whenever Dana would bring this up Shona gets very defensive.
As of latley, shona has made it very clear to Dana that she has no desire to be her friend. Why? Simply put, Dana is not fabulous. Dana is not rich, married, pretty; i.e. "Faboulous" in the eyes of the fabulous ones. It's great to have fabulous people in your circle of friends, but what about the friend you "knew when"...
This made Dana very sad, because Shona promised Dana that she would help her in her time of need in a certain situation. That time has come and Shona has been ignoring & rejecting Dana's phone calls and voice mails.
I explained to Dana that there is somewhat of a griving process in a situation like this. Dane feels hurt and useless in a manor of speaking. I also told Dana that this friendship of "when I feel like it" on Shona's part also has an air of pitty. In other words, "I can only take Dana in small doses because I pitty her for her lack of Fabulous-ness." This is not a true or healthy friendship.
Well, I'm here to tell you that Dana Elise Garrett is one bad-ass woman. She works two jobs, has a child in private school, gets up everyday fixes breakfast, packs lunch for her child, drops-off & picks-up him from school, comes home, unless her child had a doctor's appointment or she herself has a court date or function at her child's school, gets dinner and night time item in order and either helps her child with homework or goes to work at the second job until 11pm or later; then gets up at 6:30 am to do it all again. Also, her child gets 9 medications a day for various health issues. Somehow, Dana finds a way to stay upbeat and creative. She has many talents; dance, knowledge of music and films or other things related to the arts. Most importantly, Dana make time for her friends - an email, a phone call, a post card...
I've known Dana since 2002 and she is a diamond in the rough. Despite all she is dealing with and has delt with; Dana is a beautiful person.
Keep your head up, lady. Remember, "The pain is in the broom" ;-)

Here we go again... Mercury retrograde

At 23:41 UT (Universal Time), just before midnight on June 15, 2007, Mercury, the cosmic trickster, turns retrograde in Cancer, the sign of the Crab, sending communications, travel, appointments, mail and the www into a general snarlup! It's another of those tricky time zone issues, as in places East of Greenwich (Europe; Asia; Africa; Australia; New Zealand) it happens on the 16th! This awkward period begins a few days before the actual turning point (as Mercury slows) and lasts for three weeks or so, until July 10, when the Winged Messenger reaches his direct station. At this time he halts and begins his return to direct motion through the zodiac.
Everything finally straightens out on July 24, as he passes the point where he first turned retrograde. Mercury turns retrograde three times a year, as a rule, but the effects of each period differ, according to the sign in which it happens (see box for Retrograde Periods in 2007).
A planet is described as retrograde when it appears to be moving backwards through the zodiac. According to modern science, this traditional concept arises in the illusory planetary motion created by the orbital rotation of the earth, with relation to other planets in our solar system. Planets are never actually retrograde or stationary, they just seem that way, due to this cosmic shadow-play.
Retrograde periods, although often problematic for us earthlings, are not particularly uncommon. Each planet retrogrades, except the Sun and Moon. Although a powerful astrological influence, Mercury is quite a small planet that travels at a relatively fast speed through the zodiac. Despite being the closest planet in our solar system to the Sun, it is not always in the same sign as the Sun (for example, this year Mercury turns in Cancer while the Sun is in Gemini and is still in Cancer when the Sun has moved right through Cancer and on into Leo).

Why not send all the "dead-beat dads" instead of taking our women & men in service away from the families they actually take care of on a regular basis. Might as well send all the gang-bangers too; no matter what race. I guess this makes too much sense for our government to actually try. They should reinstate the draft. There would have a huge pool to choose from . I'm sure there are others who would meet criteria for other reasons.
Oh well, just a passing thought. I'm sure I'm not the first to think it.
